Evans for sure, but Frey's base-clearing double was easily the most important play of the game.

I agree. Those two rally killers being Jones and Braswell. I'd say take a chance on Reaves at 3rd and bench Braswell and move Jones to 6 or 7.

Little Rock pitching

After playing four games, shouldn't LR be down to maybe their 9th or 10th best pitcher by now? And the fact that they were a pretty lousy team all year (losing record against mediocre competition), wouldn't that mean that their available pitchers are equivalent to decent but not great high school talent? And that being the case, shouldn't we hit the shite out of them tonight?

I get how an inferior team can get on a hot streak hitting where they just have that intangible mojo thing going on. But not so with back end pitching, right?

I'm not a baseball savant so please educate me, those of you who are.
Might be thoroughly obvious, but I'd say we want to play LR as DBU does have some decent hitters who could get hot.

Jared Jones' defense

Don't know much about baseball, but seems to me that J. Jones has played great defense at 1st all year. Yes, his hitting has been awful for a while now, but I can't remember one bad play he's made at 1st. Am I wrong?
Add to all this the fact that he seems to be a respectful, decent person. Has to have the proudest parents of all time.
Not as familiar with NCAA baseball as many of you. Got a question: Why is there such a big disparity between the weekly rankings, where we are #1 or close to it, and the NCAA tourney seeding where we're sweating it out to be top 8?

Seems like he swings and misses on first two pitches every at bat, down 0-2. We won't go far if he and Curiel keep slumping.
Assuming Evans gets start. Any chance Cowan goes an inning or two?
Lyn and Big Ben are my absolute fave duo in the booth. Eyes lit up when I turned game on and heard their voices.

Better to not be #1 going into playoffs. Less pressure.
the guy loves LSU and did his best when head coach. Always did and will like him.

Tiger Baseball announcers question

Posted by NewportTiger on 3/30/25 at 11:03 am
Does anybody know how they determine who will announce our baseball games? Haven't seen Lyn Rollins past few games. Last night was maybe Blair (?) and a color commentator who was unbelievably boring and dry. I prefer Rollins. Sorry if obvious, but have no clue and I like Rollins.
Fun fact: Kiki Rice is niece of Susan Rice, former national security advisor an UN Ambassador for Obama.
Gotta love Lyn. Great personality which, for me, is 95% of being a good baseball play by play guy.
Serious question: Does he definitely make it to the big leagues? Starter?
