Probably some truth in this statement, but LSU will be OK with or without Lane if commitment to NIL remains similar with next coach. I like idea of Dilly but I just hope administration at LSU has been working with someone other than Lane so that they can pivot quickly to Candidate B by end of November.
Whether that was strategy or we just missed and he stays at Ole Miss, result the same. They will be stretched for sure. They had a great team last year and we beat them with BK as coach. Hopefully we simply upgrade from BK and we'll be ok if we get LK or don't. Just wish it was final so we could move on.
If you have him signed and it’s public that he’s coming and that can be used in recruiting and portal discussions, yes he can finish season where he is, if the other school wants him to, but only if contract is finalized now.
Anybody have any intel on that question?

I Just have a feeling. I feel like real candidate hasn’t even been mentioned on this board yet. I just wonder if chicken is filtering threads regarding him. I haven’t tried to put a name out there to see if my theory is correct for fear of bringing his name to forefront. I would like the hire but many here would not. His candidacy would bring credibility to a rebuild which I think LSU will need.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love a Lane announcement but I just don’t see it happening. I think Sexton simply creating smoke for his clients besides Lane.

Riley smoke and Tom Herman smoke of last two hires. My thought is that real candidates are being vetted currently with announcement as soon as candidate finishes his regular season at current school. If we go past November 30 without an announcement, I think that means candidate is in cfp. Could still be Lane unless he signs extension publicly with Ole Miss, or announces Florida or another option. My hope is that LSU isn’t putting all their eggs in Lane’s basket. He and ole miss would love to come to an agreement for him to stay and not announce hoping to screw up LSU and/or Florida.

Wow! First page. When is it official?
When is it public then? Mr. Insider.
I live out of state and haven't been home for a game in years but knowing our fans, they will show up to support the team through thick and thin, especially during the transition to a new coach.
If LSU did negotiate the buyout down, they need to issue an official press release asap to nip this stuff in the bud.
I pulled it from google search on Brian Kelly.
Philly, hope your person is right. My fear is Governor being involved and stacking board with his appointees will want to be more fiscally responsible based upon some of his statements in the past about LSU spending too much on Athletics.
I know Peter Burns of SEC network suggested hiring Nick Saban as a consultant in the search process. I like this idea, if they could get him to do it, as he would have a significant input on identifying coaching qualities that effect outcomes. Hope they investigate this possibility.
Great summary Tammany. There's a message in this for today's fans. If by chance LSU wins Saturday against A&M, we need to wait to see how rest of season plays out before deciding fate of BK. In my opinion, anything short of winning out and making playoffs this year is grounds for termination since BK had a $18million roster and thumped his chest about keeping receipts, etc.

Like 2016 with Les, it won't take long to realize we still have same BK we've had. 4 years is enough of an evaluation period to see what your coach can do these days, with portal, NIL, etc. See Indiana. If you got right guy, he can turn it around quickly.
Bayou, I've been thinking this for some time. Glad someone pointed it out. We all appreciate what he inherited from a roster standpoint and yet players that stayed and him and coaching staff did more with less year 1 than he has since.
Now that is a telling stat. Same record as DiNardo in 4 years vs. ranked teams. Wow! I'm old enough to remember we were not happy with him at that time either. Enter Saban and beginning of Golden Years of LSU Football. Message for current administration to remember
