We intend to do more research soon to better understand why our fish population is struggling and what we can do to improve the habitat itself.
Does anyone actually believe the habitat is the issue? Open the pool long after the spawn, in May or June, and see what happens.
I put money on the problem being the marsh version of livescope. All the baws/bawettes with 36V trolling motors getting their boat on plane, while leaning over the front of the bow spotting every bass bed in the pool. You know who you are.
Haven't been to Lacassine in >5 yrs now but I would not be one bit surprised to see casting platforms on the bow of boats now.

Here is a thread I started about an issue with the newer remote-only operated units in case you are wiring it yourself to dual switches for light and fan control. Few posters provided good workarounds if needed. I ended up going with a cheaper outdoor-rated Hunter unit from a box store that had the pull switches.

It's silly, but I have a want for a late-model Escalade EXT.
Not silly at all. I have one that is at ~180k miles. Still looks great and drives great minus a collapsed lifter that I just live with.
edit: Found a picture of mine. I added the platinum front end which wasn't available on the EXT which looks way better.
Meanwhile ol' Cleeter ran 300 ft of charge pipe around his shop and toasted the exhaust valves in Mullet's big block trying to get it to spool up. Didn't matter because that Brodix block had cracks anyway.

Samsung uses something called "RCS" message now

iPhones use this protocol as well
Lets correct the record here. Apple was the holdout and the root cause of the messaging issues until the iOS 18 update late last year which included RCS. Everyone else worldwide had been using RCS for years prior.

Look closely at the right curtain. There appears to be a something crawling down. That light speck looks fake but the dog alerted to something.

This right here. Stop with the X and youtube links. Post gifs.
If you want to save a bit of money that can go towards stocking the bar in this man cave...the 65" LG C3 can be had for less than $1,200 right now.

Was glad to see this note sent out agency-wide yesterday afternoon.
quote:

Dear agency employees,
We are taking steps to close all agency DEIA offices and end all DEIA-related contracts in accordance with President Trump’s executive orders titled Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing and Initial Rescissions of Harmful Executive Orders and Actions.
These programs divided Americans by race, wasted taxpayer dollars, and resulted in shameful discrimination.
We are aware of efforts by some in government to disguise these programs by using coded or imprecise language. If you are aware of a change in any contract description or personnel position description since November 5, 2024 to obscure the connection between the contract and DEIA or similar ideologies, please report all facts and circumstances to DEIAtruth@opm.gov within 10 days.

it will be going into a bright room.
So not a 'cave'. In that case, the general advice is avoid OLED (except brighter high end models which = $$$$$) and opt for TVs using backlight tech, as noted above.
Use rtings.com to see brightness or other metrics to help you narrow down the list or to make an informed decision between given choices provided here.
A LG C3 77" OLED can be found for <$2k online right now, even through Amazon. Occasionally that size will go on sale as low as in the $1600 range because it has now been replaced with the C4 model but is still a quality TV. You won't be disappointment by this TV unless it will go in a very bright room.

What in the way of Merch should be on my list .?
Here is most of my haul from 2022. Only a fraction of what is available. That was my second trip and I was much better prepared for the pro shop visit. I'll be honest, I was completely overwhelmed the first time, even with a list in hand. Hopefully, getting a look at some options helps you.

These are the gnomes they are referencing. Limited availability each day and can only buy 1 of each. Big one is $50. You will see them on ebay 30 mins after the gates open for $3-400.

I would be surprised if the instructions did not show a method to bypass the control box to allow you to wire it to replace an older fan with both a light and fan switch.
Then prepare to be surprised my friend. They are barely in legible English and use stock photos for multiple models whether it is accurate or not. Providing multiple wiring options ain't happening 95% of the time.

Out of 30+ manuals downloaded, only 1 had the secondary wiring option illustrated. It was a Hunter so I gave it a try but that didn't go well. Maybe there was an issue with that fan's internals because it would constantly reset and occasionally trip the breaker. Not worth it!

Thanks for all the help everyone! It cleared up some of my confusion. I am going with a traditional design replacement. Just won't be the look I was going for.

I've checked dozens of instillation manuals of fans I liked. Most look like this. Yes, both example have fan and a light. I'm not sure how bypassing the receiver module plays out even when there is a noted blue wire on the other side like in the second image.

If you walk into the fan section at Lowes or HD 90+% of the options are remote only. The few that have pull switches looked very dated in comparison, which is why I was asking about modern designs. The 3 blade prop design caught my eye.
That Hampton Bay design isn't too bad. Thanks for the suggestion.

Modern ceiling fans suck

TLDR: Help me find a modern design patio rated fan/light combo that I can run with dual switches. A clean design between 50-60 inches and in the 3-400 dollar range. Can even be the prop blade style.

WTF is up with all the new ceiling fans? Looking to replace an Old Jacksonville fan/light combo on the patio. The finish was starting to flake off and the blades sagged. Wish I never trashed it now, after shopping for a replacement.
I like having separate wall switches for the light and fan. All the new fangled ones with DC motors, LED lights, and remote receivers don't allow for dual switch control. Are am I missing something here? Do I have to stick with models that have old style pull switches? Because those are hard to find and there aren't many options.
