People that don't walk behind their own grocery cart. When did grabbing the side of the cart and walking along with it while taking up the whole damn aisle become a thing? Do these idiots think they look cooler that way?
It seriously irritates the hell out of me and I've never heard anyone else ...

In the past, I almost never went into gas stations. Started a new job a little over 3 years ago, and one of the perks is a fuel card. The problem is that I need to turn in receipts and they never replace the paper in the pump. So inevitably, I end up in line waiting for the cigarette and lottery idi...
re: I love the shaming that I get from women for dating younger women.
Posted by TheDude on 2/17/24 at 8:43 pm
I haven't read the entire thread but I have a little experience with this. After my first wife passed away I dated a couple of women in their mid twenties while I was in my mid thirties. Honestly, I found these women boring. We had nothing in common. A hot young body alone does not make for a great ...

Not the point of the thread, but Houston is a seriously underrated beer city. Eureka Heights, Great Heights, Platypus, Baileson, Holler, St Arnold, and the Post Oak Whole Foods are all good shite. I've been to a bunch of others breweries in the city but those are my favorites....

The gimmicky stuff has definitely gotten out of control. Lately when I reach for a beer, it is usually something like a Sierra Nevada Torpedo. I'll mix in a ghost every once in a while.
As for the couple of Houston breweries that shut down, Ingenious was just in a terrible location. Buffalo Bayou...
re: Government Taco Closing?!?
Posted by TheDude on 11/9/23 at 10:26 pm
Government Taco was just ok the couple of times I had it. Nothing special.
I guess I'll have the downvoted hot take on Barracuda. I've never been to the Baton Rouge location, but the Tchoupitoulas location in New Orleans is straight garbage. I've eaten there twice and I can't believe they are sti...

Not even concerned with the performance. No injuries and less fricked up refs, Spurs beat this weak arse Chelsea team by 4.
VERY concerned about the injuries....
re: American Honey Sting by Wild Turkey.

I've never had the honey sting.
I keep a bottle of the Wild Turkey American Honey on hand for one reason. Whenever I get a cold with a sore throat, a quick swig out of that bottle is great....
re: Is beard maintenance really all that important other than keeping it trimmed?
Posted by TheDude on 10/18/23 at 11:39 am
Odd comment, but no.
I simply stated I get compliments to say my beard isn't scraggly or fricked up. If using shampoo on it when I shower makes me obsessed, so be it.
Trust me, if having a beard required a ton of maintenance, I wouldn't have one....

I use some head and shoulders on my beard when showering. That's it.
I get compliments on my beard often.
I have oils, but haven't used them in years.
If I randomly sleep on it weird, I put some water on it in the morning to get it to lay down....
re: Espresso in New Orleans
Posted by TheDude on 10/17/23 at 9:25 am
No. I was on a trip in Portland in 2019. The city is a shite hole now and the people suck at pretty much everything else, but they made good espresso almost everywhere I went....
Espresso in New Orleans
Posted by TheDude on 10/17/23 at 8:59 am
The other espresso thread got me thinking. I've been cutting calories and I've switched my caffeine source to espresso with nothing in it. I enjoy black coffee and I've had great espresso elsewhere. Where can I find a really good espresso in the city? I've tried a few places recently and pretty much...

My question is how high of a number do you need to get anything decent?
Each store gives out 50 in order "opportunities to purchase." Is there anything good left after the 4th person picks something?...

Exactly this. I'll drive unless it wastes a ton of time, which it usually doesn't.
