What FSU did to SEC heavyweight Alabama last weekend, and what Clemson nearly did to LSU, should make clear what was obvious all along.

What this reveals is that the ACC recognizes they are inferior. Doesn’t matter the ranking, they are always punching up. Feeling like they are little brother!

It’s not the player, it’s the type of run. Some plays require patience. Like traps and counters. I think on a few of those outside zone plays they took to long to develop and on top of it we left the backside defensive end unblocked.
The Clemson RB is 6-2; 235 I think there may be a scheme/ personnel component.

Pop quiz…. Hotshots?

LSU has a JD
a P.J.
an A.J.
a J.T
2 DJs
and 2 CJs

So don’t be a DA… who are they?

Definite possibility at corner… if DJ is NOT ready week 1 and stamps or woodland don’t take a big step.

Jackson would be CB2
Tamarcus Cooley thrives in the box mostly started at Nickel during his first 2 seasons.

AJ Haulcy is an aggressive big hitter with great instincts and had 5 INTs
Defensive Grade (PFF): 80.5
Coverage Grade (PFF): 85.5
—> He is a projected strong safety and spent most of his time as strong.

Delane
Has spent time everywhere including. Both safety positions (although most admit he is likely our best corner option)

Gilbert
Played free safety at both LSU and Texas AM. For whatever reason I felt like he was down in the box a lot for LSU ( Furthur, he had a the shoulder)

Spears
Is a name that is the up and comer; the guy that might surprise but he is more of a star (S 6-3 208) big strong safety? Free?

Maybe, I just don’t want it to be Gilbert? Just hoping his play was the injury and not purely ability…

If it’s not Gilbert; who could be the 2025 LSU Free safety?

Clemson’s run may be coming to an end

Clemson’s talent level is declining.

In 2023, LSU has a 71% blue chip ratio
Clemson had 72% blue chip ratio
In 2024, LSU had a 70% blue chip ratio
Clemson had a 64% blue chip ratio
???? Clemson had an 8% drop from 2023 to 2024 in blue chip ratio.

Recruiting Rankings
* 2025: Currently Clemson ranked 26th nationally and 3rd in the ACC, according to 247Sports.
* —> LSU’s 2025 Recruiting class: 10th ranked class
* 2024: Clemson ranked 11th, according to the 247Sports Composite.
* —> LSU’s 2024 recruiting class 7th ranked class.

2025: Transfer portal adds for Clemson
Will heldt .93 4 star Edge
Tristan Smith .90 4 star WR
Jeremiah Alexander .86 3 star LB
Same cycle (2025) They lost 9 guys including 2… 4 stars

2025: Transfer portal adds for LSU

Bernard Gooden 0.9200 DL
A.J. Haulcy 0.9000 S
Tamarcus Cooley 0.9000. S
Patrick Payton 0.9500 EDGE
Nic Anderson 0.9500 WR
Josh Thompson 0.9400 IOL
Barion Brown 0.9300 WR
Mansoor Delane 0.9100 CB
Jack Pyburn 0.9100. EDGE
Braelin Moore 0.9300. IOL
Ja'Keem Jackson. 0.9100. CB
Jimari Butler 0.9000. EDGE
Michael Van Buren Jr. 0.8900 QB
Bauer Sharp 0.8900 TE
Sydir Mitchell. 0.8600 DL
Donovan Green 0.8600 TE
Destyn Hill 0.8400 WR
Grant Chadwick 0.8000 P

2024
Clemson added 0 guys from the portal
LOST: 12 including 2…. 4 stars

LSU added 9 guys 3…4 stars and 4…3 stars
Z. Thomas .90
CJ. Daniels .92 (gone)
J. Gilbert .93
Suggs .87 (gone)
LSU Lost 19 in 2024 (and 20+ in 2023)

Now consider how many of the 2025 transfer class is + .90 …. That’s not normal for any program. 12 of 18 above .90 and 2 guys at .89

This 2025 game may be close, but 2026 looks to trending towards LSU with the biggest question for both teams who will be under center.
Is this the dude with the 6’10 wingspan?
Do you not see a difference in the freshman or sophomore guy that’s in line to take over and the guy who has 22 starts from the ACC or Big 10?

I know you are trying to make your comment fit the post, but this is NOT a simple 2 deep break down where half the roster is stepping into to a starting role for the first time?

This post is highlighting the fact that LSU on both offense and defense is combining nearly 2 complete squads that were starting elsewhere and bring them here.

It’s ALMOST merging 2 teams into one (ignoring depth).
And doing so on both sides of the ball.

This post is not simply about returning production.

Let me also, apologize.
I thought the other negative response was yours as well. That’s on me.

I still think you are missing the point.

Is this post about returning production?

That’s literally not all you said.

You said much more prior to back tracking.

But this shows you missed the point.
Teams like Georgia and Ohio state probably do have some deep rosters.

But they don’t have the influx of experienced starters (they are backfilling with young guys albeit potentially 5 star young guys).

No team with the returning production that LSU has at key positions; brought in as many experienced transfers and high impact freshman like the #1 RB and #1CB like LSU did.

None.
If you disagree,
Which team so we can evaluate?
BBQ

Thank you! Someone that thinks about the content first. :).
______
I actually should have started with the defense (I figured the stats translated better, offensively)

LSU could legitimately field 2 starting rosters with the transfer portal additions.
(This is different than simply saying we added 25 Highschool kids with talent)
Proven dudes, that have actually done it in the SEC / BIG 10 / ACC !!

2 DTs
2 DEs
0 linebackers (only exception)
3 CBs
2 Safeties
Almost all of which were starters, will be starters (situational plug and play guys) in 2025 !!

What statement of mine are you referring to?

If you aren’t willing to do the work to find out how common or uncommon the talent acquisition was across the offense and defense actually was then HOW DO YOU KNOW my claim is false?

If you don’t know my claim is false, then your opinion is by definition uninformed. Or at best poorly informed.

LSU had the #1 portal class.
Some (possibly foolish people even) could conclude that the talent influx is better than most. ??
No jackass…

I want you to compare the transfer class production COUPLED with the returning production

Or quit offering a poorly informed opinion as if you know ??
Name one?
Name a team whose offensive AND defensive transfer class is better than LSU?

There are few teams
whose transfer class additions could form a returning core that would rival LSU’s and few teams that have the returning production that LSU has.

I simply started a post highlighting that these two legit cores are combining.

Why is this hard to grasp?
