Winning or losing a meet has no influence on your rankings. Simplified, the rankings are based on your average scores. Winning a meet only really matters in postseason when the winners move on. It’s more about putting up good scores. 197 is a good score to start the season, at this point 197.5 or higher is a good score. 197.8 or higher is a great score.

We will have a chance to drop our 197.125 with a good away meet score this Friday. We are carrying two low 197’s that are keeping our NQS down but this 198 improves our ceiling. We are at Oklahoma and SEC Championships count as away scores as well. Bummer Makarri is out for the season but our ladies stepped up big! If we score a 197.925 or higher we will jump both Michigans no matter what next week.

One question for the knowledgeable... Does the home team pick the rotation?
Hope y’all had a great time at your first meet. This is a great question. “Olympic Order” is given to home team on dual meet - Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor. Away team - Bars, Vault, Floor, Beam. Obvious advantage to home team as floor typically brings home energy and scores can reflect that, beam being the hardest mental event is tough to end on.
The only time a team gets to pick their rotation is the highest seeded (based on national ranking) team at SEC Championships. Then it goes to next highest ranked team to pick.

Still don’t understand Waligora’s 9.70 on the beam - it looked more solid than that.
One judge it a 9.6 which is egregious. I saw Coach Johnston giving it to the head judge over that. Judge then went to the side to what looked like read the code book. I guess it wasn’t reviewable. That judge cost us the win but what a great meet regardless. This with Gabby out and Luisa resting. This team is on a mission.

Five Star and #3 ranked recruit commits

No. 3 recruit Jasmine Cawley has committed to Alabama. She chose the Crimson Tide over Florida, UCLA, Arkansas and Georgia. So far, every committed ***** (five-star) recruit in the class of 2025 has chosen a SEC team!

I wouldn’t read too much into the rankings before week 8 or comparing scores to other teams with different judges. These judges were scoring waaay lower than similar or worse routines at other meets. We had an off night but still put together some good routines and got another freshman some experience. Going to have to find landings to hang with Florida though.
