I went to last years spring game and Garrett in my opinion, easily looked like the best QB on the team

Was at the game as well. All those around me were thinking the same thing. He could even run okay when flushed out of the pocket.

BTW, your name is ok with me. It is just a message board name so who gives a crap.

If we choose to rank 25 just for the sake of making a list - we are choosing to lump the top 10 with the other 15 who might not be of the same calibre.

Lumped together, yeah. But then again they are given a ranking, i.e. 1 through 25. They just call those 5*'s is all.

Jack Clark has had a reputation as a POS his entire career, FWIW.

Used to live in St. Louis and heard this as well. If you listened to what Mac said that had everyone up in arms it was that he took them to help him recover from injury. Mike Golic from ESPN radio admitted the same thing in his career. I don't believe Mac needed them for power, he had that going on since he was a teenager. No matter how you feel in this matter, it had to be hard for him to get up and admit this stuff after all these years. Not sure how I would have handled it myself.

re: Are we a top 10 program?

Top 10 program and Top 10 ranking are two different animals. The program ranking is a cumulative thing whereas the ranking is a yearly thing.

IMO, LSU is definitely a Top 10 program. Didn't read the link above so have no idea what the experts say. I'd think that AL, FL, OSU, PSU, TX, OK, USC, and FSU should be in there as well. Obviously not all of those programs finished in the Top 10 this year.

Knute Rockne-Notre Dame haha not 'that' old

Pepper Rodgers?-Georgia Tech

Most have been taken already

Sure, they will be better next year, and might even win an SEC title, but I still won't feel good about the coaching staff, because I'll always have that uneasy feeling that they aren't maximizing potential.

This is a joke/sarcasm right?

How am I not surprised that Blackmon, Bates, and Fordham are the three main targets?

Because these are the guys that most on this board know little about (except maybe Bates), so they can go. But, as I recall a lot of folks here were not so high on Marsh either. Maybe, just maybe, the coaches have a clue and the recruititards are clueless. just saying
How many threads you gonna start? Go to your USC board and enjoy yourself ya heah!

2011-2012 season. Book It!!!! I still believe.

Agree. I've been saying this since the spring game last year. Just a feeling I've had and the maturing of the young guys. Not that I am a football guru or anything, just seems the best chance to 'get it done'.

I go all the time and plan on seeing one after work in a little while. But the last time my dad went was to see "Jeremiah Johnson" back in 72 I think. They don't serve beer in theaters in La. Said he can't sit for 2 hours and watch a big frigging tv without one.

Matt Flynn in the Peach Bowl was one game and it wasn't any better than true freshman JJ against Ga Tech last year.

JJ had a great first half, and had actually played and started a game or two before that. But that's just quibbling, I digressed. But the OP wanted us to name a fr/soph qb so I did. For all practical purposes Flynn played very little before 07 and did pretty well that year. I know some on here knock him, but he is a backup to a pretty good one at Green Bay in the NFL right now. I'd like to think that he would have done well had he in fact been the regular qb in his sophomore year. But of course I haven't nothing to prove that theory.
I don't know if this was said because I haven't read this entire thread, but how about Matt Flynn in the Peach Bowl. He was a sophomore with about 10 plays under his belt. He looked well prepared imho. Maybe, just maybe, JJ and JL aren't the ones. just saying

I've got an idea. As fans, let's just wipe each other out and let Bama take over the conference! Seriously, I thought we were all LSU Fans. Let's try and act like grown ups. Facts are we have a very good team that is led by a 19 year old young man, who I expect to be a great player. I don't know many teams that show the kind of heart we do every game. These guys have suffered some tough losses during games that they could have won if the chips had fallen for them. I will always support our coaches, even if they don't bring the glass ball home every year. He has character in my opinion, and will learn from his mistakes.

Look, I'm as passionate as the next LSU fan, but I've got much more important things in my life.
I'm just a realist. I see what's in front of me.

Fair enough brother. Just try looking 'all around' you instead of just what's in front. The scenery can be nice. Here's to ya.
Billy Ray, you sure know how to pee in a man's cornflakes. Right now, a case can be made for either side of the glass half full/empty crowds. I for one fall on the full side and have 'hope' that next year looms bright for LSU. Of course it can all fall to heck in a handbasket but you can't say the tools aren't there to be much improved.

Mr. Pimp, after reading your OP I feel better already (seriously). Ya couldn't tick me off right now if you tried.

BTW, I hope your mom wins her battle. God Bless her.

Frank Wilson and Billy Gonzales will have time to get to know every players strengths and weaknesses, not to mention, their psyche. This is impossible to do in two weeks; you can't change season long habits overnight. Gonzales will have the off season to teach, develop and drill his receiving corps and hopefully do some QB development as well. Wilson will have a group of young studs to confer much needed information to. The team should be very receptive to all instruction, and extremely motivated to make some noise in the fall.

Seriously, thanks Doc. I have been upbeat about the future and you just solidified my feelings.
