Not close to over
Love the kid but damn man he’s outmatched out there. Guard instead of tackle may be his long term spot his lack of arm length is simply exploited at tackle

talked with one of his coaches and he is 100% locked in and all LSU.

More times then not elite LA kids bleed purple and gold even in this NIL era that won’t change. USC still trying to convince themselves he’ll flip to them lol

Can you elaborate on who is doing well at the senior bowl for those people who don’t follow it that closely?

Barrion brown Aaron Anderson and Chris Hilton all have been balling and making plays
Makes it an even bigger indictment on BK for entrusting JOE SLOAN to maximize all the talented pass catches we had. After Bryce underwood flipped Joe Sloan should’ve been demoted back to qb coach or fired.

Baffling staff hires , lazy recruiting, not having a run game and not having the team prepared for big time matchups will be the things that defined the Brian Kelly era .

BK rarely made visits to schools in Louisiana. It was almost always Frank Wilson or another assistant. Kelly did as little as possible in every aspect of the job.

It’s amazing we still racked up consistent top 10 classes with how utterly lazy BK was
I know we got tj dottery and keys is returning to go with whit weeks. However, the 25 class we loaded up hard on lbs. I think guys like Ross, Braiker, Zach weeks and keylan Moses all have a lot of potential. It’s great that all of these guys will actually be part of the full offseason program as I believe only Ross was an early enrollee last year. I think someone from this group emerges and at least beats out keys for reps.

Who are you guys betting on to break out ? My money is on Charles Ross you can’t teach sideline to sideline speed and this kid can absolutely fly.

Why didn’t you start this thread before now then? You weren’t confident enough in yourself to make that evaluation until you saw a website give him a fifth star?

I literally made a post on January 6th about how the addition of Corey barber and Jabari Mack makes up for the loss of taron francis so you’re wrong. Fans like you are just forever miserable lol

Lol. We have so many star gazers on this board. All of a sudden we have a bunch of threads about this kid and how great he will be because one of the recruiting websites gave him a 5-star rating. No one was talking about him before that. (Even though 99% of the posters on here have probably never seen him play)

Speak for yourself as soon as there was buzz that we would flip him after we got Lane I watched his film and was immediately impressed with his ball skills, speed, quickness. I’ve said several times on this board before his updated ranking came out that he will be a dog for us. I don’t think that take is fair at all when he flipped to us many folks on this board including myself were impressed by his film. Many folks even noted the diff type of wr archetype he was compared to guys that Cortez hankton recruited as hankton many went after big ,physical , athletic types of wr like Shelton Sampson, taron Francis and Kylan billiot. Barber fits the lane mold of a wr in terms of downfield speed, separation ability , and sure handed
He’s the program’s highest rated wr since Brian Thomas I believe(still criminal now low nabers was out of HS despite being a 4 star) and the first 5 star wr we’ve had since kayshon boutte. Kiffin and McDonald in 2 months already brought a higher rated wr then Cortez hankton did in 3 years here.

I know we loaded up at wr in the portal but barber’s ball skills, explosiveness and hands will make him hard to keep off the field. Think that kid develops into a dynamic weapon for us by the end of his first year

I think we would have been too much for Alabama to handle the following week if the 2nd half against A&M went like the 1st. It was clear in that game that the entire team had no confidence on both sides of the ball. Was very sad to watch.

To lose the way we lost to bama off a bye week was what made that game even harder to stomach. Looked utterly unprepared on both sides of the ball. There was no fire , energy or LSU swagger . Kelly did a poor job galvanizing the team after that A&M Loss cuz the Florida game the week after the bama loss was rough to watch too .
quote:

While bad, don't undersell that absolute arse kicking Bama handed us in Tiger Stadium that November. That game was essentially over before the 1st Qtr ended. I can't believe I drove to BR and sat in the rain for that nonsense. Team was completely unprepared and got prison raped.

What made that game even more embarrassing were the amount of big time recruits at that game.Bryce underwood ,Jackson Stewart and Dakorien Moore were all there to witness that asskicking. BK simply never had the team ready to play in big time matchups
quote:

Idk that I agree. I think people forget in hindsight given how the season played out how absolutely lit we were to have beaten Clemson this year. Remember, before the year, we ALL expected LSU to be a playoff team and the big stumbling block and addition an another loss that could end up biting us in the butt was Clemson. We had no idea that they and we would both suck. Vibes were incredibly high after opening weekend. Little did we know…..

Guilty as charged there for sure lol I thot we were legit natty challengers with the way we dominated Clemson that 2nd half. Turns out dabo spot on his assessment. Those were two average at best teams having a mid off in hindsight once Clemson struggled badly vs Troy that’s when I became worried about how impressive that win truly was
Me and my buddies were talking some Tiger football today about the BK era and he made a point that the vibes under Brian Kelly died after the A&M loss in 2024. In peak offseason boredom I decided to go back and watch highlights of that game and man it’s crazy how high the vibes were in the first half of that game. We were 6-1, ranked into the top 10, and got up 17-7 at Kyle field. It’s crazy how fast the wheels fell off when nussmeier throw that pick and Marcel Reed was inserted.

Dillinger going down was killer. We would go on to go 1-4 in ranked matchups for the rest of Brian Kelly’s tenure with the one win being the Clemson game. How different is the rest of the Brian Kelly era if that meltdown never happened ?
quote:

Blocking, Blocking and more blocking. I expect our OL and TE's to run block and create holes for our RB's. I expect our WR's to block and turn 1 yard bubble screens into 10 yard bubble screens.

Potentially seeing wide open wholes created in the run game will be a breath of fresh air. The run game failing was one of the most shocking aspects of Brian Kelly . O line and physicality was suppose to be his bread and butter that didn’t translate at all from notre dame
For me it’s 3 simple things :

Getting off to better starts (we notoriously started off games slow under Brian Kelly )

Functioning run game ( the running game was underwhelming every single year under Brian Kelly outside of Jayden Daniels’s Heisman year

Complementary football ( we never had a complete team during BK tenure. Defense was either anemic or the offense was bad. With lane and Weiss operating the offense and Blake baker running the defense hopefully we should have more games where both sides complement each other.
Kid is a game changer. Vertical speed, catches everything, separates at all 3 levels. Flipping him from ole Miss was huge

I worry about corner. When you get into the big games, good teams will pick on a weak corner. I worry when we will need 3+ on field at once.

Pickett and Woodland will hold their own.look out for Aidan Anding. Was the no.1 cb in LA and a top 200 recruit. I think he forces his way onto the way as the no.3 cb

When you are on the field for nearly 1,000 snaps, you’d probably get tired and miss tackles too. Dude never came off the field and it probably hindered his performance throughout the game. The next closest Ole Miss defender to Dottery in snaps played was 660 or around that. Nobody on LSUs entire defense even came close to Dottery in snaps played. Dottery wasn’t the leader in tackles in the entire SEC last season because he was average.

Agreed he’s not gonna have to play damn near every single snap at LSU. Those young pups at lb will for sure play next year. Ross and braiker will make an impact

We're gonna put pressure on the QB with the front 4 this year, so the secondary is gonna have an easier time of it. Though I still wish Haulcey and Mansoor Delane could come back

Haulcy was super refreshing. After delpit we went on a drought of not having an impact game changer at safety outside of maybe Greg brooks before his injury. Haulcy’s instincts and sure tackling was so fun to watch

Cornerback room will be interesting

Posted by Cd104 on 1/26/26 at 12:51 pm
It will be a very very young room. Ja’keem Jackson currently is the only incoming senior in that group that’ll most likely play. Rest of the guys will be junior, sophomore and freshmen led. Excited to see how Aidan Anding progresses in year 2 that kid has a ton of ability wouldn’t shock me at all if he wins the cb3 job from Jackson.

Excited to see how Havon Finney comes along. Ultra talented freshman with elite athleticism will push for snaps day 1.

This will be huge offseason for Dj Pickett. Had a fantastic freshmen year that ended with a subpar game by his standards vs Houston. I’m confident we’ll get solid cb play out of pj woodland however, he’s more suited to play the robin/cb2. DJ Pickett has to be the guy that fills the shoes mansoor Delane is leaving behind and emerge as that alpha cb1. He has all the god given ability and measurables to take another step and become the absolute lockdown guy he flashed of being in year 2 if he adds more muscle to his frame. Will be fun to see how this young talented group develops during the offseason
