When I look at the wind/weather forecast early in the week for a Saturday fishing trip I almost want it to be bad. Whatever they’re saying on Monday is guaranteed not to be the actual conditions on Saturday. I know it’s hard not to obsess over the forecast but I usually don’t put much credence into the predictions until Thursday. Even then there’s a huge margin for error.

Even if you’re catching fish, leave when you spot storms on the horizon. They get real bad, real fast. I’ve seen one distant dark cloud turn into a sky full of blackness in a eerily short amount of time. My other tip would be to invest in a rig hook, much easier and safer than tying up to a rig.

I have one and it’s fun as hell to shoot flies with. Moths and exoskeleton bugs need a few rounds pumped into them to be taken down. I would not recommend shooting into a nest of wasps, won’t end well. I bought mine for the flies that are seemingly always attracted when I use my smoker. Also got mine from Sam’s for about half the price they sell for everywhere else.

LA Guns is relocating from “downtown” Madisonville out to Hwy 22. I don’t know of any shooting range but they are increasing their square footage significantly. They have a small selection of guns/ammo and a few accessories. Nice guys and definitely worth stopping in.

I finally quit supporting them after doing it for many years. They are responsible for spreading more fear and propaganda than even the “Zion controlled liberal media.” According to the NRA, G-men are outside of your house ready to burst in and take your guns. Also, the number of emails that they inundate your inbox with is absolutely ridiculous.
I recommend looking at Midway USA’s branded gear. They have low end stuff to higher end fleece and wool and the quality is second to none. I have a pair of bibs and a jacket that I promise are as warm as anything you’ll find. Buying after the season can result in some good deals and anyone who’s ever dealt with Midway knows their customer service is top notch.
