re: MVB starter next year?

Absolutely not. New coach will bring a QB in. Highly unlikely he stays through the spring

He won’t be back

I hope so.
Downvote if you must, but the LSU fans thumbing their noses at Kiffin blows my mind. Yes, he’s had a rollercoaster career, seems immature at times. The dude wants to win. He is a brilliant offensive mind.
Also keep in mind, Lane is 50 now. I think he’s at that age where if he lands at a LSU or Florida, he will have a 10-12 year magical run. Florida is still a good job despite what this board thinks. I know he and the family love Oxford but he’ll likely never reach the top of the mountain there.
Would hate to see him end at Florida.

The board trust Woodward suddenly. Pathetic
This is what blows my mind the most. He deserves all the credit for the Jay Johnson hire and Kim but for the bread winner, which is football, all he has ever done was over pay for coaches. That’s his model, be the highest bidder. Made a good hire at Washington. Outside of that, it’s been shitty football contracts.
Before anyone says “akchually” it was the new A&M ad that signed Jimbo extension.” Well, the only reason that happened is because guess who was interested in Jimbo coming to LSU after Eaux melted? If you guessed Woodward, you’d be correct.
His model for hiring a football coach isn’t viable anymore. If you’re going to sign and pay a new HC to a ridiculously high number, the coaches name should be Saban or Smart. Sark and Day a level down. Smarts would never leave UGA to come to BR. Saban, if he even wanted to can probably coach another 3-4 years at high level. Texas will not only match any offer Sark would get, but tack about $3MM above the match.
Lanning not leaving Eugene as long an Uncle Phil is still around. Sumrall ain’t it. I just don’t know. I do know Woodward shouldn’t lead the search nor the governor. This hire should be one of the most vetted in CFB history.
Who else y’all thinking?Campbell, Brohm, Drinkwitz or Rhule? I know most think Rhule was a flask in the pan but I really believe he could come to LSU and probably do something special. Especially recruiting Louisiana, where Nebraska isn’t known for their local talent. All these guys are impressive to me and would be the first names I vet after that upper echelon of coaches tell you no, which they will.
Lastly, I didn’t list Brady because he’s waiting on an NFL head coaching gig, which he’ll get in the next year or 2. He does not like to recruit. He’s loves coaching in the NFL

If we’re being honest this was the boards opinion of him before he ever came here. Along with decent coach but can’t win the big games.

I still kind of want Chris Petersen. Two weeks ago I would have been fine with Baker as HC but how many times can you get beat by a running QB and learn nothing from it?
Don’t want Baker as HC nor Petersen.
I think we need to start looking at this differently. I think what A&M did with Elko would be something LSU needs to do. Elko looks much older than he actually is but he’s only 48. Need to find a guy who is somewhat younger and hungry. The landscape of CFB has changed so much with NIL.
Kiffin is probably the only established coach off the top of my head we’d have a good shot at but I think if offered he’s going to take the Florida job. I know a lot of you on this board hate Kiffin but he has overachieved at Ole Mrs and there’s just almost no way to have any kind of sustainable success there. He just turned 50, not a young buck anymore but still definitely has every bit of 8-12 years of coaching in him.
Unfortunately, the timing won’t line up. He’ll take the Florida job and we’ll be sitting with our thumbs in our arse the next two years unless BK decides to just retire. Y’all can thumb your noses at A&M but I think they made a great hire. There are and will be younger guys to make a run at.

It pisses me off to no end they didn’t immediately after the Clemson game shut Nuss down until the Florida game. There’s also no reason he should’ve been out there taking snaps against SELU. If this was managed correctly, good chance you come out of Oxford with a W. Then another whole week of Nuss resting and not throwing before USCe week.
MVB would’ve be capable of getting a W vs Tech and SELU.

Anyone who has watched him play last year could see there was something wrong with him especially in the Tech game. And yes there are "horseshite" posters on here like the ones that said Kelly was lying about the injury to cover for the poor offensive performances. An incredibly stupid take. He was able to make all of the throws last night including the deep ones and was way more accurate with his throws regardless of who they were playing.
I agree. The fricking dude didn’t forget how to sling a football in less than a year. He’s obviously injured to start the season.
I still believe the ACL scare at the end of fall camp was much worse than what was reported. Obviously it’s not completely torn but don’t be shocked that as soon as the season is over, they go in and clean that ACL up.

There are probable 20 or more high school teams in Florida that could have won they game
I agree. That being said, that game is a toss up IMO. On paper and being at home we should win. Bama obviously will be a tough game regardless of their record. Ole Miss is usually a wild game. I think LSU possibly loses to Florida and either bama or OU. I think we’ll roll USCe and Aggie.

i am sorry, but I have to agree with you. OLine will be a major disappointment again.
Most concerning unit on this in my opinion. The interior OL was arse last season. No other way to put it. It was wild how often opposing defenses were able to get so much pressure right up the middle.
As far as the running game is concerned, I’m not very confident they will be able to. JD was able to hide the dysfunction of the run game. Nuss isn’t that and he doesn’t need to. Tuck and make a few decent runs to keep the defense honest. I have zero concern in the passing game. No reason it shouldn’t be stellar. Last year with the worst WR corps LSU has had in a longtime, they still put up decent, not great numbers. There are serious receiving threats on this team this year. Question is will the OL be arse on the interior, will they be able to get any kind of push running the football and other than Durham, will there be quality depth. We’ll see

I’m sure he played with it last season.
Correct. He’ll be fine. Dude has worked hard this offseason and chunked a lot of footballs. He likely just needs a good 2-4 days of rest. He dealt with this last year. When I say I rest I mean a couple days of just not practicing.

I don’t think we could have replaced Saban with anyone better than the goat himself
This. It was just unfortunate Saban came back to college to coach a division rival. I’m not mad at him for it. LSU would not be where they are had Saban not been here.
I was always one of the biggest Les critics there was but you don’t hold a program together that long if you’re a retard. He’s far from it. He just didn’t want to change offensively. Jarrett Lee’s first year really messed with Les’ offensive philosophy. When he was at OSU they slung the ball all over the field.
Saban is the unquestionable GOAT CFB coach and unfortunately for LSU and Les, he coached a divisional rival that we played every season.

In reality he has very little chance to sniff the show. So he could max out his NIL and run it back. He will easily make up for a smaller signing bonus next draft. It’s unlikely he thinks as i do. But he might
This is mostly all wrong. I do agree he may struggle to get to the show though. I do think if he entered last year he would’ve been drafted higher than he will be this year. You don’t come back ay all for a Sr season because he loses all negotiating leverage.

Y’all do know this season was the best coaching season he’s had by a good amount and one of the better ones period anywhere? It didn’t have the dudes like 23’ had. Pitching top to bottom was better this season. There were a few teams I thought were much deeper and talented on offense and some staffs that were solid. I didn’t think they’d win it or go to Omaha going into the season. Very impressive all around from coaches, players and staff.
I thought it was a pretty damn good hire. Let the downvotes pile up, but I was hoping for Vitello or JJ. I liked Johnson’s offensive philosophy. His defenses were arse but they’ve gotten better. That first couple seasons seemed really rough defensively but they’re much improved. Very happy he’s our coach.
The pitching staff they had out there this season was so good when it came down to the nut cutting. I have to give ol Wes some credit. Was not impressed for his first full season but you have to remember, these boys were getting new pitching coaches every season so it’s hard to build consistency and find that groove.

Idk, eyanson could now come back earlier if need be. Not like he's thrown 4-5 innings. If we win, Arkansas would have to beat LSU twice. And that's not happening

Nobody’s afraid of Arky. That being said I do think they are far and away the best team in the CWS. Sucks they and LSU are on same side of bracket.
Having Kade on the mound GM 1 is huge for us and I like our chances. Arky is really good and that team is designed for a CWS series run. It’s all going to come down to that Round 1 game being us

I agree. However, I think whoever wins that super will win it all. That Arkansas team is put together nicely for the CWS format. DVH gets that ship if they get past Tennessee.
And I’m sorry, we can hate Vitello all we want and talk about how douchey a team they are but they’ll have a shot every season he’s there as coach.
I’m hoping our bats come to life this weekend. We have the pitching but offense is booty. All it takes is one game though for the bats to get hot and carry that momentum into Omaha.
