Don’t forget juniors like Dare either.
Dare Rosenthal? He is a redshirt freshman.

I don’t think this is as big a need as some people are making it out to be.
It's not. We have several freshmen and soph olinemen.
Freshmen Olinemen:
Anthony Bradford
Kardell Thomas
Dare Rosenthal Rfr
Thomas Perry
Charles Turner
Cameron Wire Rfr
Soph olinemen:
Chasen Hines
Ed Ingram Rsoph
Several juniors should be returning for next season. Oline will be better next season than they are this season. Oline isn't a need this class, but they will need to sign a large class next season. I think this class they are focusing on quality, not quantity. No projects this class, only college ready olinemen. Next class they can afford to take a couple projects. But the way these kids are wanting to go to LSU, I don't think they will need to sign any projects.

The way our defense is playing, he may get 1000 yards passing against UGA in the SECCG. Assuming we get there. That game is going to be a shootout. Just hope our defense can slow UGA enough we get a halftime lead.

Walker High School, 1980/1981 Varsity. Head Coach Ted Davidson.
Was a NG and OT.
My cousin coached the Walker Renegades A team back in the 80's and I coached a little with him. He got his degree and was an assistant football coach and HC of girls softball team at Walker in the late 90's to mid 2000's.
Went to SLU for a couple years and majored in Kinesiology.

remember well the days of Cholly Mac, Bert Jones, Tyler Lefauci, Warren Capone, Tommy Casonova, and others of the late 60s, early 70s?
My Cub Scout Pack use to go to LSU games and we would escort people to their seat's. I think that was the 1971/1972 season. I was 7 or 8 but did not really follow LSU football back then. SO I don't recall which games we went to. I do recall one game there was barley anybody there. Another game was packed and it got very poud that game. So I don't really recall those 60's and early 70's teams.
But by the 1978 season I was starting to follow LSU a little. By then it had been may years since LSU beat bama. Talk was that the game had passed ole Cholly Mac up and he needed to go. 1979 season LSU barley lost to USC and bama and both were NC teams that season. USC was loaded with talent. Those were moral victories. Something fans accepted at that time.
When Bo Rein was hired we were very excited. He was a very good coach, young and smart. I truly believe had he not died LSU would have competed for NC's during the 80's.

Anthony Hundley 2021
At the level LSU is recruiting right now, and the high profile players that want to play here, I think LSU needs to be somewhat cautious when offering committable scholarships. Especially since some guys are just completing their soph. season. I don't like it when a player commits and then 2 years later there's players at the same position that LSU has rated higher and they want in. Then you are facing the issue like they have this year and have commitments they may have to turn away. Processing players I suppose is what it's called.
Not a fan of 'processing' recruits. I know it is necessary sometimes. I'm not saying Hundley won't be rated the best at his position when he is a sr., just making a point.

Coach O wasn’t critical of the defense?
No, I am not. A head coach wears different hats. When talking to the media he wears one hat, when addressing his players he wears another. You don't throw anybody under the bus in public. That's a good way to create dissention and animosity with players. If you make negative comments in public about a particular group you are separating them from the team aspect. You can say something like, "we could have done better on stopping the run." Or something of that affect, but you must be careful when pointing to a particular person or group. Behind closed doors there's a different way to address issues.

Could also possibly be a top 2.
I find this a little ridiculous. When players say, "big day tomorrow," regarding their recruitment, make a really big deal out of it and then they come out with a top 10. :rotflmao: Maybe some of them are truly sincere with this, but most I think are just playing games with fans. Hook-line and sinker. (is that even possible? I've never really thought about that, hook-line and sinker. I mean, is it even possible a fish swallows the sinker? I mean, the line I can see, it's attached to the hook. Well, I suppose it depends on where you put the sinker.)
But man, I really hope LSU gets this one. This dude is going to be a very important piece of the defense next season if he goes to LSU. We will have a DE that is capable of getting to the QB, even if he puts on some weight.
re: Let’s have a real, non-hyperbolic, talk about the defense

non-hyperbolic,
On this board, not going to happen. Not enough people on here know or understand the game to make educated, rational, well represented, non-hyperbolic statements. How many on here actually strapped on the pads on the HS varsity level? How many learned terms and techniques, scheme's, drills? From what I've seen on here, not many. So you will only get non-hyperbolic comments from a very small percentage. Let me add, you can still know and understand the game even if you never played. If you studied the game and learned. Just saying, most on here have not learned the game and didn't play the game. And some of those make the dumbest, most uneducated and insulting comments, simply because they have no idea wtf they are talking about.
That being said. This defense is young at certain positions, young and no depth, like CB. One veteran and the rest true freshmen. As good as Stingley is, he is still a true freshman and it shows at times. At other positions there's a lot of talent, like Dline, but not much quality depth. And that's a position you really need a solid 2 deep. LSU just doesn't have it. That hurts in the 2nd half when starters are getting weary and you bring in backups that are not nearly as good. same thing with the LBing group. You have some good starters, but after that there isn't a lot of depth. Especially now that Divinity is gone. You are forced to bring in a true freshman to start. There's a lot of talented LBer's, but you have one really good one and 2 or 3 good, but no great and not much depth. Safety is basically the same thing.
LSU just doesn't have the depth on defense to maintain a high level of play for 4 quarters.

People in this thread. Yea, let's put three 350 pounders with their hand in the ground and throw a 280 pounder at rush OLB.
All three dlinemen in a 3/4 defense play a 2 gap technique. You fricking clowns think the DE's are going to cover outside the 6 and 5 holes, they DON'T cover the outside. And they are not counted on to rush the fricking QB, thats why Aranda has OLB's who rush and contain the outside. Learn the fricking game!

Just saying, he will definitely be one of the best dlinemen on the roster next season along with Shelvin. Maybe move Shelvin over. It'd be best to have the best on the line.

I think Guillory has a little nasty to him. But that dude can really play. Plus, Ika will be even better next season. May need to move him to DE. I think Logan is a jr. Losing Lawrence and Feheko. Can't wait to see this team in 2021. I think next season is another really good one, but I see the 2021 defense as being a very dominate one.

True, but what I think he means is coming straight out of HS and projected to develop into a top 5. Tyson was a 2 star at the beginning of his SR season, I think he finished as a 3 star. He was a little on the light side.

And other lists had named Iowa #1. Almost every sports mag had their own list.
True but I think what he is saying is the AP was who the media and public recognized as NC. And they had their last vote before the Bowl games. You can go look at other seasons and see that LSU was recognized by other services/mag's as NC. Until the BCS the NCAA did not have an official NC. There was one other poll that was widely accepted as determining the NC, that was the UPI (United Press International, basically college football coaches) It wasn't until the early 1970's they waited until after the bowls to crown their champ. It wasn't until 1968 that the AP waited until after bowl games to crown their champ. So basically before then the bowl games didn't factor into the accepted services to crown the NC.
