re: Anyone Fish Lake Okhissa In MS

Posted by mrcoon on 4/24/25 at 9:47 am
The MS people flood the LA side and do the same thing when certain small lakes get hot. It is just what people in that area of LA and MS do. Everyone picks on cajuns but the people in that area are worse, especially when it comes to fish.

I fished OK the year it opened. If we wouldn't have been in a 36" bottom duck boat we wouldn't have caught crap. We had to fish were the mob wasn't able to get to catch fish. It was fun. The bim busters were out in force the day we went. They were losing their minds. I am not surprised it sucks now considering the meat haul that went on. Every lake in that whole area is on a wipe out rotation. I have seen 150 boats on lakes less than 100 acres up there when the blue gills brag posts hit facebook.
The guy that did this claims to clean fish as a side gig. According to him adding an M12 battery and Mr. Twister blades did the trick on his Bubba Li-Ion.
The one that is broken is one of two that I have, and the first one I bought. It stays in its case, and I travel with it. I think the cord staying in a bind where it goes into the case is what finally did it in. I am very careful with the way I keep my electric knifes because I have been badly shocked buy a couple of regular green/yellow Mr. Twisters when they were at the end of their lives. I do everything I can to keep my knife hand dry and the knife itself clean and dry at all times. When I am done I wipe down the electric knife with a damp cloth and store it indoors. It think this greatly adds to longevity.

I have worn out others: an American Anger, a couple Black n Decker's, Ham Beach, and an old Rapala that you could hook to a 12V battery via alligator clamps.

So as for my old faithful, no, it hasn't cleaned 300 trout a week for 20 years, but it has cleaned several thousand fish over that time. When I first got it I was at my fishing peak. The most I can remember cleaning in one sitting was about 200 trout, 20 or so reds, and a pile of sheep head. I rarely fish the marsh these days and do more river and lake fishing. I also catch and release a lot more now. I only find myself cleaning fish a couple times a month these days.

I used an older model Bass Pro Shops cordless to clean 35 bass a few weekends ago because of the issues with my Piranha. It made it through them all on one battery, but it wasn't very powerful. That experience is what has me curious about the new crop of cordless. It seems like some of the tech from todays power tools should have made its way into fillet knives. Some of my Milwaukee cordless tools are way more power than my corded stuff.
My almost 20 year old Mr. Twister Piranha has an issue with the connection between the cord and the motor. If I can't fix it I may go with a cordless option. Just looking for opinions.

Is anyone still doing the Sawzall thing with the Filletzall Blade? If so how do you like it?

The Rapala R12 HD seems to have the best reviews, and I am leaning towards it.

The Bubba Li Ion seems to be weak due to its 7 volt system, and many people hate the blades, but it will accept Mr.Twister blades. I saw where one guy used a Milwaukee R12 battery adapter on his Bubba to get the RPM's up. All that said Bubba has a brushless motor version out now called the Pro Series which may solve the issues.

Work Pro makes one that operates on 12 volts and seems to have good reviews.

Lol, what an asinine thing to assume. From that comment and the rest of your statement I will assume that you are an emotional being and immature.

It was obvious he was unarmed.

Again, the 22 year old man didn't do a single thing to diffuse the situation then acted like a complete coward. He was the little lap dog yapping at the bigger dog and the bigger dog in this case attacked sending the fu fu dog into a meltdown. It was the definition of what not to do if you are scared for your life. You don't tough talk a person you see as a threat to your safety. That is just stupid. This whole thing is a lesson on what not to do all the way around.

This situation wasn't unique. Apparently we have all grown up in different worlds. Lastly, the 22 year old man wasn't in an expensive boat.

Go scream and cry while an unarmed man smaller than you chases you. You obviously will be coddled after it is over by the "men" on this board.

Okay, who here among us respected George McFly until he punched out Biff?

It's true and sickening.

To all the butt hurts out there I am not saying what happened was right and the aggressor shouldn't be punished.

Also, I have been in situations like and been on both sides of the arse whipping. Y'all need to stop watching Disney and turn on Blood Sport or Commando.

AND…the 22 year old “kid” melted like butter and that is not okay. All of you nannies on here that can’t admit both are true are contributing to this dang pussified nanny state.

I fully agree. Even at 16 he reacted like a complete wuss. The attack on masculinity in our society is to blame. The fact that a 22 year old acted like that after tuff talking back to the guy is pathetic. That's the popular GenX and older millennial view. I wouldn't be able to face my father if I ever acted like such a pussy. It's not like the psycho had a gun, knife, or sword. The "kid" needs to grow a pair.
Yup, they were very good too. A few of my buddies still fish with the ones that survived, some with the same Calcutta's they put on them originally.

100% true. Some have even been released already.

I don't know what you could tell a guy about his home lake that he doesn't already know. Scott isn't nearly my favorite, but instances were bogus from my perspective especially the Big O one. I may be wrong. I just know tournament people, and they are a brood of vipers. Scott doesn't need any of the leagues. It is likely that just said F this and went home. If that's the case I wouldn't blame him because every single pro could be called out as a cheater given the current rules.

Yup, and zero has been done to the deer farms that spread this shite. They had a positive deer in Blackhawk. Every freaking deer in that place should have been killed immediately and that entire place shouldn't be allow to have a single deer on it for at least 6 years. That's what should happen on every deer farm if this disease it that dangerous. CWD is Scrapie, and what I described is what they do with sheep.

Now, the deer farms are breeding resistant deer to sell to the state to combat the disease they put out. Sounds like the COVID strategy. Ban deer farming!

Haven't been on our depleted public very much have you. No plots or corn piles out there and we still manage to have single digit deer densities. Stupid people stay that "there's plenty deers" because they don't remember or know how good they used to be.
I greatly regret selling a Houston made Team All-star IM10 6'6" worm rod. I still have the spider jig version of the same rod. I have a few of the all green ASR series rods as well: worm, spoon, and jerk bait. I will be deeply upset when the spoon and jerk bait ASR's finally break. Those were pretty damn good rods for the price.

My dad never moved on from his All Star Classics. A few are original from the late 80's/early 90's before they became the classic. Those Houston made rods were shite at the time.
My two favorites right now are the Powell Endurance 724 and 733. I can't put them down. The 724 is a faster action and better for 1/2 oz plus. It is a great frogger and big buzz bait rod as well. It is a true heavy power stick. I use it for 3/8oz on up weights. The 733 is a medium heavy do it all type of rod. I use it for all of my lighter texas rigs and swimming worms. It casts a long way and the softer tip is great for skipping and roll casts. I am getting another one of each.

If you buy directly from Powell there is no tax and shipping is free: Powell Rod Co

724 on TW

You are not beating these two with anything else at their price point.
I have seen plenty pigs hit by cars. They out number deer 30 to 1 on some of our WMA'S. You never see any deer hit on the highway in those areas. Good job LDWF. I love seeing 100's of pigs a year and only a handful of deer. More liberal deer hunting regulations please. We need to kill off the few deer we have left.

High n Dry are the only waders worth buying. They actually last. They is no b.s. to them, just a simple design. I can't say enough good about them.
