re: Georgia....campus always suck or just a bad day?

should have gone to north campus. uga is also more spread out for tailgating than other schools...but I can't see how you didn't like the campus.
re: How long does Mark Richt have?

We love Richt here, its his loyalty to his coordinators we have a problem with.
UGA will be pretty good next year, even with Knowshon and Stafford gone. We are stacked at running back and we have a very MAtt Flynn-like quarterback as Staffords backup (Cox). What killed UGA this year was injuries on both lines...those guys will be back and the lines will be stacked next year, barring injuries. We will compete for the SEC east, just like always. Trust me, we are not panicking here in Dawg Country.

bama fans are about as delusional as cock fans, its best to just leave them alone and laugh hysterically at them.

re: is phelps in your top 5 male athletes in history???
Posted by geauxswim on 8/15/08 at 9:06 am
My top 5:
1. Michael Phelps
2. Lance Armstrong
3. Herschel Walker
4. Ted Williams
5. Wayne Gretzky
Carl Lewis and Michael Johnson are basically tied for 5, really.
And I love the people talking about how Phelps has no competition at these Olympics....you people watch swimming for one week every 4 years and are suddenly experts on the sport. It's hysterical. Go back to drooling over 17 year old high school recruits who come to your school to play a game. Leave the talking about actual sports to people who know about actual sports.

not saying swimmers dont choke ever just saying in some sports it is easeir to choke. swimming and track are two sports where athletes normally dont choke. if they are faster they usually win. there are not too many variables.

quote:much better chance he loses to ian crocker in the 100fly...crocker hasnt had a swim yet, thus has had more time for training and will be at the top of his taper. also lochte will have the finals of the 200 back right before the finals of the 200 IM tomorrow...so he wont be as fresh as phelps.
what if phelps loses to lochte the fellow american in the final? thats a story

well i heard on the news earlier that it was such an advantage that speedo offered the suits to every swimmer to even the playing field...so no one is at an advantage, everyone is faster...phelps isnt even wearing the full body suit.
Everyone has a suit that is equivalent to the LZR. Honestly I think the BlueSeventy is faster, but thats just from my experiences.
The reason they do not talk about it is for the allusion that the records are being broken by skill and ability only. It will add to the drama for the casual fan. Still it is unbelievable what the swimmers are accomplishing, but you'd be dumb not to admit the suit is helping a lot.

LSU- Joey Crappell. He kicks arse.
SEC- David Pollack. He kicks arse.

They've been told by NBC to not mention the suits, period.
re: Greatest olympian ever
Posted by geauxswim on 8/13/08 at 12:21 am
In regards to the whole suit thing...its like when cleats were first introduced to runners, or goggles to the swimmer. Its just new technology and EVERYONE GETS TO USE THEM! Records will always be broken, but what needs to be understood is that Phelps is swimming against the toughest, fastest competition the world has ever seen and destroying them with breeze.
Also, he couldnt see the last 100 of his 200 fly today, and still set a world record. Phenomenal.

Eric Shanteau

Got eliminated tonight in the 200m Breaststroke semifinal...he got 10th.
For those of you that don't know his story, Eric found out he had testicular cancer a week before Olympic Trials in June. He decided to swim anyway and he amazingly made the team. After getting extensive blood work done he was cleared to compete in the Olympics as well, without receiving any treatment whatsoever for his cancer.
So even knowing he has cancer, he made semis and went the 10th fastest time in the world. That is the epitome of the American Spirit right there folks.
Here's to Eric!
And I don't care what the record books say, in my opinion he is the greatest Olympian of all time.
