Outdoor Electronics Question
Posted by RowdyMcflowdy on 5/13/22 at 2:55 pm
Anyone here have experience using a home theater receiver (Onkyo 5.1) outside? It would be under my covered patio (20x40) and hooked to my patio TV. I am pretty much committed to doing it since I have an unused receiver collecting dust in a closet but I am curious if the more complicated electronics are likely to die sooner than the TV. Also, what about a powered subwoofer? I would like to hookup a powered sub to it. That would seem to me to be a lot more susceptible to humidity and other things (critters getting in the sound port or eating the speaker material) It is a large covered patio so none of the electronics are exposed to rain or direct sunlight. When bad storms are coming I have a cover for the TV and I would certainly cover any other electronics out there. None of the stuff I have outside is top shelf stuff because I expect it will die sooner rather than later. Just curious what others have experienced.

Lord have mercy, look at Pelosi's left claw on Biden. Looks like the scaley talons of an aged velociraptor. How do children not cry when they see her?

I think 99% is low, but I admit I haven't been in EVERY Walmart.
re: CAD mini review..just bought a new single dinn radio for car for first time in years

You can't just put a double din in anything. Some vehicles there isn't room. Some classics, you would have to alter the dash which is not good. E30 Bimmer i would never modify to shoehorn a double din radio in.

He looked ok. Maybe even above average, but still bothers the heck out of me that he looks like he has no confidence. He looks scared in the pocket. That is why he makes some of the wildly off the mark throws. Feels the defenders closing in, and makes a quick throw that is too often behind or over the target. All that can be improved for sure. Better o line play will help a lot. He just doesn't have that air of confident arrogance that Burrow had and I guess that is unfair to put that on him but he has to show leadership. Pissed me off when he failed to convert on 3rd and short and we settled for a field goal. He came off the field after the off the mark throw grinning like he had done something good. Be mad that you sucked son. Nothing worth smiling about in failure.

You didn't mention anything about the mouse, wireless, wired, what brand? Rey changing ports for the mouse or dongle. That will likely fix it unless its a Microsoft mouse. In which case change the mouse.

Yes, because all women must be believed you savages! Did we not learn anything from the testimony of Dr Big Glasses or whatever her name is.

He chose her a long time ago, that's why she got that botched face job. The hold up was they were waiting on the docs to get her face back to resembling something human. Seems they missed.

Felt gay clicking on this post, worried there were pictures but totally agree. He came to take names and kick arse, and he got done taking names the first name. Wholesale arse kickings happening since. Good times.
re: Indoor tv for outside patio
Posted by RowdyMcflowdy on 8/1/20 at 8:24 pm
Don't spend the money on an "outdoor" TV. It's a waste of money. I had a 32 inch Emerson in my master bathroom in Texas for 3 years, then moved to Baton Rouge. Here I mounted it on my wall under my covered patio. It lived there for 3 years till I sold my house last year. Left it there. Probably still working. My new house I mounted a 32 inch that was in my last garage for several years, on my outside patio and it's still going strong. The shity Cox receiver has gone out twice, but TV keeps working. You can get good Hisense Roku 32 for 115 bucks at Walmart. Guarantee that will last years. I have 5 or 6 of those in my guest rooms and garage also and they are tough as shite. I have Samsungs in my bedroom, living room and game room. I wouldn't trust those dam delicate things to last one week outside. Even a 55 is around 250.

Yes, a few, but for as much amazing shite he was running around making happen, it really is an amazing feat by any athlete in any sport.

Any SEC team finishing the season, one loss or better, sure as hell should be ranked #1 in the nation. Conference only schedule is a dream come true for many "pretender" contender teams.

Yeah, no kidding. Wife is seriously floating the idea of getting a 500 dollar above ground pool until our in ground gets put in. Im having trouble seeing spending that only to basically throw it away in 2 to 3 months.

That sounds a little troubling but I wouldn't base my opinion over one instance like this. Especially if there is a language barrier involved. Also, as the person who is hiring out a contractor, you have to do your research and help them help you. I have had several fences at different properties put up, and I can tell you the contractors I used on those that were 3 different ones, would have likely put the fence where I told them, but I was the one that wanted to avoid potential issues like that, and got a survey or plat map on my own to make sure.
So what ultimately happened? Did they fix the issue?

This is the kind of info that helps. Wife and I met with Roy, and have talked to his wife on the phone. They seem really nice, and we are heavily leaning towards them. Another thing I like is they handle everything. Fencing, electrical, concrete repair afterwards. That stuff is extra but with other companies they want me to contract out an electrician run the wiring they will need, and also contract out a sprinkler guy to move sprinklers that need moving. They all say they will likely break concrete sidewalks and driveways to install, but Poolmasters is the only one that has said they will do that work also for additional cost. I like just having one company that's responsible for everything.
re: Have any of you baws moved up a class in your life?
Posted by RowdyMcflowdy on 7/24/20 at 12:07 pm
You have to be in a job you like. Not necessarily your dream job, but one you like so you don't hate going to work every day. Don't be a clock watcher. Big companies I have worked at, the guys that were standing by the time clock or front door to bust out at 4.58 everyday were NEVER the ones that moved up at that company, or in life. Be the person that maybe stays a little later to make sure your shite is lined up for tomorrow so get a jump on the day. Bosses notice that, even if its for show. I have always been the type that rarely used up all my vacation time, even if I was going to lose it because I hated getting behind in my work, or didn't trust others to do my shite as good as I did it while I was gone. Bosses notice the people that always mysteriously ALWAYS get sick just exactly as many paid sick days they have. That's the person I've always been and I've done well for myself.

Part of the consideration in deciding on a fiberglass pool, is that long time timeline. Biggest issue is that our quiet little gated community is the type that everyone is super nice and friendly, but 2-3 months of big truck traffic, and sidewalks torn up during construction, we'll be making a lot of enemies, lol. Fiberglass companies were talking 10 day install time if it doesn't rain before, and during installation, which of course we know will happen. Realistically they said 3 weeks. Still beats 3 months or longer. Thanks brother. Good look with yours too.

I like getting a good deal but I'm not about waiting. It probably means a 10k to 15k difference I'm figuring, but it is what it is. A year sooner of swimming and enjoying the pool is worth that to me. If it all comes down to being money well spent, then I might as well not do it and buy a nicer headstone for when I assume room temperature.

Yep, I get that it's not for everyone. We are empty nesters in our late 40s,and semi retired. I'm sure the kids will love and appreciate it, but we really want it for ourselves. We will be in this house for another 5 to 10 years. If it turns out the pool was a mistake, then we move sooner, lol.

I was about to ask why but Googled their name and found the story on WBRZ. Thanks for the info. That's one of the companies that my wife couldn't get a response from.
