re: initial reaction to the ending of LSU-Tennessee 2010 aka the Miracle in Baton Rouge
Posted by cangrejo1951 on 7/18/22 at 5:15 pm
I was working offshore on a Shell rig while watching the game. At the “end” of the game, I threw my chair across the room and stormed out of the trailer. I went down to my quarters, turned on the tv and found out we won the game. I have never been so pissed off and happy at the same time.

He couldn’t throw out Sid Bream (who had a leg injury at the time) from short left field as he scored from second on a base hit in the World Series.
WTF!

I have never heard of a ground rule triple.

At the time of the hire, I told my buds that I would rather go 11 and 1 or 10 and 2 and lose to Alabama with a guy from down the bayou than with a guy from Ohio. But, I was wrong because we BEAT frickIN’ ALABAMA!

Alabama officiating

Does anyone think it a coincidence that we finally got a well officiated game against Alabama right after getting a great athletic director? I, for one, do not.

Went to the game with five other guys from my floor in Kirby Smith. We drove there in one of the guys mother’s Buick Electra. My first time in a car with cruise control. We got a ticket at 0200 in St. Marys Missouri. The police station reminded me of Andy of Mayberry. Ticket was $35.00. Lot of cash back then. Great game. ND field goal was set up by a bad interference call on Richard Picou. Gave them a first down. We held and they punted out of bounds on the one yard line. We couldn’t move the ball and punted. They got the ball in our territory and kicked the winning field goal.

How did that work out?

Exactly right. Coaching involves identifying your opponents strengths and weaknesses. Avoid one and take advantage of the other. When Miles needed a first down to beat Alabama, he attacked their strength (front seven) instead of their weakness. Did it twice and went 0 for 2. O needed a first down to win and decided to attack the number one rush defense in the country. Looks like we are in the third iteration of Charlie Mc Clendon.

As soon as Hussein reads about this he is going to be as pissed off as anyone! The rouge elements that are responsible will be dealt with harshly. I wonder what time he gets the paper? We should be hearing something any minute now!
re: Darn this board is depressing.Where are the aggie jokes?

I was working in Houston in 1978 and while driving one morning the radio guy said this:
"If you were in the army, it's 0800. If you were in the navy, it's eight bells. If you are an Aggie, the big hand is on the twelve and the little hand is on the eight!
Never forgot it!

Do we really need to go to Georgia to find a qb that could post those numbers? I think we could go to Mc Kinley and do it.
re: How many game tying or game winning drives has coach Chavis's D given up?

Iowa. Chavis couldn't hold a lead if it had two handles. But, let's keep giving him accolades for beating up on patsies and extending his contract.

re: Has Jake Terry been tarred and feathered yet?

He obviously didn't sit where I sat in BDS. I was two rows from the top of the endzone where we kicked the winning field goal and I couldn't see the back line of the endzone while sitting down. The sight line was terrible. It was a real cluster getting out of the stadium, also.

If randle and claiborne stay the real question marks will be Safety play, LB's and QB. I know Mettenburg(sp) is the best QB since sliced bread. But he is yet to take a meaningful snap in SEC play and no one knows how he will respond once he gets hit in the mouth. Honestly no first year starter ever has enormous success out of the gate unless you are a paid semi-professional as in Cam Newton.

If Alabama is considered for the MNC game, they will only have to win three games to get there, while we will have to win four. Also, we would have to beat them twice to win it all, but they would only have to beat us once. In this senario, it was their advantage to lose on Saturday night.
