Rivers,
I know it is not a direct play on long oil, but do you think that it would be a "good" gamble to put some money in Exxon or BP right now?

We bought a new Honda Pilot two years ago and love it for the family. You might can look at a used one of those.

That would be cruel and unusual punishment. Don't you know that it is not the American way to have a car that old dammit.

Actually as part of the stimulus package he is going to push, if you buy a house, you get a free GM car.

Just an average running back that LSU never really wanted anyway that will be a flop at OSU. His mom, high school coach, part of a mob family, and possibly one of the recruiting services all conspired against LSU and made him change his mind.

The car dealerships in south La have yet to really realize what is coming yet. I don't see many deals yet.
I have about two years until I start looking for another car, so things should be cheap by then.

Yeah, I have had this cut several times now at La Bocca and it has been outstanding each time and never once tough. I am getting to where I would probably rather have this than a much more expensive regular steak.
Oh yeah, the "we didn't want you anyway" post after a kid chooses against LSU. Love it.

Correct. Given the injury that followed and the national stage that this hit took place on, the national media would be non-stop on this story this morning if they thought it was a bad hit.

I can't comment on any of the restaurants, but if you will search a few of the other V-day threads you will see that it is strongly suggested that you take your girl out to eat on another day if you care about your experience. V-day is generally considered the second worst day of the year to dine out.

Bingo, those two are your answer.

If you want to spend a fortune and impress her, Brennans will work.
Took my wife to lunch today at Vincents. I really forgot how much I like that place.

We of course started with the corn and crabmeat bisque. You would have a hard time convincing me that there is a soup on this planet better than this bowl of goodness. It is rich and very flavorful with just the right amount of spicyness so as to not overpower the crab. There were four or five big pieces of crabmeat floating around. This soup is served in a house made bread bowl that is great for scraping the bottom to get every last bit.

The entree came with a salad and I selected the blue cheese vinigerette. Yummy!

My entree was the eggplant napolean that consisted of three perfectly fried pieces of eggplant stacked on one another with crabmeat in between them. This was topped by a cream sauce and complitmented by three large broiled shrimp. Outstanding.

The wife had the grilled salmon and it very much met her approval.
The entrees come with a small side dish of pasta alfredo and steamed broccoli. I was too full to eat that part, but I did taste the pasta and the stuff just melted in my mouth it was so fresh and tender.

Our server was the person who had greeted us so warmly at the door when we arrived and she provided excellent service to go along with her charming personality.
I love when it all lines up well like this.

The only negative of the meal was the old fashioned that I ordered was not all that good.

It is not horrible are anything. Actually is above the Landry's, Bubba Gump, Hard Rock kind of places.
Go get a drink and a burger and check it out.

I am pretty sure that his is the only restaurant that Jimmy still has control over and is not run by the corporate entity folks. They were very good to their employees after Katrina.

Here is the link to Haydel Bakery. They are kind of expensive, but they put some extra stuff in the box if you are into the whole mardi gras thing.

If you want something near the convention center, there is a Dragos in the Hilton at the foot of Poydras.

Me neither. Until I got to be 15 or so, it was Sonny's Barb-que for special occasions and the trips to McDonalds ar Pizza Hut every now and then. My mom always cooked.

re: How do you stem a recession?

Posted by footballislife on 1/15/09 at 9:35 am
You don't try to stem a recession if it is being caused by natural market corrections. You might try to stop the U.S. from going into a depression right now, but I don't see how what our gov. is doing right now is helping that cause at all.
