re: Bezos trying to slam Trump?

I think all stores should display taxes that are embedded in the pricing, why not have transparency. However, the tariffs would only increase the prices if the stores decides to pass on those costs. Let them and then if Walmart wants to sell the same items but pass on a lower portion of the cost they can show that too.
Watching your CEO get a 23% raise when the entire company was only given a baseline raise to average 2%.

Why the raise - “great” company performance

why did the staff only get 2% - poor company performance.
So the decades of tax credits for tight gas development that allowed oil and gas firms to develop their tight gas and shale practices was picking winners and losers?

Government funding is what allows private companies to compete and develop best practices. Private money is never used for research and developmet.

Should give him a run.

Took my 13 yr old this weekend and it was a really fun watch. It's been a long time since i have seen a movie where the entire theater sings along and has a good time. Son had a great time and I was glad that we went.

I have always been a fan of Jack Black and he plays perfectly for these cartoon movies (he killed it in Mario Bros too)

Of course, the row of high school kids who showed up wearing suits threw their popcorn bowls up in the air at Chicken Jocky and were then kicked out (when they sat down, and employee told them they would be kicked out if they did it)
I could see China act against Taiwan and try to take the island if the think that the tariff debate has hurt Trump with our allies. If they see weakness of any kind and want to escalate, this would be the move without a direct attack on US soil. It would be a huge gamble on their part, but certainly within the cards.

That ending sucked. Couldn’t even get a shot off

re: Is Houston a basketball Blue Blood?

I wouldn’t call them a blue blood, but they certainly have a historic program.
This is a reason why Ukraine is important. I’m not for propping up the current regime over there, in fact I think Trump is on the right track to build a cooperation based on access. The US needs to secure more access to resources in other countries and break away from our reliance on china for cheap labor. They have been playing a very long term game, where we are changing ours every four years.
Market crashes/corrections happen all the time, they just need a trigger. It was time and people have been waiting for this to happen, but the market was propped up by different policies. Trump propped it up in the past with ultra low interest rates and then Covid reset the market. Now it’s these tariffs, we can only hope this works and we do not get into a prolonged tariff war.

Dang, one of my favorites:

They should keep their politics to themselves but that could be said for 95% of the country these days so it feels weird to hold young celebs to a higher standard when olders folks cant even refrain.

The problem isn’t that she has an opinion, but these celebs have a platform that 100’s of millions of people do not and they use that platform religiously to demonize people and ideas that they do not like. She has gone beyond just stating her political opinion of matters, and for that this is the result. Has she learned her lesson? I doubt it as she is surrounded by people who are calling her a victim.
Detecting leaks and detecting the strain in the subsurface due to a progressing fracture from 500 ft away are two different things.

Fiber optics being new? Jesus Christ. monitoring "driven" by AI? WTF does that actually mean, you dumb twat of a reporter? Does it mean some engineer set warning limits on volume and pressure to set off an alarm, or is SkyNet controlling valves on this thing with no human intervention?

You know how I know you do t know what you’re talking about? This is ignorant. Fiber optics are being used now to determine fluid flow, fracture patterns, and Microseismic events. These require AI and machine learning algorithms to do quickly, otherwise you’re looking at weeks before you get an interpretation.
I think there will be a large group who are just taking their daughters and then not go back. My daughter has asked about it, and I said I heard it is not great and am not sure if we will take her. If she insists, it will likely be the wife and her (I really do not want to go or spend money on this one).
Investors aren’t usually in a stock to lose money, and I wouldn’t expect anything less from the big investors. This has also been a complaint about Elon for a decade or more, that he has divided attention and can lose focus on a company from time to time. He is the reason these companies are where they are today, and these guys know it and want them to continue to grow and innovate.

DOGE was only supposed to be a short term program for Elon and Vivek and it may have to end in it’s current format sooner than the two year period, but the blueprint is set and as long as Trump is in the White House, I think he can find someone to run it.
