re: Looking for a good tent
Posted by TexasTiger05 on 11/27/22 at 12:06 pm
Solid advice, but he's 13 and will use the tent when he's at camp in June (eta- not just this June, he'll be going to camp for many summers to come). Probably won't get much use of it during the year- that's why i'm looking for good quality, but not too expensive. His use of it will be when he goes on overnight-two night paddling trips and cabin overnights. He's more into that than the extended backpacking trips, but it's also not out of the question. Like the cooking system idea, too, but the camp provides those.
We could have him pick it out but it's for his Christmas gift

What did he sleep in last summer?

Thanks!
yea, the 5lbs had me wondering. He mostly goes on paddling trips that are about 2-3 night overnights, but hiking isn't out of the question either. Good point about the lack of mesh.

Looking for a good tent
Posted by TexasTiger05 on 11/25/22 at 11:14 pm
My son goes to camp in North Carolina for all of June every year, and we'd like to get him a tent for Christmas. I've just started a basic search and i'm not finding good reviewed tents for under $100.
Came across this marmot tent that's on sale and, based off the reviews, seems pretty solid. LINK
But definitely looking for other suggestions. Don't want to go above $150, if I can. help it. tia

re: American Girl's 2020 girl of the year is 1st doll with hearing loss

American Girl also makes their dolls without hair and has other accessories that would help be supportive of kids with disabilities.
It's a great company. Glad the hearing impaired kids now have a doll they can related with.

we were just there. Had a great time.
Flight of Passage was everyone's favorite of all the Disney parks. There's a bar right by it too.
Galaxy's Edge is awesome. The Millennium Falcon ride was great.

re: Stolen Ipad, tracking not on, is there any way to still find it?

Appreciate it. No cell plan.
Last hope is if they can track the guy that took it based off of the surveillance camera that caught him. I doubt much will come of it.
Thanks OT

Appreciate it, it's my daughter's. I should have held onto it for her.
I wish it could emit some kind of signal that would ruin the asshat theifs other electronics. Apple needs to get on that one.
The guy that stole it is on video. My hope is he'll be easy to track.

Kicking myself for that now. It was a gift that was given in a really difficult time and we are all on autopilot for awhile

ry getting a straight answer about what something will cost from a doctor or nurse. shite is laughable.
I'd rather them know how to treat me or a family member than have a running list of what their hospital charges. In my experience with high dollar tests and treatments they act cautiously because they know things like MRI's and CT's are expensive.
And for all they know you've met an out of pocket cap or certain things are out of network. It's a bunch of pieces that I wouldn't hold one person to having all the knowledge of- that's a whole other department.
