Well that post went well.

Keep trying.
And maybe consider a name change.
There was a time change. Just look down the thread list. It’s now either 11, of 12 or 3:50 or after the Iron Bowl.

Certified expert predictions.
Keep your phone on.
So much over analysis of every move. Dude has a team to lead and a job to do regardless of his next decision. Would expect nothing less than staying focused on the job.
Just a hunch, but feels kinda like if Ole Miss wins today, he stays. Hard decision to be made. I never bought the done deal wave.
If ever a post were to jinx a coaching search, this one may be it.

and people will be posting about they're glad went that route instead of Kiffin

Or they’ll immediately start picking the new guy apart while explaining how they would have picked someone else and telling everyone they knew Kiffin wasn’t coming here in the first place.

It’s usually when you’re certain you’ve got it all figured out that the rug gets yanked out from underneath. I hope Kiffin comes to LSU, but I think all this over confidence by many on this board is just setting up for a letdown. This is a 50-50 shot. There is no certainty.

So much better when you get older, recognize that you don’t know it all and let all that responsibility go.

What awful writing.

Why? Because you disagree with what he wrote? .

Been reading that site for over 25 years. Scott is a hometown guy with a deep love of LSU. He’s got a lot of experience and some good contacts. The site is free and the writing is genuine. Not paid opinions, spin and manufactured news.

Read it again or maybe just go read it at all.

He states that he is less certain about the decision as other schools have matched the Tigers offer to Kiffin. He also states that his usual sources have been silent. Kiffin to LSU is not a certainty my friend. There’s no done deal. Be careful about being so emotionally invested in an unknown outcome. The heartbreak could be real.

It’s honest reporting you’ve classified as awful writing. Jump back on your twitter feed where you’re more likely to be fed with engineered writing that will more closely align with and support your views.

What if it doesn’t happen?

The traffic on this board has been undoubtedly running at ludicrous speed. I’ve never seen so many so deeply invested in their convictions of a coaching decision with so many insiders claiming done deals. But does anyone outside those buildings truly know? What if it’s all smoke and no fire? What happens if it doesn’t happen? The melt on this board will be of epic proportions.

Personally, I’d love to see what Kiffin could do here and I hope he does make the move. I’m just struggling with the idea that a coach who has his team in the middle of a dream season with the opportunity to compete for a Natty would consider jumping ship this close to the goal with so much to play for. Further, why allow this much noise and distraction?

I’m not neck deep in this thing like a lot of people are. It’s been fun to watch the spin. It will be fun to watch the end of this thing play out whether it happens or it doesn’t. The celebration or the melt will be equally entertaining.

I have no inside information, but I've never believed Kiffin would be our next coach. It doesnt withstand reasonable scrutiny.

I am in this camp. I just don't see it happening. The logic of the move doesn't add up. Stranger things can and will happen. However, it's a little challenging to square this circle.
It’s like watching a bunch of kittens chasing a laser pointer.
Not at all. I don’t think he’s coming to LSU. He’s going to UF if he goes anywhere. He would do well here but would be walking into a situation priced to perfection. His price tag is sky high along with the expectations. He would have to deliver championships quickly or the situation would sour. I think there’s a better fit. We don’t need high profile hype. We need a Jay Johnson type.
It’s the way this circus works. There is what’s really going on and then there’s about 10,000 TD experts filling in the gap between hope and reality. Mix in a little hyper sensitivity, add a few twitter posts topped with some “sauces” and the party cranks up. Hard for me to believe that an organization making a decision that involves millions and millions of dollars both in terms of costs and potential future revenues of the flagship program is going to include a fan message board as part of their process. Also hard to believe that anyone involved in that process is going to post out here. So grab the popcorn and enjoy the show. The squirrels are in charge here.

Who has the chest?

Hoards of cash being flushed
Governors inserting themselves into the athletic program
NCAA investigations
Coaches rotating through every four years
Lawsuits
Player tragedies

Seriously, what the hell is LSU football?
Is this really the way it’s supposed to look?

Who is the guy who can come in and course correct this Charlie Foxtrot?
Who has the damn chest to take all this on and place this program where it belongs? Who can establish a new standard?

I’m not touting the return of Saban, and I’m not in the camp that believes he is coming home. However, whoever is selected as the next leader of this program will need to be a lot like him.

Or the coaching changes board won’t have had time to cool before we start this merry go round again.

Why wait?

Posted by Gadzooks on 10/26/25 at 12:34 pm
One limiting factor to LSU doing the inevitable is the buyout. Over $50MM to get rid of this guy. We are going to either spend the money on lost seasons as we wait for his buyout to come down, or go ahead and pay it and move on. Not my money so it’s easy for me to say. But if he’s going to get paid either way, should you just pull the trigger now? Surely attendance and other sales are likely to suffer until he’s gone. There’s no coming back from this. Kelly has lost all support and the only thing fans want to see is his empty office.

So why wait?

I just think the longer he goes the further we will will slide. He’s not a Nick Saban. He’s more of a Gerry Dinardo.

Jury still out for me. He’s a solid coach who should be able to do really well here at LSU. Had to overcome a lot but in year 3 I think expectations are such that we see a more significant step forward.

Road bumps with replacing both coordinators which should be expected to set progress back a little initially. Also gotta learn how to operate in a live environment with all these new pieces. Probably a little uncertain and playing a little conservatively in the first game. They should get in a groove.

Tough to come out of the gate against USC but I would prefer that the Tigers meet those challenges rather than avoid them by playing cupcakes.

Injuries are unfortunate and heartbreaking but part of the game. I expect this team will continue to grow and improve. Lots of talent to work with even if you have to shift some of the pieces around.

There’s only one Saban but I don’t believe Kelly is closer to Dinardo. I remain optimistic that he’s going to have a successful program here.

Either way, I’m not joining the doom and gloom crowd out there. It’s the best time of the year! Why would people wait this long for college football and then start bitching week 1? This is supposed to be fun. A bad week of football beats the hell out of nothing but NASCAR and Golf on TV.

Geaux Tigers!

Hate it when a football coach makes you take a trip to Vegas and spend a lot of money. Should be a law against that.

Summarizing Week 1

Kelly was a bad hire. In over his head. Can’t win big games.
Sloan is a mediocre OC, too conservative.
Nuss is the wrong QB for Kelly
D is better, but long way to go.
LSU will do no better than 8-4 maybe 9-3 with BK here.
The season is practically over, we should settle for watching others in the playoffs.
The sky is falling after the first game of the season.
And
Saban is coming back to LSU.

Miss anything?

Dishing out perpetual misery and doom.
Maybe the page should be re-titled “Tiger Melt”

Anyone have fun with College Football here?
