re: My greatest fear avoided

Saban coached a horrible game to get this NC, and was just plain lucky that he got there, much less that he won. Texas came very close to pulling the upset with a cold off the bench freshman!

Don't Panic! This is NOT just the begging. It is too easy to forget that all the other dudes, Miles, etc, all get paid to work as well.

the guy that started this thread sounds a lot like last years Florida fans, counting the multiple National Championships. Who knows where this ends up. Does anyone see Saban doing this, at his pace and attitude, for more than 5 more years? I don't. The dude is going to have a stroke!
I know I should do better research, but someone please fill me in on the meaning of the duct tapped horns! Thanks.

re: So what if Saban ......

No chance. Saban and Bama tanked it last year like spoiled brats pouting at the crappy Six Flags because Daddy wouldn't take them to Disney. Texas is not up to this, and they will get handled.

re: Urban Meyer stepping down...

My bet is the self destructive behavior is the typical coach behavior, shared with guys like Saban. I doubt it is more than that.

At first I was, admittedly happy to hear this news, although that may make me a poor sport, but I know think this totally sucks. What the hell is beating Florida going to be worth next year? Nothing! Its going to make me sick seeing all the specials during games next year, portraying UF as some sort of modern day Marshall. Loosing Tebow and Meyer in one season! Oh the cruelty of it all! How can they go on!? Look how brave the boys in orange are, fighitng on without the two greatest leaders in the history of sports, the USA, and human history!

At least it detracts from human interest stories on Saban.

Last night gave me the standard, win is a win, feeling.
Kelly has to be the front runner. He is the hot name right now. HOWEVER perhaps the Irish will realize that hiring another offensive genius may not be the best choice. They need someone to fix their defensive recruiting problems. They are a good offense that can't recruit a decent D-Lineman or linebacker.

I hope and pray that there Papal intervention, and Urban is called to South Bend by a higher power, but I don't see it happening. All the hype is over a comment Meyer made BEFORE the successes of the last 3 years. At one point Meyer probably did think Notre Dame was his dream job.

Any Gator Rival SEC'er who is trying to convince themselves that Meyer will leave the Swamp is delusional. Like it or not he has created THE dream job in college football. He has a recruiting MACHINE that shows no sign of slowing, and as all of us Southerners will admit, no one in their right mind, much less someone raking in millions, wants to live in Indiana over Florida.

As much as I loathe Tebow, I very much want to see him play, and will feel cheated if he doesn't. I don't think him sitting, with the "win one for the Gipper" emotion on the Florida side helps us one bit. Not playing Tebow would be like running a marathon and skipping the last mile.
We won't see Sheppard as the "option guy" because the entire stadium, and the other team, will know that is what's coming. Crowton has shown much predictability in that regard. I would love to see what is suggested, and allow Sheppard to run the option for at least 3-4 plays against Florida, though I bet we will get 0 yards, if ONLY they would allow him to pull up on a later option and make a deep pass.
I don't see it making a difference. I am making a leap, but do the Tigers play better after a bye? the problems we have shown seem to get better with game play, and playing Georgia, at Georgia, and winning may prove to be much more beneficial than anything else.

New Suggested Celebration Rule

Posted by tarsier99 on 10/4/09 at 5:32 am
I suggest the SEC implement a new rule for post TD celebration, making the only allowed celebration activity the "One Knee Prayer Move", conducted specifically as such:
One knee down, head bowed short prayer lasting no more than 3 seconds, but no shorter than 2 seconds, followed by the contrite handing of the ball to the nearest official, again with head bowed, not making eye contact with the players superior, the referee, who through his gentle kindness and charity allows the rough uncultured young hooligans (of questionable ethnicities) the gift of acting as the focus of the Referee exhibition that we call a football game.
C+, with extra credit for the win.

B in first half (should have been A with TDs, not FGs)

JJ does allow too many sacks, and bad deep ones at that, but he is certainly improving, and I am sure the coaches will get him there. He IS only in his 7th game, right? I think we have forgotten he didn't start last year, and basically played the bowl game.

The Option is HURTING to watch. Why are we torturing him in the option? Just let him run the ball by design. He totally gave up Williams on that one play, and on more than a few occasion it was all he could do to slip between the end to get back to the line of scrimmage.

TC McCartney ???

I just saw the video on ESPN about TC McCartney. Is this kid any good, does he have a chance to actually play one day?

re: Miles is a Fricking Genius

Seriously? Not joking? Really?

You think that he directed Jefferson to fake being confused, and the O-Line to look confused, and Tolliver to drop balls?

You may be right. I never thought it about it from that angle.

You are RIGHT! Les is not a half crazed, hair on fire, maniac with two lame coordinators, its just the plan. Come to think of it, Les does look a bit like George Peppard...cue the A Team Music, ah, just imagine an LSU Hat on George....

This is a message board, not the stands of the game! You rant on this, you cheer at the game. Speaking the truth doesn't equate to being a bad fan.
I am sure he is the best we have. I think getting excited about his physical attributes, and not realizing that we had, BY FAR, the second best QB in that game is truly irrational. If the best thing he can do is run the option, which won't last long sice I haven't seen too many 6-5 running backs last very long, we better prep someone else to play the position.

For the D-Line I will be slightly more generous than O-Line (F), and give them a D minus. The total rushing yards was 157, bolstered by 50 by the QB. What gets me maddest, and maybe was irrelevant, was the last drive by UW. Being unable to stop them, and go out with the ball, was disappointing.

B- for the O line? What game did you watch? We couldn't run the ball consistently against University of Washington! The announcers on ESPN are paid to hype the game. They will compliment the players on both sides of the ball until it sounds like there are 22 Heisman candidates in the game. Don't believe it. At the end of the year we will NOT look back and think UW had a better D Line than any of our SEC opponents, minus Vandy (maybe).
RIGHT! Someone at Tiger HQ better get real, and FAST. Screw that Negatiger BS. Watch the game and face facts.

1. We were killed in time of possession, based on the D-Line being manhandled. No joke. Think Washington has a better O-Line than Bama?

2. How many defensive stops were ALMOST made only to watch the Huskie QB outrun, easily, a slow end or tackle? Why wasn't there a backer on him! Did Chavis think that Raheem Alem was going to will himself to 4.5 speed!

3. Did anyone notice the overall look of awkwardness, the "about to fumble the handoff" nature of Jordan Jefferson? Does it not look like the most basic component of running the ball, the QB-RB handoff is so awkward it slows our plays down?

4. Other than seeing the TV cuts to Chavis looking old and tired (the time change must have KILLED him) on the sidelines, it looked like last years team on D.

My biggest concern is that we didn't look ANY better on D, and those that think we will be OK by getting in to scoring battles better pray hard, cause I don't see it. Who would have thought that Washington had the more impressive QB, RB and Receiver!

Feel free to think Utah got ripped off by not getting a better bowl match up, but beating an overrated Bama doesn't make them #1, no matter what the other Mt West teams did.

Another Bama egomaniac. Geezzzz, you weren't that good, and last I checked, beating Bama doesn't make you #1...unless your Florida.

If it wasn't for the media love for Saban, and the early defeat of what turned out to be a weak Clemson team, you wouldn't have had delusions of grandeur. You beat mediocre teams, including my beloved Tigers. Your big win was Georgia, who went on to show who they really were by getting embarrassed by Florida and shamed by in state rival Ga Tech.

Get over yourself, look over your schedule. Did you really beat Tulane 20-6 and think your the best team in the BCS?

Don't worry, Saban will coach the team when it counts, but sadly, don't count on him to win you games that don't count as much. LSU lost the Capitol One bowl the year after winning the BCS with Saban, who didn't seem to care much, but then again, he was on his way out the door.

Thinking of that...anyone check the charter flights from New Orleans on Friday to Denver or New York? Just kidding, we all know you won't loose Nick to the NFL.

Happy New Year! Only 8 months till SEC football! Urghhh
