re: Hey LSU fans, the Tigers fold...

The top two teams in the Athens regional are the only two schools to win a gym national championship since 2003... losing to that is not exactly folding.
Young team, they were a longshot at best to get through.

But those socks — neon yellow/green, to an almost blinding degree — you won't be able to buy those at retail, a Nike official confirmed to The Style Blog this afternoon.

A consistently interpretative take on the interruptibility of footwear comes from the folks at Happy Socks, who happen to make a dead ringer for the pair that got rolled over by Auburn's Michael Dyer for the game-winning score. Not a bad consolation prize.

LSU doesn't play Arkansas in Fayetteville. But yeah, Fayetteville is grass.

So do Ohio State and Michigan still play every year?
Yes, and it's staying as the final week game too. So there's potential for a championship game rematch the next week.

News only in the fact that Hoke was probably going to try to take him to Michigan and will now have to look for a new DC.

Karl Dunbar (asst head coach/DL) left to go coach the Minnesota Vikings DL.

Miles has never had 100% staff retention at LSU.
re: Is there a better football bloodline than the Matthews?
Posted by thirtyseven on 1/11/11 at 4:40 pm
Not as good bloodline-wise, but worth noting:
Rob, Chris, and Dan Gronkowski all play in the NFL. Dad played football at Syracuse and great-grandfather was an Olympian.

I can't believe people actually thought WVU could come into death valley on a saturday night and beat LSU.
It was 17-14 heading into the 4th, 20-14 final... not a stretch to say it could have gone the other way.
re: Steven Ridley as Captain
Posted by thirtyseven on 1/8/11 at 7:32 am
Considering he's been a captain in other games this season (Ole Miss, for example), no. Probably had more to do with a show of support following his reinstatement by the NCAA. Plus, Patrick Peterson would be the more apt example here, and he wasn't a captain.
Hawaii's coach is in some trouble now...

Second-year Hawaii football coach Greg McMackin said Notre Dame players engaged in a "little **** dance" when describing a banquet the night before the Hawaii Bowl last December.

"Don't write that '****' down. I was misquoted," he said. "Just please … cover for me," McMackin said Thursday. "Go ahead, say ‘**** dance.’ No. Please cover for me on that, too — right Karl? I’ll deny it. Anything else?"
About 15 minutes after McMackin left the room, he returned and added, "I want to officially, officially apologize. Please don’t write that statement I said as far as Notre Dame. The reason is, I don’t care about Notre Dame. But I’m not a … I don’t want to come out and have every homosexual ticked off at me. You know what I mean. Because I don’t have any problem with homosexuals. But I apologize for saying that and I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t run that word. If you said dance, that’s OK. But don’t use the bad term that I chose, please. Thank you."

I don't doubt that it will/has been played on the parade grounds
Sadly, there is a club at LSU, but they don't play on the parade grounds, they play on the grass field in between Acadian dorm and the Ag Center lot.
Im pretty sure the people who play at LSU are the people I'd expect to be attending a Pokemon convention.

Although he doesn't compare to Rice or Payton, John Stallworth (Alabama A&M) probably still deserves a mention, being an NFL HOFer with 4 Super Bowl rings
