That’s because the college degree isn’t what it use to be and when you get a useless degree on top of that it can be hard to find employment. The area I’m in has plenty of jobs available. Now it might not be the job you want but there is work.

I think you are proving my point here. AI isn’t self sustaining. You don’t just push a button and now AI does it all. It has to be maintained and have maintenance performed. This just sounds like chicken little syndrome. With any new tech, jobs are lost but new have always been created. Just as with the analogies you have used. For example, are lawyers still going to litigate before a judge and jury or is AI going to do that? Will AI replace some clerks, or will AI assist clerks and lawyers and make their job easier? I guess we will find out before long.

There is still a lot to be figured out with AI. At this point it is nothing more than a circular investment between a few companies generating hype to drive up the value of their investment. I just don’t think it’s the nightmare scenario you are predicting.
