re: Quick Review of my Trip to Fredericksburg, TX over Labor Day
Posted by Grrrl on 9/12/16 at 2:53 pm
Shame to hear Cabernet Grill was a disappointment. I was there last in April 2014 and had a fantastic dinner. Things can change in that time though.
However, glad Becker and William Chris were on the good list! Definite favorites of mine.
I found that really strange as well. Everything just seemed to shut down out of no where. When your day is spent touring wineries, you come back and it's like there's nothing else to do. We went to Luckenbach for some sort of nightlife, but it's a pity there's nothing in town to fill that need.

Over Labor day weekend with thousands of people influx into the area over 80% of the shops still close st 5pm? I really don't get it. It isn't even dark until 8:30pm. You could walk up and down main street and the vast majority of shops and whatnot are closed. Same goes for restaurants and whatnot. Some closed at 9pm some at 10pm. I just don't get that at all.

Don't do wine tastings. It is a rip off. Look for a bottle you think you will like and buy it, it will be a better deal.
You don't really get the point of visiting wineries, do you?
I will agree that if you visit the area often and/or really wanted a low key chill day, bringing a picnic and hanging out somewhere like Becker can be a good time.

LOVE William Chris. I joined the wine club. Pedernales was a nice tour vs just a tasting room, but I personally did not enjoy their wines and even dump a couple out.
I haven't been to Grape Greek yet but have hear great things.
Cabernet Grill is good. Make reservations ahead of time.

There's a bar on Rainey Street called Craft Pride. They also have a little store if you want to buy some stuff to bring back. They're really helpful if you tell them what you like or ask for suggestions.
I'm ok. I don't live in Dallas anymore.
re: Maternity leave in the USA...

Not pregnant, but my company changed our policy not too long ago.
Moms get 6-8 weeks of 100% paid medical maternity leave based on if the birth was vaginal or by c-section, plus 2 weeks 100% pay for "bonding time"
New fathers/adoptive parents also get 2 weeks 100% paid bonding time.

You understand this shite is stupid and fake so the producers can just tell the dude to keep the black chick until that point?
But that's the point. They aren't going to force anyone to keep the black people around that long so they won't have any more pressure to pick them as the next bachelor/bachelorette.
They can stick to their same formula for picking the next bachelor/bachelorette and put it on the results from the previous season.
If they WANTED a black bachelor/bachelorette it would have happened by now.

I was reading about this recently. Will be very unlikely. The next bachelor/bachelorette has followed a pretty basic pattern. It's one of the final 4 (but obviously not one of the top 2). It helps them maintain viewers who already feel invested in these people. Unless someone of color makes it that far you won't see it happen.

I got sucked into this not too long ago.. Needed something to watch while working from home. HGTV, Law & Order re-runs and the same movie channel movies were getting old.
Still haven't watched the new episode yet though.

my company is going all out for the premiere since it's a bunch of geeks.
They've been playing the movies in the theater everyday and they actually rented a screen at a theater nearby for employees Friday afternoon. It was first come first serve and has a waiting list.

Yeah, we'll see how the pecan pie cheesecake bars turn out. First time I've tried them. The rest are so simple or we've done before

The wine was something I just thought of. I have a ton and rarely drink it because I'm a firm believer in finishing a bottle when I open it.
Last night we made a bacon jalapeno cheese ball, chocolate peanut butter pie, brownies and these pecan pie cheesecake bars with a shortbread cookie crust.
Also, I've been around. Just work a lot more during the day now. However this week has been slow since all my customers have taken extra days off and some projects just wrapped up

This, but women are also hardest on themselves.
I would think that most girls who get their boobs done aren't necessarily embarrassed, but it's also not the same as announcing you're pregnant, engaged, etc. You don't go on Pinterest looking for some cute picture or make a chalkboard sign to tell facebook you're getting new tits.

Life is good. Staying busy with work and general life stuff. Trying to think about getting ready for the holidays. You?
