Jim Bouton was also a great speaker. The first time I ever heard about Jim and met him was when he gave a speech at the Adhesives and Sealants Council (ASC). Apparently one of his college roommates became a chemist, maybe a PhD chemist, and was President of ASC. I didn't know he wrote a book, but he talked about perseverance and how his life resembles product development chemist at this conference. He talked about being a batting practice pitcher on his high school and college team. He wasn't good enough to be a starting pitcher but he had great control of his pitches. His job was to help the hitters on his team hit pitches they couldn't hit. This allowed him to have even greater command of his pitches. Then pitch what his opposing batters could not hit. He also talked about how he and a minor league teammate came up with the idea of a bubble gum that was shredded and put into a pouch like chewing tobacco which became known as "Big League Chew." I was very impressed with his speech and life stories that I told my dad about the guy I met at the ASC that created Big League Chew. When I said his name, my dad said he was a great pitcher and one of his favorite NY Yankee players. I was around 30 - 31 years old at the time and I am now 61 years old.

I think you are reading the populace wrong or you are blinded by your hatred of Trump to the point that you are a deranged idiot.

I like the thought and effort but what about exemptions when our government agencies run business out of the country in the name of saving the environment. The EPA just ran the only polychloroprene (Neoprene) manufacturer in the North American and South American hemisphere located in Laplace, Louisiana. We had a 100% made in the USA with all raw materials sourced within the US. Now we have to source the rubber outside the US and now we losing business because our product doesn't meet the Build American Buy American Act. Our Government caused this and there should be exemptions under these circumstances. Now the reason this plant was run out of the US is because the environmental issues were racist and only targeted a certain segment of the population. Thanks Biden and the Biden EPA for running the only Neoprene manufacturer out of the whole Northern and Southern American hemisphere.
