Lol at the big delusion in this thread.
Most white americans are mutts, which does mean they are of mixed ancestry, there is no such thing as being "Irish-American", "british-American", "German-American" or whatever you which, 90% of "white americans" are big time mutts. but some of the truths are here:
80% of "white americans" are of predominantly English, Scotch-Irish, Ulster-Scots, Welsh or Irish Ancestry. When I mean predominantly is that at least 65-70%+ of their DNA/Ancestry comes from those lands. Now why I am grouping the British Isles Ethnicities with the Irish here, because you will have hard time to tell them apart by looks alone, genetically the Irish are not celts, neither the English are mostly "anglo-saxon"/Germanic , they all come mostly from the same substrata of "old-european" ancient britons, who are related to other atlantic european populations, they arent germanics by any means, neither they are celts, at least they have nothing to do with modern central-european celts either, they are culturally celtified/germanized native britons.
1)White americans who do 23andMe and other genetic test often come up with results being overhwelmingly british Isles/Ireland
2) White americans claim what is more recent and fancy, hence they ignore their english or British heritage and claim anything which sound more interesting.
3) Most white americans have also minor black african and hispanic/native american ancestry, also confirmed by dnam which also shows up in the way many white americans look like.
4) America counted as "german" any german speaker, half of them werent actually ethnic germans from germany, but alsatian/allemanic-french, swiss-german/amish, and from chekoslovakia, who are not really ethnic germans but german speakers, many of diasporas in eastern europe already mixed with the local populations. Let alone talking about german jews, many of those who had german names, spoke german, but genetically they are something else.
