First time was rotator cuff and labrum repair. Did not get ahead on the meds after I got home. Worse pain I’ve ever had. So the rehab. It pays off.
Went back to playing rugby again. Tore my labrum again and they also had to do a biceps tenodisis (cutting bicep tendon off the shoulder, drilling a hole in the upper arm bone, and reattaching there).
Rotator cuff pain and immobility was the worst, by far.

I respect the cultural aspect of it and appreciate it. I also grew up playing rugby and follow the All Blacks, so maybe see it a bit differently.
Yes, it's beeen bastardized by so many others, but of the unique culture we have left in this world, it's authentic.

I got divorced when my boys were 7 and 5. It was the best day and worst day of my life. I fought for time and not money, figuring I'd make more money but can't make more time. It set me back about 7 years financially, but got the time i wanted.
Someone above mentioned taking them every time you can. I agree. In the end, I think it has made me a better dad. I made sure i was present and did everything with them when they were with me. I'm not sure i would have always given them the proper time had i been there 100% of the time. I got to see them almost every day, whether in the morning or evening. yes, for a few years, every time I'd drop them off, i cried on the way back to my home. It gets better and they see, in the end, your love for them.

In college, Sam Houston State, I had a rugby teammate that worked at Subway. He gave us free subs all the time until the manager counted 100 loaves of bread short one month. He was fired and we moved the racket to Wendy’s, where we had another teammate working.

In high school, I lived on the other side of the world with my dad. My mom was in the US. I saw her every six months. I still think it effects her to this day.
Having kids myself now, there is no way I'd ever agree to a situation like this, or whatever my mom and dad agreed to.
I too have been divorced. The only thing I fought for was time with my kids, which is double the standard state laws. I figured I'd always make more money, but I can't make more time. Never regretted it.
Go be with your son. Every day that passes is one you can't get back.
