youtube is full of videos of college football teams not being out for the anthem.
Correct - Not only do the Tigers not come out for the anthem football pregame, neither does the opposing team. Band plays anthem & alma mater, lines up outside our tunnel for the team to run out. Som...

Maybe because the freighters and tankers were slower than the warships and couldn't keep up, which would put them all at slower speed if they sailed together. Greater risk if it would slow down the warships fleeing west....
I'm about 65% thru the audio book... Not loving it
Can't say it's my favorite McCarthy either, compared to the Border Trilogy & Suttree & The Road....

Listened to Blood Meridian on Audible recently. At different times the Judge reminded me of: - An intellectual sermonizing King Kong Bundy - A bald and thoughtful Dusty Rhodes - Vincent D'Onofrio playing Wilson Fisk - Best candidate for a movie? Oh the mental adventures that come up when...
Just watched Mizzou/Ohio St. bowl game
Barely stayed awake watching it in real time....
Good news. He got pushed aside on a long Wisconsin TD in the bowl. He can squat 700-800 lbs, so he has the size & strength. Some focused coaching by Davis will have to help with technique and lift his play....

Self-gifted the boxed set for Christmas. Will sit on my shelf for a while since I haven't finished Atkinson's trilogy (along with the rest of my TBR). But the box looks great!...
As good as that run was, the 51 yarder in that same game was better, IMO. That was classic JD, where he seems to move through groups of would be tacklers and they can't put a finger on him. I swear it seems like he has a force field around him at times...
That was the Heisman moment ...
Don't you think #55 Braden Fiske would have made a bigger difference, if you're talking one transfer? Or the CB they got from UVA? WR was the biggest strength of this team besides of course QB....

That’s often been the case for night games over the last 15-20 years depending on the TV. ...
Was there to the zeroes, and it’s sad to see fans leaving in 3Q of a game we could have blown. Still sounded pretty loud in 4Q. Hey, if people want to miss out on JD setting an all time record then whatever. I’m not sure how to keep fans in the seats without getting creative. I don’t think going...

re: East of Eden by John Steinbeck

If you're looking for a shorter Steinbeck book, The Winter of our Discontent is a classic with also a good dose of heavy in it. The final section still sticks with me. From what I've read, it cemented his career reputation later in life, just before his Nobel Prize....
Love Thomas Sowell's writing. Unfortunately not enough people are listening....
