I don't have much time this morning to elaborate but I can later on today. I mean it has been a complete disaster for Russia, there is no other way to put it. I think they expected Ukraine to roll over after the first 24-72 hours and it was a massive miscalculation, costing them dearly, in loss of life & armor.
I think they're adapting to the circumstances better of late though and are showing some improvement in strategy. I think people are still underestimating their resilience as a people, they're not going to quit, and the West will lose their appetite for this conflict long before Russia does. As far as I how I see it ending, it's really hard to say, most likely a stalemate of sorts. I personally don't believe Ukraine will ever get Crimea back and I envision Russia will hold onto major parts of the east. I think their ultimate goal is taking Odessa, although at this point it doesn't seem very realistic. I feel like Ukraine better be careful and not get too overzealous with this counteroffensive because if the losses become significant, Russia could then potentially make that push towards Odessa eventually. That could be years from now though, with a lot of death and destruction between now & then.

Why would they do that? They have been building defensive positions for months. Just sit back and let Ukraine deplete the rest of their military in this counteroffensive they're feeling pressured to attempt.
