Todd Kinchen was an absolute beast in those tourneys. Elite athlete.

re: Pitch clock rules

I don't mind the pitch clock so much. Keeps the game moving along. There was a time during the dead bat era when every batter for both teams pulled a Nomar Garciaparra. Had to step out of the box after every single pitch, even if they didn't swing, and readjust their cleats, socks, hat, gloves, spit, blink, dig back in again. Felt like a full minute between pitches between the pitches. 4-Hour games with a 1-0 score. I almost gave up the game of college baseball. With the pitch clock and tighter baseballs flying, the game is back. If I wanted a 4-Hour scoreless game I would watch soccer.

Edit: GetmorewithLes.. we were literally typing the exact same points at the exact same time. You just said it a lot better than I did.

re: Any word on Harold Perkins?

I don't think people on here appreciate how good Perkins is and how good the defense can be if he comes back

That's because he has been completely neutralized by our own staff for the last two years. He was the best defensive player on the field his freshman year.

I think we all just don't know. He could literally become a household name with one more year or also be a name we never hear called. Put him in some sort of position where he can see ball/hit ball, and let him eat. Regardless of how his family feels that will impact his NFL career.
I agree. It really does tear away from the concept of developing players or having depth. Now I will say the product on the field was more fun than it's been in any recent year. We've had over a decade of knowing that alabama, Ohio state, and Georgia were going to be one, two, three and every other school in the country was playing for the fourth playoff spot. It's an exaggeration but you get the point. Watching so many upsets this year was actually pretty fun.

But to your point of building a team or developing players, it will be very difficult. Until it changes, it really is a mercenary League where you have to identify and sign the best players from high school and college every year. I can't imagine being a head coach and literally having to recruit my entire roster every single year back to the program while also recruiting High School kids. Always thought it would be a dream job, but I really don't think I would want to be a college coach in the current environment.
Yet you clicked on it, read the responses, and took the time to respond. I mean I get what you're saying, it's literally a couple per day, but if it bothers you just pass once you've read the thread title, which is right there in bold letters.

What am I missing?
My man, you're fired up and saying "ridiculous" about something that has not even happened yet. You're literally ranting about your own prediction before the poll even comes out. I respect the heck out of the passion, but bro . !

Too early to be worried about the poles. I'm guessing you're expecting a year-long bias against from the AP. Conference hasn't even started and we've only played one ranked team. If we win we'll move up. If we lose multiple we'll move down.

End up at or near the top of a bracket in the ncaas, and then let your play on the court define the number that ends up next to your name. It's all good. Breathe, enjoy the journey. There's a long season to go.

Weeks has been exposed last 2 weeks

What are you talking about? He can't be Superman every game. He had eight tackles last night. Other than swinson, I don't think anyone else in the entire front seven had more than one tackle. Weeks is fine. He can't be a one-man Wrecking Crew every single week. He could use a little help.
So the photo clearly shows he is launching since he's on his tiptoes. Using his helmet to make contact with JD's helmet. And maintains that helmet to helmet contact all the way into the ground. Nope that's not targeting.

re: Nuss not bailing and running

It's a read option, not an rpo. But the point still stands. Seems crazy for it to be your primary running play When the quarterback never pulls it. I'm sure the people who make all the money have some reason for that, but for the average fan like me, I can't make it make sense.

Can we run some pistol or some other sets to be more creative? Maybe two backs or a TE in the backfield? I don't know , but something other than dive and hurry up dive

This. We have now run that hurry up dive on every 3rd and short for almost a decade. Every person on both sides of the ball and all 100,000 in attendance know exactly what's going to happen next. A tackle behind the line of scrimmage.

In a time where each team has dozens of analysts and analytic trackers, how has somebody not informed the staff that the success rate is about 1.3% on this play. Try something else. Try anything else. For the love of all that is good don't make LSU fans watch this one more time. Rant over.

The scores yesterday were pretty eye-opening. There were a lot of very high numbers to literally zero. I know these games have not been historically competitive ,but yesterday was pretty eye-opening. You may be right. If so I'm glad to be on the side that's receiving the talent and not losing it. Would be rough to be a fan of a small school that is now just a feeder program.
In a clash of titans on a grand September night,
The Tigers and Trojans take their flight.
Ranked and ready, both teams are set to soar,
In a season opener that fans adore.

LSU, the Tigers, with hopes running high,
Haven’t won an opener since the year of ’19’s sky.
But tonight's the night, they’re primed to claim their right,
Harold Perkins, on defense, ready to ignite.

USC’s Trojans, with their storied past,
Claiming a championship, though it couldn’t last.
A 2003 title, in the annals of lore,
But LSU holds the TROPHY ??forevermore.

The offenses roar with power and might,
Nuss is ready to light
The scoreboard ablaze with four touchdowns grand,
Their precision and flair will be in high demand.

The defense, though shaky, will stand tall,
With Perkins’ great play answering the call.
In a game of high stakes and thrilling display,
The Tigers will triumph, leading the way.

So here’s to the night of fierce rivalry,
Where passion and pride blend in harmony.
In the end, LSU will seize the night’s fame,
With glory and triumph, and victory’s claim.
