re: Lovebug Season is Starting Up - Some Interesting Facts
Posted by triggs85 on 5/7/25 at 5:30 pm
As a pool owner I hate love bug season just as much as June bug season. I’ve been skimming a ton off the surface of the pool and emptying the skimmer daily for about 2 weeks now.
re: Is there any way to get cheap, economical beef tallow?
Posted by triggs85 on 4/18/25 at 9:00 pm
Anytime I cook a brisket I save the trimmings til I have enough to make a big batch. it is a time consuming process to get pure tallow without impurities or moisture, and doesn’t smell the best.
re: Why are cars not towed with no insurance ?
Posted by triggs85 on 8/10/24 at 8:41 pm
If it’s on vehicles on side of the road with out law enforcement present then it’s 72 hour abandoned vehicle notice I think the state is using Red now.No insurance stickers are neon green, and generally in my area are only used for emergent situations where you can’t impound the vehicle. typically if you have no insurance your vehicles is towed and your plate is seized and turned into the DMV.

If it was impounded pending a search warrant it should have been towed to a Secure facility where evidentiary integrity and chain of custody could have been maintained. In my opinion based on the limited facts given, it sounds like someone fudged the impoundment inventory and it came back to bite them in the arse.

Was Mama Brava's at Cortana mentioned in this thread?
Was this the Italian restaurant inside the mall? If so that was probably one of my favorite places as a kid along With El Chicos in front of the mall. Every time we’d take a day trip to BR it was those two or Benningans. As an adult I miss Coyote Blues.
re: Pyrex pan just exploded

We had a gallon size Pyrex mixing bowl explode inside one of our cabinets, no drastic temperature changes. Only thing I can think of it was winter time and the cabinet was on an external wall.

We use a 10 tb Buffalo Terastation at work, definitely check your permissions, also be aware that improper shutdown will reset domain login information.

re: Best way to install under cabinet lighting?
Posted by triggs85 on 4/6/17 at 8:13 am
I used the hue LED strips and ran it to the outlet my microwave is plugged into... Mine was easy because the plug was in a cabinet so I was able to fish the strips through the interior cabinets so there's no visible wiring,

re: Samsung Kitchen Appliances. Thoughts?
Posted by triggs85 on 11/26/16 at 2:02 pm
we have a 4 year old kitchen appliance set, electronics on the stove started acting up a month ago, last week the refrigerator failed, and now the microwave has started running on its own without hitting the start button....Avoid at all cost.

No charges have been filed yet because under Louisiana law he hasn't committed a crime age of consent is 17 and statue CP laws is anyone under 17 ...FBI is looking at it to see if he violated federal CP statutes I'm assuming.
re: Trouble with Cisco switch
Posted by triggs85 on 9/22/16 at 3:01 pm
DHCP is disabled all Clients are configured manually with static IP addresses and primary DNS.. since posting that I've gone through line by line and discovered that the problem switch was actually plugged into the primary router instead of the managed switch while the second unmanaged switch that remained online was plugged into the managed switch. After moving it to the managed switch the network came back online
re: Trouble with Cisco switch

When it fails there is No internet access nor network access...however If we use a secondary public dns (8.8.8.8) then we regain internet access... no seperate vlans... the unmanaged switches are on seperate homeruns.... it happened again today , however this time only one of the unmanaged switches went down... also I've noticed that one computer on the side that went down is connected but the connection is so slow to connect that it's unusable.

the Un-managed switches are TP-Link TL-SG1024D their both on UPS's already ....
Well aware of the risk we're taking, Problem is we're in a budget spending freeze to Jan 1 So i have to limp along til the new budget kicks in before I can ask for more equipment.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but While yall are discussing switches /networking I have a problem that I could use some help diagnosing. My office network consists of a a new lenovo server running Server 2012 hosting AD-DC / DNS responsibilities (Single DC / single DNS, no secondary for failover...Yes i know) There are approximately 50 client computers with 95 percent being Windows 10 Pro machines/ Windows 7. The network is configured so that it goes
Modem = Router = D-link 24 port Managed switch -DC server - second 2012 server dedicated to running Sql) - 18 client connections - and 2 lines that go to two un-managed 24 port switches on either side of the office complex with approximately 32 Clients split 26/6.
The problem i'm having is every few weeks the 32 computers on the other side the two un-managed switches stop communicating with the DC/ DNS Server causing them to lose authentication/ network shares/ and internet access. Meanwhile the remaining 18 clients and servers connected to the managed switch continue to communicate / authenticate without issue. Eventually after multiple restarts / hard resets the 32 clients slowly begin to reconnect. Server Event viewer shows no DC/DNS warnings or errors, and the client side says cannot locate DNS server. The first time this happened it took 8 hours and the second time 5 hours for the network to stabilize. Ive tried everything i can think of in my limited knowledge of networking and suspect the authentication packets are getting corrupted as they pass through the second network switch (All connections are Gigabit connection and the two un-managed switches are less then two months old. Any input is appreciated.

Mobile Home sale questions
Posted by triggs85 on 11/8/15 at 10:26 am
Ok money board, I need some advice. My wife and I are currently in the final phases of purchasing our first traditional home. Currently we live in a newer(2012) Mobile Home (yes I know, but at the time it was the best option for our situation)which we own free and clear. The MH is on a family members' property, and the family member wishes to purchase it from us for $1000.00 per month for 36 months as a rent to own type situation.
My question is how do I go about doing this so that both parties are protected legally and tax-wise

Some enterprising youths jacked A bottle of bayou rum, a few beers, and soft ice chest we had from out of the bed of my truck while we were at the game... We were parked on dalrymple in the cul de'sac in front of the music hall.... What I'm pissed about is they dumped he leftover food we had picked up.

You wouldn't know a LSP BOI vehicle if it was sitting next to you in traffic. When it comes to unmarked, LSP does it right.
