My son is enlisting in the Navy and we're making the trip for his graduation.

Has anyone attended this event before?

Any recommendations?

TIA

If they are rejecting the electronic filing, then you will need to mail it in and then fight the dispute after.

How long of a dispute am I potentially looking at? I've been able to electronically file with no problems for the last decade.

Federal Tax Return Issues

Posted by King Crab on 4/14/25 at 8:27 am
I've filed my taxes on my own using HR Block for the last several years and I've never had an issue until this year.

The IRS keeps rejecting my return because it says my children's SSNs are not correct.

I have quadruple checked their SSNs (which were pulled in automatically by HR Block due to prior returns by the way) and they are accurate.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is mailing the return the only way around it?

Teres Major steak

Posted by King Crab on 3/27/25 at 12:21 pm
Just got back from the grocery store and the meat department had Teres Major steaks for the first time that I've seen. I've heard they are similar to a filet but they are long and skinny.

How the hell am I supposed to cook these things?

My wife and I saw this trailer when it released a few months ago and we immediately said it looked horrible and we wouldn't waste our time on it.

Fast forward to yesterday when my father-in-law said he came across it on Prime so he watched it. He mentioned it in passing and recommended we watch it as well.

So we did.

Talk about a night and day difference between the trailer and the actual movie. Holy hell.

The movie is good.
The judge overseeing the case denied the settlement that would have increased the scholarship limit to 105.

It's staying at 85 for everyone until the case is settled.
My wife is a huge Christmas movie fan and we generally watch one every night leading up to Christmas Day.

The problem is I am tired of watching the same ones over and over.

Can anybody recommend some good ones that have come out recently?

We watched Christmas Vacation last night and it's still funny as hell. I just don't want to watch Elf for the thousandth time. :banghead:

Strange shoulder issues

Posted by King Crab on 9/28/24 at 9:21 am
Dealing with a strange shoulder problem. I can do shoulder presses, heavy weight and heavy volume, with no issue.

However, I can barely raise my arm to shoulder level without immense pain. Bench press is almost impossible. If I roll onto my shoulder while sleeping the jolt of pain is enough to wake me up.

Any ideas on what this could be?
Has anyone tried the Hims/Hers semaglutide program?

Does it work just as well as the prescription stuff?

Roasting bone marrow for the 1st time

Should I thaw the bones or cook from frozen?

I've lived in the suburbs of several large cities over the last two decades. I'm just looking for the best possible area and I'd narrow my search parameters based on that location.
quote:

What are you looking for? Nice area, not too crowded, low on crime, schools are not a concern.

The most activities? Want a house with a pool, but we'd like to spend a good amount of time on the water, if possible.

The lowest cost? Our kids will be grown so cost wouldn't be that big of an issue. We'd be living quite comfortably.

Within walking distance to the gulf or acreage North of I-10??
Closer to the Gulf would be ideal.
Gonna be retiring soon and thinking of picking the Mississippi Gulf Coast as my final destination.

What's the consensus best place to live down there?
Not looking for a specific cuisine, just something good.
I have a pool table in my garage and during the Fall, Winter and early Spring it's pretty enjoyable.

However, during the Summer it is pretty miserable so we don't play as much.

I'd like to change that so I'm considering buying a 10,000 BTU portable A/C unit.

My problem is what do to with the exhaust. I don't want to cut a hole in my garage door and leaving it 8-10 off the ground means the cold air will escape.

Does anyone know if a company makes a product specifically for this? Like a barrier the length of a 2 car garage you can put down when you need to?
Help a brother out, please.

I’ve recently added one of these to my cart. Just haven’t pulled the trigger. I’m thinking of trying 15 lbs one.

I walk for 30 minutes around my neighborhood every morning with a 20 pound vest.

Definitely gets the blood flowing.
