2004 Yankees is still the worst I’ve ever seen.

The 2016 Warriors was bad, but, if I remember correctly, Curry was playing with an injury, Bogut got injured in the early 3rd quarter of game 5 and missed game 6 and 7, and Draymond got suspended for a game when they were up 3-1. I can’t remember if the 2004 Yankees had any injuries, but I don’t think they did.

And that World Series appearance took an unheard of, fluky run where they won 21/22 games through the NLCS after sitting at a 76-72 record in mid-September.
2014 Spurs are the GOAT when it comes to ball movement. Check out their playoff highlights from that year.
Holy shite. That may be the biggest sports meltdown I’ve ever seen. And it’s not even after someone’s team losing.

He’s been in so many great films and given so many great performances. My lists could change by the day, but right now for me:

Films
1. The Royal Tenenbaums
2. Unforgiven
3. The Conversation
4. The French Connection
5. Bonnie and Clyde

Performances
1. The Conversation
2. The French Connection
3. Unforgiven
4. The Royal Tenenbaums
5. Night Moves

So hard to leave off his performances in films like Scarecrow, French Connection II, Hoosiers, Mississippi Burning, and Crimson Tide.

frick this list is impossible. He was truly one of the best to ever do it.

“Make no mistake about it, Deputy. I'll cut your fricking head clean off and not give a shite how it reads in the report sheet!”

I can’t wait to tell people who were either too young or not yet born how great college football used to be before this 12/14/16 team playoff expansion bullshite.
5 teams that should get a mention in the OP

2000 Miami
2005 USC
2008 USC
2018 Alabama
2019 Ohio State
Welcome to modern college football, where a team who lost 2 regular season games and didn’t play in a conference championship is going to win it all.
How is “2004 Auburn was robbed” still a thing . Do people really think they would have beat that USC team?

People are just looking at the final result and saying Oklahoma didn’t deserve to be #2 heading into the bowl games. All of the numbers below are AFTER Oklahoma lost by 36 to #1 USC and Auburn beat #10 Virginia Tech by 3.

SP+
2004 Auburn 27.6
2004 Oklahoma 27.2

Sagarin
2004 Auburn 93.33
2004 Oklahoma 92.60

SRS
2004 Auburn 19.86
2004 Oklahoma 21.23

SOS
2004 Auburn 1.94
2004 Oklahoma 6.85

Margin of Victory
2004 Auburn 20.8
2004 Oklahoma 18.0

Even after getting their asses blasted by USC, Oklahoma is still nearly dead even with Auburn in SP+, Sagarin, MOV. They’re still ahead in SRS and SOS. And heading into the bowl games, Oklahoma was ahead of Auburn in SP+, Sagarin, MOV.
2019 Ohio State was definitely better than 2024 Ohio State.

2024 Ohio State is really about to win the championship while losing 2 games and not even playing in their conference championship game
Cox did have his flaws in the playoffs, but I wonder how much the addition of the Wild Card made a difference. It’s become a lot more rare for the best team to win the World Series ever since they added the Wild Card. The 1996-2000 Yankees are really the only team to have found the solution. The 2017-2023 Astros are probably the next closest, but their two best teams during that stretch didn’t even win the World Series (2018, 2019)
Legitimately a contender for the worst sports thread I’ve ever seen on this site. Holy shite.

re: Can we go back to the BCS?

I know a lot of people will disagree with this, but what made college football great to me is that 1 loss had a great chance to kill any hope a team had for a championship. 2 losses completely killed any hope a team had for a championship outside of the once in a lifetime type of season in 2007. Now you’re going to frequently see 2 and sometimes even 3 loss teams win the championship

Even this season, no one other than Ohio State-Michigan fans really gave a shite after the Michigan upset because everyone knew Ohio State was still going to be in the playoffs with 2 losses and without even playing in the conference championship game. That game would have been absolutely massive in the BCS or even the 4 team CFP.

I know I’m just complaining to complain because we’re never going back to that. Instead, we’ll get another couple of playoff teams added in the next few years.
I know it’s Globetrotter747 without even looking at the username anytime I see a comment talking about how overrated 1995 Nebraska is.
