They have single-handedly destroyed Nissan so take from that what you will.

This is the stupidest shite imaginable. If this actually succeeds then EVERYTHING will cost more.

This is not our problem. I’m sick of this crap where the service sucks or fees get added to the bill that shouldn’t be added and we’re expected to waste 20 minutes of our time arguing about it rather than just using the power we have to show our displeasure and let the employee and his boss sort it out later.

I can’t tell you the last time I ordered a steak at a nice restaurant. It’s just too expensive for something I can do as good or better at home on my grill v

Lots of tipping talk in Seattle going on with the new minimum wage over 20 bucks.
California is the same. Server minimum wage is over $20 an hour. Why exactly are they getting tipped on top of that?

If ordered at the same time, $1.
If ordered separately, $1 each.
For people who say I’m cheap, that’s the equivalent to about $100 an hour for time they spend pouring 2 beers.

I agree eliminate tipping, but the crux of the problem is that waiters shouldn’t be making as much as they are. It’s insane that waiting tables can be a $100k job at nice places, or hot girl bartenders……
Restaurants wouldn’t have to raise prices 20% to pay a reasonable wage to their employees. Maybe it’s 5% or 10% and the servers get paid $20 an hour or something.

Yes, we are fed up with it in general and specifically the proliferation of it into places it doesn’t belong. Buy a $15 beer at a game, screen asks for a tip for the stadium person to hand it to you. WTF? It’s a constant barrage of what amounts to panhandling.
Restaurants love tipping because it pushes their cost of labor directly to the customer. Servers LOVE tipping because they make WAY more than they would on a straight wage.
None of this has ever made any sense. Percentage of the cost of a meal is a truly insane way of determining server pay. If I order iced tea for $3 and get it refilled 4 times, the server makes less than if I ordered a beer for $7 and they walk it to me once. If a buddy and I share a table, he orders a steak and I order a burger, why does the server get paid twice as much to bring him his plate? Why would I pay someone $20 to pop the cork on a nice bottle of wine I order off the menu?
All of this is just asinine and it’s becoming much more noticeable as the price of everything increases AND rhe “standard” percentage keeps getting pushed up.

re: What is a good brand of sunglasses?
Posted by NOLAVOL16 on 11/4/24 at 11:43 pm
The only correct answer here :
All brand name sunglasses are made in the same factory by Luxotica at about 1000% markup.
Just buy some polarized knockoff aviators or whatever style you like off of Amazon for $20 and you have the exact same thing minus the brand name that nobody but you will even notice.

If it’s an off road type “golf” cart, this seems like an excellent idea given the conditions of the streets. Save wear and tear on your good car.

I use Waze and cruise at 9 over which usually means there is at least one car passing me every few miles and running blocker for me in case Waze misses Barney.
My biggest gripe about speed limits are that in many if not most cases they are set for political reasons rather than safety. Having 30mph limits on 4 lane divided roads through towns is just a revenue opportunity. Rural interstates are designed for speeds well above the posted limit. Out west you can see 5 miles in all directions. There should be no speed limit in such places. Going 40 in an active school zone though should get your license pulled.

Dale Earnhardt death
9/11
Columbia
Iraq War 2 - shock and awe starts
Bin Laden smoked
Trump winning
Trumps Covid address to the nation

re: is traditional tip culture suffering due to tip everywhere ?

The problem with that is that most places would soon collapse if they were run by your typical McDonalds worker. There would be no profit to share.

“Bar and restaurant shifts are often as low as 4-5 hours. Nobody used to walking with $100+ a shift is going to stick around at $12/hour. So you'll get Burger King caliber employees.”
What it really comes down to is that wait staff has been extremely overpaid for a long time. Especially at higher end restaurants. Filling glasses and walking food 50’ isn’t worth $50 an hour.

The working class has massive amounts of power if they ever get fed up enough. Minimum wage workers could cripple places like NYC simply by moving someplace they could make the same money with 25% the cost of living.

The whole food delivery business model is a complete joke that more people are becoming aware of. None of the people doing the actual work make any money. Uber charges the restaurant and steals the delivery fee from the driver. The app is the only money making entity.
I drove for a couple weeks and quit. The extra spending money wasn’t worth the hassle of sitting around declining deliveries waiting on something that made financial sense to do.

Just come up with some other plausible story for why you left. Two years isn’t a ridiculously short stint
That said, there is a severe lack of accounting talent out there due to a couple decades of those types of people shifting to tech, so you’ll probably land somewhere reasonably quickly. Horrible market for white collar workers right now though.

re: This Realtor advises other buyer agents to raise the sales price to get their commission

Negotiating 99% of house purchases ain’t exactly rocket science. Researching comps takes 15 minutes. Or just knock 5-10% off asking and offer that.
As far as contracts go, an attorney will handle that for $500-1000 and most agents just have preprinted forms and don’t know anything anyway. Paying a buyers agent $15k to drive you around for a couple hours is ludicrous

I can guarantee that almost nobody is going to use a buyers agent and pay for it themselves. Completely useless expense
