I would highly recommend Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya as well. Food and drinks were very good. We did a swim up room as well. 6 days/nights was around $5200 flights included.
Large spread-out property, shows every night after dinner, and live music in the courtyard by the restaurants and lobby area each night after the show. We did an excursion to Xplor park at Xcaret one day while there
We chose Valentin based on friends recommendation, they had been multiple times

Just got back yesterday from Valentin Imperial Riviera May for 6 days. Hotel provided transportation to and from the Cancun airport and we did an excursion to Xcaret Xplor park while there.
Yes there are cab drivers and locals trying to scam you when you arrive but if you have your transportation lined up and follow their instructions you have nothing to worry about. We had an absolutely amazing trip. Would go back in a heartbeat

Played the first 2 rounds and missed the cut. Some seriously good golf going on out there. Greens rolling great.
I played with Alan Morgan (LSU golfer) the first 2 rounds in the 2001 LA Amateur at Bayou Desiard. I believe he was -12 after the 2nd round. Went on to finish at -21 and won by 13

There's a reason Reed's nickname among other tour players is "table for one".

This! I feel bad because I like Hanagriff but as soon as Ott starts talking I have to change the station

The Honors Course - Ooltewah, TN
Wilmington CC North & South Courses, Wilmington, DE
Wampanoag CC, West Hartford, CT (on 9/11/2001)
Honors Course is phenomenal. Built by Jack Lupton, who is a philanthropist in the Chattanooga area. His family owned the original exclusive bottling rights for Coca Cola. Club has 100 members and for dues they each pay 1/100th of the operating cost of the club every quarter regardless of how much they play

No opinion on Clay but this was the case long before he became Mayor. Rich tax base and the actual city is pretty small, hard to frick up that job unless you get drunk and speed onto the causeway

Our regular 4some has a standing rule that if any of us make a hole in one the other 3 pay him $1 for every yard of the shot. The person who made the hole in one then has to pay for a steak dinner. Has to be with the 4 of us playing together
My nephew is one of the 4 and he was playing with some other friends last weekend and made his first one from 175 yds

Agree on Burnt Pine but we are not staying on property.
Raven and Regatta are around $160, Kelly wants like $220
May be able to get a deal closer to $100 at Emerald. Probably 2/3 of the group are less that 4 times a year golfers, so will probably try to stay around $125 wherever we can get a group rate
Thanks

Have a group of 15 going over next month and have played all the courses there a few times. Many of the recent reviews are trashing the condition of the Links and Baytown courses. Anyone played there recently?
Raven is the nicer course that's public and it has mixed reviews recently as well
Looking at Emerald Bay and Regatta as alternatives

1. Burnt Pine (if you can get on, it’s private)
2. Regatta Bay
3. Raven at Sandestin
4. Kelly plantation
5. Indian Bayou
Would be my personal top 5
Agree with this although I would put Windswept ahead of Indian Bayou. Grented its a little bit of a drive from Destin. Burnt Pine and Raven are fantastic and I love Regatta and Kelly (even though you may pay $160 to play there. Location, location, locations

I still hit my 4I pretty well but the 4H has a much higher/softer trajectory into greens.
Callaway D and 3W
PING 3H & 4H
The Pings are adjustable for loft and lie

+1 hdcp here. My 5 iron goes 195. replaced 4I with a 4H that carries 210 mainly for trajectory.
3H - 225
3W - 245
For reference.
5W and 7W are good options, really just a matter of what works for you. Try a few and get fitted

Agree on LA National. I actually like Contraband. You can play Nugget for $80 and Contraband is around $65 for the twilight rate.

Course was great as always. Made the cut so $250 for 4 rounds and a $100 golf shirt is the best golf deal in Louisiana all year.
Course was very playable, but you had to hit fairways (I'd say hitting the rough off the tee was about a .75 shot penalty). Very tough to control the ball from rough, lot of knuckle balls.
Playing the native areas as lateral was a good call. Guy with me first 2 days hit it in there 5-6 times.
Greens are perfect but so difficult to get a putt you can be aggressive with. Lot of nerve wracking 3-5 footers for par.
Guessing the course played around 6700-6800 yards. No 16 was no more than a wedge any day and still played tough.
As for some of the high scores there were certainly some people who shouldn't have been there, but if you are a 5-8 hdcp and not playing your best you could easily shoot 85-90. And a lot of guys never play on greens like these
