Axe

Posted by Chief Illiniwek on 12/26/22 at 1:54 pm
My IT guy celebrated his first Christmas here in the states. Vipal, was gifted an Axe Gift Box from his wife, Zara. He was excited at first because he felt it was a great "AMERICAN" gift. However, the team informed him how Axe is only used by younger people and they teased him. I exited my office to see what the tomfoolery was all about to find Vipal and the rest of the team already coming towards my office. The team put me on the spot asking if Axe is something I would use at my age--let's just say I'm not a Spring CHICKEN, any longer.

The question is, do men in the south over the age of 20, use Axe? And is Axe really an aphrodisiac? Vipul was told it attracts the ladies like Truly does with Sorority girls.

I know it sounds strange and completely random but, he is asking me if this is common in the US. I thought I would ask the fine people of the O-T Lounge to get their thoughts.

Christmas Gift?

Like many of you, I've heard of people getting boob implants for their girl as a form of Christmas gifts. Have any of you heard of circumcisions as Christmans gifts? One of my IT guys said he received a confirmation email from a urologist intended to be sent to his wife. His wife said she got this appointment for him for Christmas. Is this an acceptable gift? Is being hooded no longer trendy?

Well played, Salmon.

I would take it under your advisement then, you would not elect me to be an admin?

ESports games—90’s edition

Posted by Chief Illiniwek on 8/1/19 at 10:56 pm
If you were able to participate in an ESport back in the nineties and could win $3mil or more, what game would you dominate in to win it all?

I would kill in Blades of Steel and RC Pro-am!!!
Ok then...now that we continue to name off movies we all enjoyed, i was curious if anyone could state whether or not this would be a good idea.

A friend of mine just got a job at Vivid and i want to pounce on this ASAP if it’s legit idea.
May i interject...

Having watched this dramatic rescue a number of times, i would have to say this is as bad the balloon boy story back in 2009.

Thoughts on Reboots of Movies

Posted by Chief Illiniwek on 7/29/19 at 1:53 pm
would you view “rebooted” porn? Reboots are made to introduce the movie to new audiences—Lion King, Red Dawn, A-Team... I would think porn would be able to succeed in doing this also.

Throbbin Hood—Prince of Passion
Forrest Hump
When Harry meets Shaved

I’d think new fans can be brought in to rejuvenate these classics.
Thoughts?

Netflix or firestick

Looking for some opinions on which is a better buy?

I would also have to agree that Jujitsu, Judo, Wrestling, or even Aikido, are arts that children should learn prior to stand up arts like Tae Kwon Do and Karate.

Using your opponents momentum and leverage is huge in a fight.
Any Martial Arts, if taught properly and learned properly is about self discipline.

Margarito is definitely a fighter to watch. Seeing his last 3 fights now, he sure does love to play possum for at least 5-6 rounds and then turns it on.

The guy's chin is solid as can be. I wouldn't be too surprised if De La Hoya turns him down saying something along the lines that he wouldn't want his last fight to be against a fellow Mexican.

I don't believe the older superhero movies count in this discussion considering they are all in reboots. I'm more talking about DC and Marvel right now, not 25 years ago. I think DC's "superhero" canon is worse than Marvel's, Batman excepted, but DC published far more interesting non-canonical stuff like Sandman and Watchmen, which is outside the official DC universe. The Watchmen is one of the best comic books ever written (I think it's only real competition is Cerebus and Sandman).

My point is--like you touched on--in the last 25 years, the Batman series (including Burton's--notd Schumacher's) have distinguished the superb writing and directing of a comic book character onto the screen.

Seriously? Can you imagine how great Daredevil could have been if the script were better or if the cast was better?

Wolverine has all the potential in the world to be great. I haven't seen Iron Man so I can't say. But to say that Spiderman or X-Men were great movies...entertaining OK...but not great.

Batman Begins and TDK are far superior. Superman Returns was much better than Hulk, Elektra, Daredevil, and Fantastic Four.

i don't think it's necessarily due to which puts out characters better for movies, i think dc has had better directors for its movies.

I'll respectfully disagree with you on that. I truly believe it has more to do with the writers of the screen adapations then the actual directors.

Marvel has had some pretty good directors for their movies. Ang Lee is a tremendous director. Brian Singer, not bad either...but the story lines that they had to deal with were horrible. And they had to make due with what was given to them.

Take for example the Spiderman Series, great entertaining movie for with all the CGI and bright colors, but the storylines aren't all that interesting.

For an adult that grew up reading comic books, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are far superior to the Spiderman franchise, The X-Men franchise, and now even the two failed Incredible Hulk movies. All had great potential in being great movies.

When you hear people discuss The Dark Knight, you hear them talk about the characters, the storyline, and then the effects...not the other way around.

DC versus Marvel

After seeing The Dark Knight last night, it goes to show DC Comics characters are far better transcribed onto the big screen.

The only way that Marvel could ever top the brilliance in creating a movie version of a comic hero is to stay true to the characters that they write about.

I.E. if they want to be successeful and reap the rewards that just two Batman movies have done in recent years, they should better hope that the Wolverine Movie be as dark and creative as the Batman Movies--not the Tim Burton ones either--which in their era were pretty good too.

Wolverine and Daredevil had the potential to be really good Comic book movies. Daredevil, as dark as the comic was, was one of the most absolutely horrible movies of our time. And I have a feeling that Wolverine will be too. And what a great character Wolverine is.
Oh and not to mention that Steven Spielberg who found him as an actor, there's no doubt that there's probably something in the works for him to work with Spielberg again.

Especially after how well Dark Knight will do.
I would have to say that Christian Bale is probably one of the most underrated actors in the business.

Some of you may not like the so called "indie" films he was in or have not even seen them, but to say that he is not a good actor, well...let's just say you're in the minority.

He obviously could make a run at being the biggest movie star AFTER Dark Knight, but his acting is well above par.

American Psycho was good, but check out The Machinist and his role in that. Check out Rescue Dawn. Check out Harsh Times. He is a brilliant actor.

With upcoming movies of The Terminator and Public Enemies with Johnny Depp, directed by Michael Mann, and produced by Robert DeNiro? Oh and Killing Pablo, a movie based on the capture of Pablo Escobar? He will give Will Smith a run for his money as biggest Movie star sooner than you think.
