The LA Sabine River Authority has taken control of Cypress Bend, hotel, restaurant & golf course. It is the hope that they (through Sterling Golf) will be able to keep the golf course in it’s current condition (which is really good). The hotel & restaurant need a lot of work, but if the money they spent on the golf course ($6million is the rumored amount) is any indication of their desire for the property to succeed, then there’s a real chance.

This is the absolute best advice you will receive on this situation.
I am headed to the LA Sports Hall of Fame event in Natchitoches right now. I am hoping to visit with John Brady. I will definitely show him this. I will also show it to Ronnie Rantz or someone else with the Hall. May be able to get something from them as well.
I posted this in a different thread.
I enjoyed HT, but it wasn’t a $700 course. Playing 18 with the lighthouse is as iconic as any hole in golf. But outside of that, the only thing to get excited about is the par 3s. As a group, they are fantastic. Only 17 & 18 are on the sound. So for $700 you get 5 great holes.
It looks like they are building housing on part of the course, but some of the course is still looking like a golf course. The guy that I talked to a few years ago said they were considering having 3-5 holes remain open. I think LSUA is probably better off letting it die & using the property for other things.
These damn socialist mayors can’t even keep the trains running on time.

Call Calvert Crossing & see if you can get on. It’s private & is a part of Troon Golf (I believe). Worst thing they can say is no.

Trail’s End is a fun tract, I’m not sure of current conditions. I played in Jonesboro a couple of months ago, I was disappointed. I had heard good things about it & it was just not that great.

If you have the time, go to Mystic Creek in El Dorado. Worth the hour drive. Golf Now has a couple of $79 tee times for tomorrow.
It’s a nice souvenir if the name of the course is printed on it. I am so frustrated with courses (even some nice ones) that have stopped printing their names on pencils. I have even seen one course that has stopped printing their name on pencils, but they spend the money on pencils with erasers.
Yes, having the “luxury” of not having to drag a portable generator out and all of the cords laying on the ground is great. Realistically your generator will only be used for an extended time a couple of times a year. The unseen value is when you sell your home & it has a standby generator. It is one of those things that people will pay extra for.
As a parent of a child with autism, I have what we call Tism Radar. You just start noticing things, because you see it in your child. Kiffin is 100% on the spectrum.

Maybe Super Fan DeAngelo can fund softball.
If he is asking about the # of employees and layout of the bank, then I would say YES there is reasonable articulate evidence that he is about to commit a crime.

He has every right to video on a public sidewalk. I’ll even go so far as to say he has the right to video through the windows. The bank has the duty to close their windows, if they do not want someone videoing the inside of the facility from the public space. But I would think he crossed the line with those types of questions.

If local police departments have not trained their officers how to deal with these 1A auditors, shame on them. They have been around long enough that there should be training, to prevent them from getting the municipality in trouble.

I played Whirlwind several years ago. It was a fun desert course. LPGA Tour played there earlier this year & the conditions looked good.

Jos A Bank used to be good... 30 years ago. Then Men's Warehouse bought them and they went to shite.

I used to buy all of my suits from Jos A Bank because they had XLong sizes & great prices. When Men’s Warehouse bought them the XLong suits went away. Just bought new tailored suits from Dillards. Great fit, pricing was more than I would have liked, but prices for everything these days is more than I would like.

We didn't start struggling until we lost our two starting pitchers and then Brown.

This is simply not true. We have struggled since we lost to McNeese on February 24th. We went 5-5 from that game until the start of SEC play.

technically named The Oakland Plantation Golf Course.

This is correct, but I didn’t want to confuse people with Oakland Plantation Country Club in Plain Dealing. This course is still open, as I played there last week. Interesting layout of 15 holes. Play front nine, then 1-3 a second time then 13-18 are different than 4-9.

Seems like that's a low number. Where are you getting the count from? Not saying that's not true at all, just curious

I am trying to play all of the courses in the state. So I put together a list. Using google to find courses around cities & then piecing it together with rural areas. Of the 126, I have Pelican Point Lakes listed as separate from Pelican Point, but I have Stonebridge (NOLA) as 1 course, so I guess you can say 125 or 127. I believe those are the only 27 holes facilities. Currently I have played 70 of the 126 & 11 closed courses.

At some point I will need help from people on this board to get on private courses (Beau Chene, Ellendale, Le Triomphe, Mansfield, Money Hill & Oakbourne). But right now I’m working on public & semi-private courses around the state.
DEEP THOUGHTS

You are never as bad as you think you are.
You are never as good as you think you are.
Your name is probably not embroidered on your bag & you are not playing on tv. Enjoy the game. Enjoy being outside. Enjoy being with old friends. Enjoy meeting new friends.
Don’t throw your clubs (they are expensive). When you get frustrated, and you will, if you feel the need to throw something, throw your hat.
I mentioned that the golf course at LSUA might be closed. It looks like it is from the highway. I haven’t been by the old clubhouse, but there is a lot of construction on what was the course.

I also saw that Sugar Oaks in New Iberia is now closed. I do not have a confirmation on that.

I also mentioned this in another thread, but by my count there are 126 courses in LA. This includes 2 at Beau Chene & Bayou Oaks.
