I'm conservative leaning, but come on. Corporate bailouts without any rules would be bull shite. If Big corporations are begging for public money there should be rules around how they use it.
If a company takes bailout money, the rules should be:
- no executive bonuses until the $ is repaid
- no layoffs until the $ is repaid
- Move your headquarters from an international PO Box and agree to pay your fair share of taxes going forward

It keeps us from overwhelming our healthcare system but nothing gets back to normal unless there’s a cure or vaccine. The economy is going to be crippled with a year of this.
As bad as this will be, and it will be very bad, the expected impact of 100,000s (if not millions) of deaths in the US, and our healthcare system being steamrolled, would have been worse.

It wasn't cherry picking. Because of what Trump did, this was inevitable.

Behind the Virus Report That Jarred the U.S. and the U.K. to Action
It wasn’t so much the numbers themselves, frightening though they were, as who reported them: Imperial College London.
quote:
That messy back-and-forth has been on vivid display this week with the publication of a startling new report on the virus from a team at Imperial College in London. The report, which warned that an uncontrolled spread of the disease could cause as many as 510,000 deaths in Britain, triggered a sudden shift in the government’s comparatively relaxed response to the virus.
American officials said the report, which projected up to 2.2 million deaths in the United States from such a spread, also influenced the White House to strengthen its measures to isolate members of the public.

NewYork-Presbyterian performed more than 500 tests for the novel coronavirus Saturday, and 50% came out positive.
We are still barely testing anyone, and when we do test, the % is much worse than we could have ever anticipated.
You are about to live through something horrific. I just hope you come to your senses with enough time to look out for your family.

This is fake news.
The Coronavirus doesn't exist.
The President is on the record that this is a hoax by the Democrats.

Why did Trump start taking this seriously?
He didn't get brainwashed by CNN or MSNBC.
Trump was told about the report created by Imperial College London, that all of the other world leaders are taking seriously in regards to this crisis.
Per that report, done by the leading experts in the world, if we had done nothing, 4 million dead in the US. With a moderate response, 2 million dead in the US. With extreme measures (nation wide lock-down) tens of thousands dead in the US. We are somewhere between moderate and extreme.
Google this report and read it. Take it seriously. The hospitals will be completely overrun soon. There is nothing we can do to stop it now.

outbreaks such as these

there are outbreaks like this yearly
These statements are completely at odds with the Imperial College London report that Trump and all of the world leaders are following. Google the report, and Google the experts mentioned in the report, and look up their backgrounds.
What has annoyed me though throughout this entire process is people who think they know a lot about this situation, when it is terrifyingly obvious they have no idea what they are talking about.
