re: Is It Possible Hugh Freeze Will Come To LSU?
Posted by KanomieTiger on 12/25/17 at 8:40 pm to RFK
There are people on this board who are willing to see LSU do anything to get to #1. Ole Missed had a couple of top-ranked recruiting classes with which they were able to beat Alabama. The NCAA says the school broke the rules and came down hard. This guy Freeze hasn’t the discretion to keep his sexual dalliances secret from his bosses and embarrasses them.
You want to hire Freeze? Doesn’t LSU’s reputation mean anything to you? If your kid was being recruited to play for LSU wouldn’t you be a little concerned about whether its coaches were honest and were trying to do their jobs the right way? Or does that matter?
As I said before, hiring Freeze would be a disaster. I stand by that. If you want a quick fix, you should switch your allegiance to SMU or Southern Cal or Auburn or some other school and when it gets penalized you’ll at least have the satisfaction of one or two monster seasons followed by a loss of scholarships and no bowl games.
I’ll stick with LSU and its trying to do things the right way.

Anything is possible.
What person in in his right mind would hire Hugh Freeze if he gave a damn about his reputation?

If I had to pick 5, Pete Maravich, Billy Cannon, Dalton Hilliard, Bert Jones.

Wrong time of the year to gauge the student section.

Whatever you may think of Briles, hiring him would be a publicity disaster.

re: When did LSU start calling "Deaf Valley"...
Posted by KanomieTiger on 12/5/17 at 2:22 am to lammo
I went to LSU in 1970. There was no Deaf Valley then. There was no Shell station @ Highland and State then. Tiger Stadium had been known as Death Valley for years by that time.
Dale Brown started calling the Assembly Center Deaf Dome after his teams began to draw large and very loud crowds mid 70s to 80s. Somebody picked up on that and started referring to Tiger Stadium as Deaf Valley.
I don’t know how long Clemson has called its stadium Death Valley. LSU’s Tiger Stadium has been called that for at least 50 years, but I don’t know if that was something LSU used officially or if the sobriquet was something used only by the media and fans.

1971 was a helluva game.
I don’t think the Irish - with all its storied history - quite knew what to make of Saturday night in Tiger Stadium. They got whupped.

re: Booger is TigerBait at this point

Alabama or Ohio? Obviously there are a lot of strong opinions in favor of and against each team. Each team lost in games in which each made uncharacteristic mistakes. The choice for #4 was really between only these schools. Booger was asked who his pick was, and he gave it. He can’t be faulted for that.

Whether he leaves or stays, I have no idea. What I do know is that no post that I’ve seen on this board indicates anyone else knows either.

Big, tough, played fullback in the NFL as I recall.

Dale Brown with a clue.
I laughed. More like a bucket more clues. Great debut. This guy can coach. LSU Basketball is back!
LSU BB is back. Back to what it was when Dale was here. I was a sophmore when LSU’s new coach, Dale Brown, began his reign. LSU beat Memphis State, a team that as I recall went to the Final Four. Dale coached for 25 years and fielded some great teams, though the last 5 years or so were disappointing. Dale had a clue - nobody else’s teams since are anything I want to go back to. Now Dale was Dale and wasn’t perfect, but I sure did enjoy 20 years of “clueless” basketball when he was there. What I saw tonight brought back memories-of Dale’s teams, nobody else’s.
Let’s enjoy this, but give Dale a break. He made LSU basketball.
