I know what a coker is, hell ive built and worked on dozens of them.
The thing you refuse to admit is that suncoke has coke batteries at granite city that convert coal to coke.
I think we were arguing about different things or I misunderstood you. No doubt Suncoke still operates some batteries to convert coal to coke without the byproducts processes like old batteries.
They also have petcoking facilities, that's really all I was trying to convey. I'll leave it that most of what you said was correct as was most of what I said. Think I just misunderstood that you thought petcoke wasn't being used in blast furnaces.

Im incorrect that there are coke ovens that suncoke converts metcoal to cke at granite city? Is tgat what you are saying?
I'm saying that the petcoke process is totally different than the old style coke oven batteries.
Petcoke Defenition
Definition:
Petroleum coke is defined as a black solid residue, obtained mainly by cracking and carbonising of petroleum derived feedstocks, vacuum bottoms, tar and pitches in processes such as delayed coking or fluid coking. It consists mainly of carbon (90 to 95 per cent) and has a low ash content.
It is used as a feedstock in coke ovens for the steel industry, for heating purposes, for electrode manufacture and for production of chemicals.
FYI Suncoke has facilities all over USA as I told you before.
Old AK Steel in Middletown, Ohio (now Cliffs) shut down all of their cokemaking operation at that integrated plant in the past couple years. They now are supplied with petcoke from the Sukcoke facility across the street.
The largest cokemaking operation on the planet is US Steel's Clairton, PA facility FYI and they make it the old way, with coal. Also a customer of mine. The EPA stopped allowing permits of these types of facilities being built and the coke from these types of facilities has been replaced with petcoke as the older plants have been shuttered and closed.
Not trying to be a dick or embarrass you, but you're just not correct about most of what you've stated.

Not sure why you're being so obnoxious about this but you're incorrect.
Also not sure why you've degraded to namecalling because you are merely ignorant of the way the industry has changed the past decade or two.
I'll gladly direct you to some sites if you want to understand or learn more.

Nope. You make steel with met coal coke not petcoke.
OK, I've only been working within that industry for 35 years.
No offense, but just do an internet search how petroleum coke (thus the name petcoke) is used in a blast furnace.
Also, petcoke is injected into blast furnaces to make iron, not steel. There are a 5-10 further operations to turn iron into steel. I'd be happy to talk to you about those processes too.

Usually like your posts but this is a nothing-burger, JJ.
Been in that plant hundreds of times, still do business there.
Suncoke makes petcoke, which is made from petroleum and the off-gases are burned and create energy instead of the old way of making coke with coal (and there are lots of useful byproducts such as ammonia, tar, sulfer, etc.)
Suncoke is basically doing what Cleveland Cliffs did the past few years-- they are BUYING their customers. Cliffs had been a mining and freight (Great Lakes) company for decades. Now they are one of the largest steel producers on the planet after purchasing AK Steel and most of Arcelor-Mittal who uses their iron ore and direct reduced iron from their own mines amd manufacturing facilities now.
Anyway, getting back to US Steel Granite City.
Suncoke has a petcoke facility on one side of the road that supplies coke to that facility and USS had a coal based coke plant on the other side of the road and those batteries were shut down long ago.
Makes business sense for Suncoke to do this, if nothing else because if the US Steel plant idles or closes again, that Suncoke facility has no use.
FYI Suncoke has facilities all over the US near "integrated" steel mills that have blast furnaces. Won't mention who owns Suncoke but they're a petro giant.

Trump fired almost no one during his first term.
He had no idea who to fire then. Half of his staff was fricking him. His 3rd legally elected time as POTUS will be different.
DJT did way more than he gets credit for. One example:
Donald Trump leaves the White House having appointed more than 200 judges to the federal bench, including nearly as many powerful federal appeals court judges in four years as Barack Obama appointed in eight.

Nope, I think it will have consequences intended by our Founding Fathers actually.
Leftists will move to Leftists states.
The rest of us can then live peacefully.
Too bad Biden didn't give 2 billion in aid to relocate leftists to California instead of giving it to Angola. Not to mention the 50 billion we've already given to Ukraine in a no-win situation.
