Nice watches and nice shotguns. Don’t “need” them but they are sure nice to have. Men with money like nice things too. When you can’t afford these things, you convince yourself how they are frivolous and you wouldn’t want one if you could afford it.

Went to the Iron bowl this year. My wife is an Auburn grad. It was an incredible experience, so much fun to go to a big game and not really care who wins.

Everyone isn’t struggling. Always going to be a lower middle class that has a trade that doesn’t pay much and thinks everyone else is living off of credit. If you feel that way then you probably are in that group.

Father in law was an Army Ranger Lt Col badass. Rocket hit their boat in Vietnam, killed all but him. Laid in the mud 3 days before they picked him up and he woke up in a hospital in Japan. Swears an angel in the shape of a black dude gave him a blood transfusion amd told him he would be alright in the time before he was found.

Not regulated by the SEC, instead regulated by state insurance offices. Insurance lobby wants it that way, not transparent on fees, complicated contract by design, salesmen with a Series 6 sell them instead of fiduciary money managers, limited liquidity and control. I have been in insurance and investment business for 25 years and the insurance company and guy selling annuities make off way better than the scared of markets people that buy them.

I rent a house on the beach. Go for a swim whenever I want, crush a lobster roll from a food truck down the street, nap while watching LSU baseball while the women shop in Seaside, and get up and cook while listening to Sublime or a good ole Grateful Dead show. Good living at the beach but I would never do it if I had to stay in a high rise condo. F that.

(saw him play at the Thomas Assembly Center(La Tech bball gymnasium) in ‘95. One of the fraternities brought him in. Supposedly it only cost around $1000, a hotel room, and a bottle of whiskey to get him to play. He did a whole show for what I remember.)
