re: Lawyers of OT, what lawyer do you think has the highest hourly rate in Louisiana?
Posted by ClassAct on 6/23/26 at 12:18 pm to CarpeCyanide
Depends on the specialty. There are definitely senior partners who charge clients more than $1,100. Courts are reluctant to award that high on a fee application. They are typically in the $400-600 range for senior partners.
Contingency fees are a different animal. There are cases that attorneys work on and get zero, while on others they may get tens of thousands an hour.

Tomato juice. You can also purchase a cleaner at pet store. You have to clean inside her nose or you will never get rid of smell.
The evidence that the vehicle was shifted into neutral and back into drive is hard to overcome.
re: Stand-by Generator for home. Worth it?

Yes. Initially thought it was a waste of money since we went a couple years without power loss but once you get to sit in A/C in Sept while others are sweating, you realize it is worth every penny.

Do cameras record? If so, how can someone obtain a video?

re: Extended warranty on new truck purchase - yes or no?
Posted by ClassAct on 3/19/26 at 2:46 pm to Hewonbyalot
Always. Typically transferrable if done within 30 days of sale, or you can get refund of unused portion if totaled. Price is initially very inflated so negotiate. Tell them you won't purchase vehicle unless deal on extended warranty. I was able to get extended warranty for a couple hundred over cost on last few vehicles.
terrible

Don't burn an 894 for a speeding ticket. Call the DA and get it reduced to a non-moving and pay fine. Most will do it because they just want the revenue.

Do everything by email and email several dealers for the exact same car. They will bid against each other. Make them send all paperwork before you go to dealer.
absolutely left in car but windows were always down. Car were so big back then it was like a playground.
Went to same thing with father-in-law. He had a couple accidents including a left-hand turn that totaled both vehicles. Claimed he had a green arrow - the light didn't even have a green arrow. His kids hid the keys for a while. He eventually stopped asking.
No worries. Ask for the legacy discount too. I think its $1000 off tuition.
re: Louisiana Lemon Law

You will have one year from the date of last attempt to repair to seek recission of sale, or reduction of price. You can assert claims under Lemon Law statute La. R.S. 51:1941 et seq, and redhibition La. C.C. art. 2520 et seq. You are able to recover attorney fees if you can prove seller knew of the defect and failed to disclose so I would call an attorney. Richard Dalton used to handle a bunch but not sure if he still does. I would not try to do it yourself since their attorneys fight these on a daily basis.
We need another one like him.
re: Selling a used boat out of state need assistance
Posted by ClassAct on 4/23/25 at 12:28 pm to greenhead11
Buyer needs to figure out what his state requires. I have sold boats to people in Bama and Florida. Both only required bill of sale which did not need to be notarized. I would do separate bills of sale for the trailer and boat. Louisiana requires separate. I had to get manufacturer to redo for a boat I bought out of Florida. You will also need to cancel license plate at OMV and registration at LDWF.
I don’t have a problem with Real ID. I have a problem with OMV. Currently here for the second time and computers are down again!

Texas does not permit non-lawyers to have a controlling interest in a law firm.

Stupid headline grabbers. These idiots cost the state so much money injecting their religious beliefs and holier than thou positions.
