re: St John USVI - mid April

We went in 2021 and we enjoyed 1864. Very good food and cocktails. Colombos had good coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Greengos was also a very good Mexican restaurant. Hope y'all enjoy! Wife and I just started talking about going back so now I have the itch!
I'm a PT and my best advice is just give it time. 6 weeks out from a TKA is nothing. I know it feels like an eternity to you but for how traumatic of a surgery you just had, it's no time. It's fairly common to still have swelling even 6 weeks out. Also, the lack of full extension is normal too. You want to get it as good as possible because that affects how you walk and stand. I hope you are going to PT religiously. I know I'm biased but it really is extremely important. Also, work on things at home. Prop your knee up and work on extension at home. Put a few pillows under your ankle with nothing under your knee and let it hang for 10 minutes at least twice a day. I would still ice it and elevate it as well if it's still swelling. My dad was about your age when he did his and he is overweight and he had great results. Just give it time and be very consistent with PT and working it at home.

Thou shall take the garbage to the road twice a week. If not, thou shall grow up be a worthless human being and will end up working on the garbage truck instead of just taking the can to the road.

We plan to do at least one day in Newport if we choose Boston. Wife wants to see the breakers and do some exploring around there.

Would be end of May/beginning of June. Good thoughts though. I think we are leaning towards Boston but if people overwhelmingly said Charleston then I will do some more research.

Boston or Charleston

Wife and I are considering one of these two cities for our 10th anniversary next year. Will probably do 4-5 nights. I have researched both and they both look very nice. Just looking for preferences from people who have been to either or both. We haven't been to either.
Care to give any reasoning behind that?
Just got back from a trip to Disney with aforementioned kids and wife. Honestly, we had a blast. It was extremely packed due to it being both Mardi Gras and President's Day but we managed to do most of what we wanted with minimal issues. We did purchase the Lightning Lane pass which is a must IMO. If you are spending that much money already it is not worth being miserable and waiting in lines to save a few hundred dollars. I highly recommend going when they are young, even 14 months old. Will she remember it, no, but I always will. She loved meeting character and the slower rides. Her face lit up and you could tell she was looking around in amazement. I know Disney gets a lot of hate on this site, some of it very well earned and deserved. However, there are not many places that can give a child that young things to laugh and smile at all day. There are things I roll my eyes at while I am there, but overall it's worth every penny when we go. I will always recommend it to anyone who is considering going.

re: NOLA Brunch?

Broussard's is really good. Usually where we go when in the city for a nice brunch. They definitely have bottomless mimosas. I have never been disappointed there.
Here's an idea. Audit EVERY state! I'm sure there is fraud in all 50 to some degree.

Best Air Fryer

Looking to buy a new Air Fryer. Don't mind spending up to $150 because we use it a lot. What do you guys have and how do you like it? Looking to go the non-toxic route if possible.

Restaurants in Bay St. Louis

Wife and I are going to BSL soon for a couple nights as our Christmas gift to each other. We have been a few times and know a lot of the normal/popular restaurants. I was hoping people had some under the radar/hidden gem type of places in BSL and surrounding area. Also, good dessert places would be appreciated. Don't mind driving 20-30 minutes if it's worth the drive. TIA

Really want to try this place. The one in Nola correct? If you get the Wellington let me know how it is.

New Year's Eve menus

Posted by GeauxTigahs92 on 12/30/25 at 1:01 pm
What is on everyone's menu for NYE? We are doing NY strip with some gnocci in alfredo sauce and broccoli. Will finish off with peanut butter chocolate chip cookie pie. Then will go on a heavy diet starting January 1!

Best sauce to compliment a steak

Posted by GeauxTigahs92 on 12/23/25 at 9:52 am
I personally do not like any sauces with my steak but my in laws are psychos and like their steaks well done so I am trying to find a sauce that will help the dryness that comes with a well done steak. I love my in laws dearly but I just cannot understand grown people who like to eat shoe leather when it could be the most tender and juicy meat out there. I plan to do ribeyes. I am thinking of doing a beurre blanc sauce but am open to other suggestions. TIA

The backyard is very good but kinda pricy for hamburgers and fries/tater tots IMO. They had a frozen old fashioned the last time I went that was absolutely phenomenal though and is worth going back for.

Literally says they prefer not to have kids on their website. Thanks a-hole :spank:

Dinner in Nola with kids

Wife and I are going to Nola for Christmas in the Oaks Friday and are looking for somewhere to eat around City Park/Lakeview area that is relatively kid friendly. We have a 5 and 1 year old so nothing too fancy. We were thinking maybe Felix's on the lake but I would appreciate any other recommendations! TIA

GW Fins is always my go to for a nice meal in the city. Cannot go wrong with anything on their menu.
