re: Crazy to think that LSU is having QB controversies currently.

Oh there is definitely some controversy!!!

If this is true then why didn’t JM start over Etling? Every time I refresh this board it’s another poster trying to convince himself that we are ok at QB
Etling was coming off a year of starting and deserved to start in his Senior year (his play wasn't that bad). Coach O played MB to burn his redshirt. Since he had 2 QB's in the same class he played MB is some mop up duty, JM's redshirt season had already been used so there was no need to play him unless Etling got hurt.

Lol, this is one of the most idiotic things that I have read on TR!!! With being good you are at least consistent, your luck will run out at some point...

I don't understand this mindsight. Yes, the season is 4 months away. But they aren't practicing those 4 months.
It would be up to the individuals to get better on their own until fall camp rolls around.
I don't think anyone is getting that much better in that time.
My thoughts exactly, I stated something similar to this earlier!!!

jeez, high school, again?
High school highlights mean zero once you hit college.
Lol, unfortunately all we have for all 3 of our QB's is what the did in HS and what they did in this year's Spring Game.

nope. Your high school career gets you a scholarship, and nothing more.
The slate is wiped completely clean once you're in college.
But without great play you don't earn a scholarship, which has everything to do with College Football. And yes your stats are wiped clean, but not you ability and skills that it took to get you the scholarship!!! And JM still has that ability and his skills have adjusted and improved to play at the College level.

Texas AAAAAA State Championships have absolutely nothing to do with major college football.
How you play in HS has EVERYTHING to do with College Football. You take your football career one level at a time.
Now I will give you this.... just because you play good in one doesn't mean that you will play good at the next level. But it's a damn good start!!!

It blows my mind that this kid has become the savior in some of your eyes. He looked better than the other 2 in the spring game. Have you learned nothing about QB performances in the spring game from the last 10+ years?
It's not about him being the savior, but about him being the best QB for the JOB!!! Reality Bites huh....

If McMillan starts you risk having both of the other guys transfer leaving you super duper fricked for years to come.
If MB starts you run the risk of JM leaving and LN transferring... and you are Super Duper "Fricked" again.
But I think you are WRONG if JM starts, LN stays and he hopes MB transfers!!!

you want to pick a starter 4 months before the opener...smart! I guess qbs can't improve over the summer and during fall camp
Not for me per-say, but whomever the QB will be...He needs to know sooner rather than later. And 4 months isn't enough time to improve that much. You use that time to stay in shape, sharpen your skills and build on the chemistry with your receivers.

It’s clear he had the best day in the Spring game. But only the delusional would say he had a GREAT game or he was anything more than average.
No one said it was a GREAT game... Hell I am sure of you ask him he would tell you the same.
Keep in mind he is a proven winning, so don't count him out just yet. At least hold off judgment until he plays a few games. He might surprise some ppl!!

He looked okay in a non contact game against his friends
Exactly! He was also down by contact on a few big plays as well. If those were real games he'd been sacked.
So how did the other QB's look in a non contact game against their friends? Just curious..
And which plays are you referring to that he would have gotten sacked? The refs blew the whistle at the first sign of contact, even if a hand brushed the QB.
Ppl need to stop trying to make excuses because JM outplayed the other QB's!!! Get over it and support YOUR TEAM... :violin:

Look at the first pass of the spring game from McMillan. He's a scrambling version of Brandon Harris without the arm strength. There's no accuracy. And he's less physically intimidating than Narcisse as a runner.
I'm amazed that anyone thinks McMillan has any shot at all of starting without an injury to both QBs.
JM has good arm strength (reference that 30 yrd back shoulder throw to Dee Anderson).
And it amazes me that some think he doesn't have a shot to start!!!
There may be some seriously disappointed ppl on TR!!! Just saying...

If you are saying that JM was taken out on passing downs in HS.... you are CLUELESS!!! And I suggest you go watch his HS highlights!!!
