re: Need help from EV/Tesla owners

1) my electrician was able to combine a few of my breakers into half size breakers (I’ve got no idea what the term may be or even if I’m describing it correctly). Cost depends on your electrician. Mine charged a reasonable hourly for labor and and cost for materials so he was very reasonable.
2. You can run the AC without issue. I’ve done it for 8 hours in Palm Springs (I have a freezer for the car and needed to keep something cold) and yeah probably dropped maybe 20 miles (I know energy would make more sense to some people but I have my car set to show me miles). I had to keep the car on “camp” mode so that the 12V outlet would stay on, but the AC was on as well.
3. Cooling at 100 F outside, yeah no problem. You’ll use more energy obviously so your mileage will be lower.
4. I’m in California so we have Tesla service centers around. If you’re outside of a certain radius from the nearest service center, at least in the past, they’d send a “ranger” (a mobile technician) out to your place. I’d typically get a Tesla loaner although they seem to contract with enterprise out here for loaners now. Experience has been fine for me.
5. Yeah public chargers, it depends. The Tesla supercharger network has really expanded but you may want to check how dense it is where you are. ChargePoint is present in a lot of places and some places have them for free but the charging is slow. Free I’ve mainly seen in Vegas and at a nice mall called South Coast plaza in Orange County. Some hotels let you charge for free if you’re staying there. Yes, sometimes a charger is broken.

Yeah, burger time is a bit infuriating. Before I started playing it again, I thought to myself, it should be a piece of cake now that I’m an adult. Nope, there’s a reason those bastards always got me back in the day, and still do today.
I forgot to mention, I bought an MKII control panel off someone for $10, and then he’s like, “you want the monitor, too? I was just gonna toss it.” He says it didn’t work but he never fiddled with it. So that monitor has the pcb in the back, too. So, one day, I’ll check and see if the thing works, but otherwise, I plan to mod that control deck with a trackball and do a vertical screen mod, probably with my Pac Man machine. I just don’t know which trackball to get.
I am also waiting on some Sinden lightguns with recoil. If you’re not familiar with them, they are compatible with lcd screens by putting a white border around the edge of the screen that the guns essentially use for calibration.

i can't believe someone hasn't come up with a solution for the 4way/8way issue.
So someone did come up with an elegant but not necessarily visually pleasing solution:
Restrictor insert
You’d have to switch it out when you wanted to change it. I suppose the dust cover can still sit on top of these and they can be made to have a really low profile.
That subreddit was great with all sorts of new ideas, but I haven’t seen anything really innovative for about half a year.
Regarding Burgertime, someone posted this:

Burgertime is a bit of an outlier. Even with a proper 4-way stick, the controls are still very dodgy. It has terrible collision detection, and extremely tight directional allowance. Great game Idea, but Deco clearly made it hard as balls for more quarters.

I need this! Do you have the thread handy?
Legochuck’s thread
My thread
I actually also followed u/madmexicano’s thread and hooked my stock volume switch to a mini amplifier chip, a PAM 8803, and back to the stock speakers. This allows me to control the volume with the stock switch.
I also used the IcculusPlan for using the stock on/off switch to power on/off the raspberry pi.
Oh, I forgot to explain why I had to modify legochuck’s design. He glued the “key” down to make it work. His hardware must also be slightly different than mine because the throw on the joystick wasn’t quite far enough for me, so I had to widen the gate a bit. I added a cap that fit on the key and has a little protrusion that fits into the flathead groove on the base of the stick so that I wouldn’t have to glue it. Printing it in pla was too brittle but petg works great.

I’m interested in the A1up pinball but have a hard time justifying it to myself at full price after I scored 5 cabinets for pretty cheap. I got myself an M93p tiny and was going to see if I could run Sega Model 3 on it (doubtful) but the pandemic has slowed everything down for me on that front. I’m an ER doc and I’ve been just exhausted between work and childcare (toddler at home). I bought a LaunchBox license on Black Friday when it was discounted and want to try it out but it might not be until February that I get any time. So essentially almost a year since I’ve done much with my arcades.
I did get a digital marquee for my TMNT mod and followed a tutorial to add a raspberry pi 0 to put the corresponding marquee up with whatever game is selected. However, I need to go in and rename all of the marquee files I have to match the rom file names. I also read about multimon to have it all go off of the one raspberry pi 4 but haven’t delved too deep.
One neat thing I did was, using a design by u/legochuck on Reddit, I modified his 3d model and outfitted my mod to be able to switch between a 4 way and 8 way joystick from the top. I was gonna fine tune it and load it to thingiverse but, you know, pandemic.
Thank you for starting the original thread since it got me interested in all this stuff in the first place.

We try not to CT younger folk, so I’m referring to people in their early 30’s when I say yes. It’s completely possible that the teenage through early 20 crowd is completely unaffected. That’s also the crowd that feels invincible and doesn’t typically go to the emergency department for any little thing. But, if you get a chance, look up multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children.

Did it occur to you that people who are asymptomatic, or have minor symptoms, might have less inflammation? And they might not go to the emergency room.
 I’d be a shite emergency physician of I didn’t realize that. If you reread my post, I’m referring to asymptomatic people getting imaging for other reasons.

The issue that a lot of people don't realize is the amount of inflammation in a lot of asymptomatic people's lungs. It's too early to know what is going to happen in the long term, but this absolutely has the potential to affect an athlete's exercise tolerance for life. Has anyone set up home assistant on a synology NAS? I was following a tutorial by the bearded tinkerer but it looks like something just changed literally a few days ago and no I have to do something else. I think it has to do with home assistant core or something. I guess I have to look into that. I figure if my NAS is on all the time anyway, that might as well control my home assistant.

If COVID was around that early we’d be seeing the same hospital and death statistics spiking as well. I don’t get the logic.
Interestingly enough, there was a new-ish phenomenon going around the last half of last year that was attributed to vaping. Gives the same type of lung findings as COVID-19. COVID-19 was not a known entity at the time and there was no testing for it, and our traditional laboratory tests for COVID-19 are not consistent with infection. So who knows.
To the OP's question, I had the worst "man cold" that I have ever had back in January and was in bed an entire day. I may or may not have had a mild case. I'm an emergency physician for reference.
I have a cousin who has COVID-19. He is 2.5 weeks into it and is still highly symptomatic. Can't do a thing without feeling like he is going to collapse. His oxygen saturation has improved, however so he's likely going to recover. We (as a medical community) don't know if there is a weaker strain of the virus and a stronger strain or if it's a based upon viral load exposure. Or both.

I tried and couldn’t get tested. Wasn’t old enough to worry bout
When was this? Last few days or longer ago? In California, we had to limit testing initially because of a physical lack of tests, but now we are testing broadly. If Louisiana is still limiting tests and the infection rate is already so high, in actuality, it's much higher. Which is a bad sort of impressive

Hi all, what do you think of the following:
Lenovo Thinkcentre Intel Core i5 4570T Mini tower 2.90 GHz
8gb ram, 128ssd. Windows 10
Someone on OfferUp near me posted it for $90.

It looks like my question about the flight yoke has been answered! On the arcade1up subreddit, someone posted that the Ultimarc A-PAC can be used to connect the flight yoke to USB.

Does anyone have any input about the GRS flight yoke that's on kickstarter currently? Here's a link.
Just a little info about the wheeling and dealing going on on my end. After beginning January with no cabinets, I scored my first two, Pac Man and Golden Tee, from Marshall's. I struck a deal on OfferUp for a TMNT from someone for a decent price. I upgraded my Pac Man with a good deal on the Costco version with a lighted marquee and stool. I sold the stool to someone on OfferUp who said, by the way, my friend works for Arcade1Up so let me know if there are any cabinets you want.
Apparently, Arcade1Up's been out of the Pac Man stool for quite a while so that's all this guy was missing. Within a day, I got a Star Wars cab and a limited edition Marvel cab for pretty cheap. So now I'm up to 5 cabs for $920, which actually might get better with a few other deals as well.
I plan on doing a 4-6-6-4 mod to the controls on the TMNT. I might do a vertical mod on the Pac Man to add some classics like Dig Dug and Centipede.
One question is, should I add a rollerball to my Pac Man cab? That kickstarter link above has an option to get the yoke, a Tron joystick, a GRS spinner, and a GRS rollerball. So I could add a spinner and a rollerball, but would that make my control panel too cluttered?
I'm hoping that someone figures out how to use the Arcade1up Star Wars yoke with a PC or a Pi. If not, however, the kickstarter yoke would be a good option to allow me to add more recent Star Wars games to that cab. However, it would cost close to what I paid for the Star Wars cab to begin with.

CAD, what exactly does this mean? Are you just running MAME, using emulation station, or something else?
On another note, I received my Rpi4 yesterday
and wasn’t prepared for how tiny it is. Wow is all I have to say.

Has anyone tried out the retropie release for the Rpi4 yet? My Rpi4 should be arriving today and I’m eager to try it out! I saw I think it was ETA prime’s video about loading retropie onto the 4 via raspbian I think it was, but that was before the new release came out.
