Overreact to 1 game? When you lay an egg that badly against BAYLOR who is ranked 120 out of 120 division 1 teams in total defense you deserve to tumble out of the Heisman discussion.

Furthermore everyone in the country seems to want to try to point to the LSU game where manziel had a mediocre day by his standards (yet still put up good numbers) as an indication of why he shouldnt win it. Having an average day against a top 10 LSU defense VS having a poor day against the 120 ranked Baylor defense???

This choice should be clear cut who wins this award yet these voters are literally trying to make every excuse in the world why to give it to anyone other than manziel.

Freshman, sophomore, junior or senior the kid has the best numbers in the most difficult conference of the most difficult division in the nation with a win on the road over the consensus #1 team in the country where he played lights out.

If they take care of business against Missouri these voters need to stop jerking around and being wishy washy. Just because the rest of the "Heisman field" is poor doesnt negate the fact that Manziel is still the best player in the country.
I dont think a freshman QB playing in his 1st collegiate game, in a new conference is a very good example of how to shut down the A&M offense.

Manziel wasnt even running an offense at that point....more like he was running around frantically just trying to make plays and learn the speed of the college game on the run....literally

As hot as A&M is right now in addition to Manziel becoming more comfortable in the pocket I dont believe Florida would be nearly as effective as they were in game 1 of said freshmans career.

Its all academic now but the Florida game is just a bad example imo.
Its not the A&M offense you have to figure out. Its the fact that manziel leaves the pocket and creates plays and extends them longer than any player I can remember. Its unconventional and just difficult to stop.

Furthermore this isnt a typical dink and dunk, UH, Texas Tech, West virgina ball control spread offense. A&M has big NFL style offensive lineman who can put a hat on Dlineman and pound the ball between the tackles. I cant recall a spread team that can truly play a tackle to tackle ground and pound type offense sprinkled in with an intermediate passing game.

.....with one of the few exceptions being the OU offenses of 99 - 01 when Leach was the Offensive coordinator. Im sure there are a few other examples Im missing but thats a pretty comparable example.

I also dont really feel there is a cut and dry solution to defeat the A&M offense. Its built to punish teams that have big, slow defensive ends and linebacker play while also testing the speed of teams secondaries on the perimeter. Either you have the speed or you dont. Forcing teams to show lots of dime packages and have 6 players in the secondary who can all run and cover is not prevalent on many rosters not named LSU or Alabama.
How can we turn down an offer from anybody when the board of regents doesnt meet until next Tuesday and our athletic director has been out of town all weekend?

Dosent make much sense to me. I think Chip is trying to stir the pot personally

Chip Brown is literally to point of just trying to connect dots where there are none to connect.

All 3 A&M websites have confirmed that tweet is completely bogus.

How would A&M turn down an offer from the PAC-10 when the board of regents doesnt even meet until Tuesday of next week to discuss this?

Further more why would A&M turn down an offer from the PAC-10 at this point? They were not given an ultimatum or a time table until next week, so what purpose would it serve to show your hand this afternoon?

Chip Brown is seriously grasping at straws at this point.
We were kicking OU and Texas across the field and then all of a sudden they both caught up. We need to get back to that ground and pound philosphy.

so you personally saw him on campus?

No sir not going to lie to you one bit! However read my first sentence of the original post and you will get an idea of the phone call I received around 2:30 this afternoon, and you will get an idea of who did see Mike IN person at college station.

And by the way I have met Mike personally back in 2001 when he was the conference USA commissioner..... and met him shortly there after in 2002 when he was newly the conference chief of the SEC that year. LSU had just played Auburn on my birthday October 26th, 2002 and lost 31-7 the week before the blue grass miracle. Very Gracious individual and a great ambassador to this conference. If anyone has not had the privilege to meet this individual I urge you to...he is a class act from top to bottom!!

And by the way, if anybody has an idea of whats going on the big 12, please take a look at power tools post. That is one of the most spot on no bullshite posts I have ever seen....props man!!

They want to play for Texas and the longhorns only have 20-25 scholarships a year to offer.

We have god knows how many teams and conferences and players in the state of Texas, so what are they going to offer them all?

They cant snag all of them

wait... so it happened an hour and a half ago?

Was Mike seen on campus around an hour and half or two hours ago? To answer your question yes
Does it have to happen in person? Absolutely not, but when you are the top conference in the country and are the ones with something to lose/or WIN out of this situation, would you not want to meet with the administration in person?

He has been on campus since around noon and been in meetings ever since.
Several close contacts of mine within the athletic department fairly high up @ A&M here in college station and Mike Slive the SEC commish was seen on campus early this afternoon....confirmed

There are a million rumors out there and I really dont want to add "another" one onto the pile, but....

I have first hand knowledge that Mike was in college station this morning, and will be making an official offer to Texas A&M this afternoon.

Does that mean A&M will accept? I am not going to BS anybody and say "yes" 100% but I am also not going to spew out some random unsubstantiated rumor like Kirk Bohols or chip Brown and lie to people either. I hope we take the offer and run with it, but I guess crazier things have happened and I guess the PAC10 could still snake its way in.

The fact that the offer is actually in place is the first step and most important step and I personally hope this thing gets wrapped up the middle part of next week.

The SEC is the best conference in college football and I along with the majority of the Texas A&M fan base would love to join you guys in the future, so I hope the 12th man board of regents and boosters agree to this b/c I think this is a great thing that is about to hopefully happen.

Cheers
Come on fellas, Kirk bouls, chip brown and jeff ketchum who all 3 are Texas blow hards are reporting this........all 3 of which are longhorn whipping boys. The fact that people continue to take what these guys say as gospel amazes me.

Govenor Perry said last night on the Austin news that he is staying as far away from this from this entire situation as possible.... And where all these rumors that he is blocking this move to the sec is absurd.

How the he'll would Kirk bohls know what a&m officals were thinking anyways? Answer is they wouldn't and they don't

Okay there chief. I wasnt trying to argue with you rather argee with you but anyways....
I read it. I am reiterating your point that you cant go off some loons off a message board because most of them are crazy anyways
Right because a handful of idiots on texags make of the majority of how most of the fan base feels.

Great logic there.

If you took the pulse of the LSU fan base by the tone of tiger droppings and the large majority of the crazy off the wall posts.... you would think LSU was coming off a 2-10 season and Les miles and the entire LSU athletic department was about to fall off the face of the planet.
Man this is like arguing with a 5 year old.

Insults and foul language....kind of acting like a 5 year old as well when he cant get everyone to agree with him and throws a tantrum.

I want you to break down the schedule because I think you would be surprised when you actually look at the schedule game by game and then realized that those teams would struggle in a major conference.

Rice, SMU, UCF, UAB, Memphis, Marshall, Tulane....good grief with 6 automatic wins against these cream puffs how could someone NOT win 8 or 9 games a season?
The only reason he keeps going back to head to head is because thats the only leg he has to stand on. He wont acknowledge if you put these teams in a major conference they would get rocked and he knows it.

I am still waiting for you take some of these so called "superior" teams and stack them up against the schedule I outlined on page 2. Take a handful of your new teams and give me a breakdown of wins and losses. See what you come up with?
Man this guy is really uspet about something. So much anger. Good grief
