This map is fake news. I have been assured many times that the north and the south switched parties in the 1960's after the passage of the civil rights act. There is no way the south was still voting Democratic in 1976

Always a good idea to avoid any restaurant with "cajun" in the name outside of south Louisiana.
I was about to carry my then two year old son across the Home Depot parking lot at 610 & 59 in Houston when I found myself caught in the middle of a dang shoot out. There had a been a large gathering at the Boudreauxs Cajun Kitchen, which shares a parking lot. One shooter ran past me and was shooting backwards towards the restaurant. I had to chuck my son into the floor of the back seat and take cover. It was about three weeks after Katrina and the Astrodome was still full of refugees not too far away. I always chalked it up to them.
But your advise regarding the word CAJUN checks out.

I have to peek in from time to time so I know why my elderly (and very white) mother is afraid to go to the grocery store because she thinks there will be a KKK rally in the parking lot. It helps me to give context to why both of my elderly parents have become angry and fearful people.
My mom actually repeated, in front of others at the dinner table, that White Nationalists are the biggest threat to American safety because she saw a decorated general say it on TV and then it was recirculated on The View. Unironically, they live in St. Louis where you can't even go downtown safely anymore. And it isn't because its Trump Country

I saw this on TV tonight and thought HOW RICH... especially after the SPLC got caught funding the crazy KKK types. What a biased piece of shite piece.

I will sometimes load up a “snuffle ball” with training treats. It takes my dog an hour or two to find them all.

I don’t get the teacher worship. Yes they are important. Yes they teach our children (allegedly) but some are in the same tax bracket as a pediatrician, police, fire,….ALL are important to my kids’ well being
The garbage men do an important job, so do water sanitation services. They don’t get an appreciation day.
Further, my career requires a (5 year) Masters degree to be certified. It’s a rigorous exam, a rigorous degree. I worked 70 hour weeks 9 months out of the year, including weekends. Generally my job attracts very intelligent people.. If calculated on an hourly basis I earned far less than a teacher for the first 8 years of my career. Nobody worships the corporate auditors.
I think teachers have benefited from unions and a massive PR campaign to train the public into thinking teachers are magical. Frankly most I’ve encountered are tepid at best

This might shock you, but their strategy will be that Vance (or Rubio) is “TRUMP 2.0!” he is more facist-y and Hitler-y and will force white women to get pregnant and put blacks back in chains!!!!
You can see it coming from a mile away. And it will work on 49% of population. And my 82 year old mom will be worried that Vance will force her into being a human incubator because he’s a white nationalist.

are we not allowed to hold preference for migrants that will not be a burden to American citizens? Those that are more likely to contribute to, rather than take from, tax payers? Can't we even SAY that without being branded racist?

But also, probably at least 7 out of my last 10 rental cars have reeked of weed. So that part is at least realistic
A month ago at the Jacksonville airport we were handed keys and sent out to the parking garage only to have zero attendants there to push the button to let us out of the garage. We went back into the rental desk to complain, nobody showed up.. waited 40 minutes before hubby broke into the kiosk to open the gate. THEN someone came out and had a beef with us. I was ready to start pulling weaves.

wouldn't it be refreshing if congresspeople asked questions because of their actual desire to better understand a topic before making policy?

how is your spouse handling this situation?
If it were my family, I would do my best to make sure the 89 year old grandma has proper legal protections in place such as proper power of attorney or assets held in trust, if not already. You probably aren't asking about the business end of this tho.
Previous poster is correct, you cannot help another human who won't put in the work to help themselves. You cannot force another to seek medical care. You cannot force them to get a job. You can establish boundaries to protect your family.

These the same people who claim their community is “over policed”?? The same who cry racism when an armed criminal is eliminated by law enforcement? The same ones who refuse to “snitch”? They are reaping what they hade sewn

I grew up in the western suburbs of St. Louis in the 1970's. It is still a very self segregated metro area. I went to public school and didn't have any black kids in my classes. None on my school sports teams. I had no interaction with the community outside of The Jeffersons or Good Times on TV.
My first time in a movie theater with them was to see The Ring, I think I was at the old Meyerland Theater after moving to Houston. I did not know that for blacks, watching a movie was a participatory event. It is meant to be enjoyed by yelling at the screen, screaming at people at the end of the row, standing up during the movie, general talking and laughing. (and this was before everyone had cell phones) I legit was not aware that this was a thing, or I would have turned around and demanded my money back the second I saw the audience.
I'm sort of a ashamed to admit, but I always check Yelp pictures of a restaurant's interior before going to eat. I think it has saved me many bad experiences.

I'm curious if any of these are the same people who, after paying $15 per ticket and throwing cash around in a theater, are the same ones complaining that EBT doesn't buy candy and their children will starve as a result.
