re: Only 3 SEC Defenses Had A Better 3rd Down Conversion Rate Than Our Defense
Posted by SNAKE on 1/5/15 at 9:43 am
Actually there are 4 SEC teams in ahead of us. Auburn finished 29th, just nipping us out. I'm sure that in the proper context this stat has a value. But as evidence of how misleading or useless it can be , AUBURN just fired it's defensive co-ordinator.

I cannot imagine a fan base bitch more about refs than LSU's.
Funny that only 3 people on this Texas fans thread felt the need to flip it to LSU. And all three are from Alabama! It's also funny to note that Saban's last 2 years @ LSU the team ranked 5th & 10th in the SEC in the least penalized category.
Both of these were behind Alabama. Oh and did I mention that the two years Saban was in the pros,
Bama finished ahead of LSU.
Apparently moving to Bama made Saban's teams much more disciplined. The 1st 6 yrs. @ Bama his teams were ranked 3rd twice and 1st four times in least penalized. Of course all of these ranked ahead of LSU. I guess it's only right to believe a totally improbable stat (at least 10 years in a row, even with head coach switching teams) on officiating without the officials having anything to do with this almost impossible outcome! :banghead: :pimp:

Of course not!!! Although, admittedly, there is no good reason for thinking you wouldn't want to represent yourself on the rant in an honest sort of way. This got me leaning in another direction. This new point of view changed everything. You aren't the guy to the left. You're the guy on the bottom.
Gary, Amber's boyfriend!!!! You're not retarded,
you just like slinging the name around and posting pics to make fun of " retards. " ha ha. You're just a lazy fat arse that hides behind 3,4 word responses and like in "the Sound & the Fury" they signify nothing. Once again, my regrets.

This is a retarded complaint.
No, retarded is somebody that responds to information that forms an opinion that can easily be supported by facts (Peterson's return stats and accomplishments as a return man at LSU & as a Pro), by name calling and without an ounce of objective evidence to the contrary.
Since you injected retarded into the conversation and I introduced lack of objectivity/lack of knowledge into the conversation , I've seen something that really makes me re-think my position. After seeing your picture , I can speak with certainty that you, sir, not only
have expertise on retards but with total
confidence that you have "insider knowledge"
on the afore mentioned subject! My sincerest apologies , sir and my deepest sympathy for your photo !

Beckwith not starting til way beyond the point of being obvious to everyone, a replacement was needed. This might have been a decision from the man upstairs. You know the same guy that waited 3 years to get PATRICK PETERSON to RETURN PUNTS and

Play to short side of field & saint made no effort to stay in bounds ! Almost designed to stop the clock ! I was suprised he made 7 yds to the 5 !! It saved the falcons time & a time out. Just enough !!!!

on our drive why are we casually running out of bounds @ the 5, stopping the clock ? This along with the bad luck of the saints player injured on falcons final drive might have given them just the time to tie/win !!!

Oglethorpe brought debtors from England to settle Ga. The hard-core criminal element of this group went to Alabama. They migrated past Columbus and Auburn on westward to the Tuscaloosa area . Over the years they have managed to stay out of trouble by

LSU La'El Collins Senior (2nd team all SEC)
ULL 2 seniors (2nd team SBC) 2 juniors (nothing)
ULM not sure. Not sure about the entire SBC, but just these 2 schools have more than 1/3 the amt.of the entire SEC? This has got to be wrong
:banghead: What is the criteria for Lombardi selections & who selects them??

But seriously.... If only LSU had intergrated in the 60's. Imagine Pete, Elvin Hayes and Don Chaney on the same team.
Besides the " Big E " Hayes from Rayville and " Don the Duck " Cheney from Baton Rouge, the third starter for University of Houston was longtime Globetrotter from Monroe, Theodis Lee!!
They of course, broke UCLA's 2 year win streak in the " game of the century " played in the Astrodome
re: Why isnt LSU the primetime Friday game?
Posted by SNAKE on 5/26/14 at 1:49 pm
Most of Bertman's career was w/the old 6 team regionals befofe the super regionals were introduced. 3 games the 1st day , & I think starting times were about 1, 5 and 9pm @ most sites. Most all host schools that had the lights, started the late slot. Texas was the only host school to take the 5pm slot. Good idea for fans & team. I think LSU played a game @ midnight due to weather/extra innings of earlier game. Not only was the team worn out the next day , we lost our home field advantage because most of our fans left. lol During the 90's other host teams around the country had games delayed til the next day, turning their advantage to a great disadvantage!
I think the NCAA has a rule about starting games before midnight. Most home teams started playing during the day. This carried over when we went to the 4 team regional/super format in , I believe it was 1999!
I repeat: The change was made by Bertman because it was smart, and it made the teams seeded below us deal w/the weather (exacerbated by extra inning games}!!

In the late fall the wind frequently comes from the north and exits to the south. Now that the 3 sides other than the north will be higher, I wonder if that will affect the wind. Could it give us a home field advantage ? Has anybody heard anything about this ? thanks :geauxtigers:

I feel like this conversation is had EVERY YEAR.
Actually it was held yesterday.
To the OP: Better chance that weather would push the 2nd game to an extremely late start or even the next day. Taking game 1 might not be as good for the fans, but it's a better bet for the team!
re: LSU's post-SECTourney Resume for a National Seed
Posted by SNAKE on 5/25/14 at 8:44 pm
In addition to all the good things you said about the SEC & LSU :
The school & the conference have the best tourney & CWS records over the last 25 years.
LSU finished #2 in SEC averaging the reg season & the tourney. And that is in THE conference that represents 14 TEAMS! SEC deserves at least 2 National seeds.
# 1 Our AD is on the seeding committee!

re: Most Important Question: Does LSU play the early game Friday?
Posted by SNAKE on 5/25/14 at 10:03 am
No, most schools learned a long time ago that any advantage to playing the nite game ( cooler, fans are off from work. ect) is more than off set by the much greater possibility of the 2nd game being played really late or even delayed til the next day due to bad weather. On the other hand if you play 1st you may get that advantage!

The biggest danger of using sarcasm (in this case it came in the form of explaining the obvious) on the rant is that the tards take you literally! In this case the sarcasm was appropriate because of your conclusion that ULL was proved really good because of this victory in an early season, mid-week, rain shortened game. According to this logic, look out Tulane, they whipped us in 11, 1 month later in the season.

I don't know why LSU fans are so hard up on saying UL is not a top 8 team.
Where did I say that they are not a Top 8 ? I only supposed what the selection committee might do under certain circumstances.

UL beat LSU head to head, so I'm not sure why you'd try to lessen their perceived strength.
Mainly because of pitching, baseball is not like a lot of other sports. To determine the best teams you need to play a series. Because of the inclusiveness of college baseball these series need to be only 3 games or in post season play, double
elimination due to time constraints. We are excluding the dumb arse SEC tourney from this format, which is played just for money. Hell, Skip used to throw away some early season games just to get info about his own players. A single 5 inning mid-week game that early in the year means nothing about which team is the best right now!
quote:
they have 52 wins. Probably 53 after tomorrow. You just don't do that without being EXTREMELY good.
If you put a high school senior in a 1st grade class and he tests much higher than the kids, what does this prove? NOTHING !! He may be really smart, but we don't know!! We need to see the results of his age-appropriate tests. 53 wins with this schedule tells us nothing other than they are consistent winners against bad teams!

Not just in this thread but I've heard the term " national seed " as a top 8 seed & a top 16 seed.
Lets get on the same page.
What about if Bama drops out of the the top 25. Doesn't this possibly knock ULL out of the top 8 ?
Then the only top 25 ULL victory was a rain shortened mid-week game 3 months ago!!
LSU top 8 seed ? Isn't our AD on the selection/seeding committee to make the case for LSU in a close call situation ?
