My high school hockey team was one of the best in the state and I was a 3x Division MVP and 2x leading goal scorer. We scrimmaged against the US Womens Hockey team and it was brutal. The scrimmage lasted 10 minutes and we scored 10 goals to 1 for them with out backup goalie in (our starter was out with Mono at the time.) I scored 4 goals and my coach pulled me and then one of the kids absolutely leveled one of the girls at center ice and they all walked out. This was in 1999.

Been a lurker here for years but wanted to tell two quick stories. In High School I wrestled in a weight class where girls wrestled and my coach told me to go easy and get it done fast. In one match I cross faced a girl and broke her nose and her dad threatened to kill my Mom. Another incident I played Hockey and we were a damn good team. The league forced us to have at least 1 girl on our team. She played sparingly but got 1 assist. That year I had 60 goals 20 more than the next person and was the reigning MVP. The league made her league MVP. She was smart enough though to reject the award but it just shows how equality isn't the goal, its preferential treatment.
