re: O Screwed Up Vs. Did His Job Offering Tua Thread
Posted by topgun1676 on 12/8/16 at 10:04 pm
IMO, the worst part of this whole fiasco is that the only reason Coach O offered Tua was because of Lane Kiffin potentially becoming our OC.
However, this backfired since we have no Tua, definitely no Kiffing, and now possibly No Brennan who has been 100% committed to LSU from the get go.

Good talent was leaving the state. They were going to schools like FSU and Miami. That's why we sucked in the 90s.
This. Although, we had some really great players. Overall, the 90's had way less talent than we have today. We were recruiting All-State Players from Louisiana and the surrounding areas vs. All-American type talent of today.
Once Nick Saban became our HC, he locked down the borders of Louisiana thus making us relevant as a potential powerhouse team. Heck, I tend to believe Les Miles was an above average coach who basically benefitted from having Top-Tier talent that translated to him winning 9 or 10 games a year.

Although, I personally would have preferred FSU; I'm content with the bowl selection especially since I feel Penn St. really got hosed.
I'm mean, what use is a Conference Championship game if it has barely any impact on the CFP?
Your thoughts?

You realize if we scored as many points as we did last year we win that last game right? Scoreless for almost a whole game.
To be fair, LSU held Bama scoreless for almost a whole game too! The game came down a few plays that went Bama's way. The 15-yard hit out of bounds which set up the TD for Bama.
This was a game of, whichever teams scores first wins.

There was also 3 awful turnovers in the Wisky game, one in which we are in field goal range to win the game
So it wasn't Les' fault either. Or that only works for O?
Big difference between the two. Les Miles was supposed to be fired the year before and was bailed out by the President and the Governor of Louisiana.
He then had a full off-season to prepare for his first opponent unlike Coach O. This was solely on Miles and his refusal to change or adapt and/or fire Cam Cameron.

I want FSU...
Classic matchup between Coach O vs. Jimbo Fisher
And...RB Dalvin Cook vs. LSU defense and LF (if healthy) or Guice vs. FSU's defense.
Definitely a more intriguing matchup than the likes of Louisville that lost to UK in their final regular season game!

Sports Science: Leonard Fournette
"Cuts twice as fast as a blink of an eye in 0.2 seconds and pushes off the ground 4G's of acceleration and his Top-end speed accelerates over 20.5 MPH."

Which is why I said it's not like either 1 would burn the other in any race. It'd be very close. They are both extremely fast.
Yeah, my BAD! I read your post wrong at times. I sometimes have a difficult time believing LF is actually that fast at 6'1 and 230 pounds or so.
It's one of the reasons I say that people and fan bases are discounting his potential in the NFL based off of how he played Alabama 3 years straight or his injury.
They truly do not understand LF has a rare combination of Size, Speed, Power, Vision, and footwork. I can't imagine what he would do if he was running behind the Cowboy's offensive line right now...insane!

Leonard Fournette 3.9 40-yard Dash
This was last year. Do I believe he actually ran a 3.9 laser? No, although not accurate by any means, with hand-timed anything is possible.

I think Guice might have a better 40time than LF, mainly due to having a better start and 10yard split. But LF would be faster in like a 60m or 100m dash. And it's not like Guice would smoke LF in the 40 or LF burn Guice in the 100. They both are extremely fast.
It's closer than you think. LF was once considering the fastest on the team besides Chark and Donte Jackson. He ran a 4.35 earlier in the year. Trust me, LF ran track in school and has a fast acceleration as well.

That's exactly what they said last year. And the year before. And the year before.
Think about that!
In the mean time, I will not believe LSU changes offensively until I see it on the field beginning with Game 1 of the 2017 season.
You do realize that Les Miles was here for 12 years right? Coach O is not Les Miles so stop holding him accountable for what Les Miles did last year, the year before, etc.
In fact, you should thank Coach O for firing Cam Cameron. Something that Les Miles didn't have the CHEST to do. I know that was low right? lol! Well, it's the truth.
Tell ya what, let's see how the Bowl game plays out first before talking about next season!

I'm not OLD, I'm Seasoned and I can still run with the best of them. I just think you all need to give Coach O a chance. I think you should look forward to what Coach O has in store for the Bowl game.
He has a lot of time to prepare for his opponent. Now, if we come out flat, I'll understand your point, but I hope we also get an opponent like FSU that will motivate our players instead of someone like Louisville who just lost to UK.

Our defense played spectacularly. There's no denying that. But nobody is worried about our defense going forward. We hired a defensive position coach to run our program. Think about that
Agreed! But now LSU is in the process in hiring a new OC, on it's way to a Top #5 recruiting class, and an off-season to prepare. Think about that as well!

Yeah, we definitely need to judge Coach O for his mess up from OLE MISS like 11 years ago.
LEAGUECHAMPS, god forbid you haven't made changes in the last 11 years and someone should punish you. Then again, I have no idea how old you were back then, you could be chewing on crayons or pulling little girl's hair for all I know.
Stop bashing Coach O. He's our Coach. Deal with it or cheer for another team. Better yet, move to Canada!

FINALLY, a Positive Post that I can get behind for once. I was thinking I was going to have to call out from work, cancel my taskers, and order some hot cocoa to calm my nerves.
After all, I can't handle the Nega Tigers who have nothing positive to say...Cheers!

Good god almighty. This coaching search has shown me our fanbanse is far more delusional than Bama's on their most delusional of days
And you are probably a delusional poster that believes in Unicorns that thinks we can wave a wand and say "Abracadabra" and all our offensive problems will be fixed regardless of the Coach we bring in.
You are probably young and also don't understand what it takes to change an offensive philosophy. Do I understand? No, but I do understand business concepts and implementing business strategies so I have an idea what it takes and it is a very lengthy process that does not happen overnight or in 5 weeks.

I could care less why Alabama didn't score more than 10 points on LSU.
The SUBJECT is LSU's Offense. In that game, LSU's offense was dismal.
Defending a dismal offense is not the way LSU will improve on the offensive side of the football.
Look I have nothing against you personally, we both root for the same team and possibly from the same State of Louisiana.
I'm just asking you to look at the challenges Coach O had in preparing for Alabama on such short notice. I didn't like the fact we didn't score points and we were shut out too!
However, I look at the other side of the coin and understand that it could have very well been a scoreless game heading into OT. Now, if Bama would have blown us out 41-0, then I would have though differently. The truth of the matter is, the game was a lot closer than what the score indicated.
Also, I think we owe it to ourselves to give Coach O a chance since he is responsible for igniting this LSU team. It won't be an overnight change, but I think he deserves an offseason or two to see how his leadership translates on the field. :geauxtigers:

Yeah but we wouldn't give up 56 points to anyone. That's embarrassing.
COME ON, they are Alabama! They beat everyone else by 41 points or more. They must suck right? Again, it's a different game and a game that Coach O needed more time for.
It wasn't fair for Coach O to take over an LSU program without given the full reigns and expect to transform the entire offense. He did add some wrinkles which led to LSU's highest scoring output in about 5 years or so.
I'd say he earned the job considering the challenges he had!

Imagination and execution you know not.
You are either young or very naive. I forgive you OP especially since you know nothing about what it takes to actually transform a Football Offensive Program or how to implement a new strategic vision in the world of business.
Give Coach O a break and just enjoy the bowl game!
