re: Illegal receiver down the field

They get 3 yards beyond the line of scrimmage.
Rule 7, Article 10 states: No originally ineligible receiver shall be or have been more than three yards beyond the neutral zone until a legal forward pass that crosses the neutral zone has been thrown.

I hate it that the Parkway players and coaches who have worked so hard to get where they are paying the price for the dumbass that runs the school.
I also hate it for you fans that have to pay for her mistake by traveling every week.

All of us here need to start doing a better job of keeping this particular site a better place for recruits to read because we know they do. Do not feed these trolls from other schools so they can show it to these impressionable young kids.
You really sound like a dumbass making comments like that.
I follow recruiting and I've been reading this board regularly since January 2007. Look at the number of posts below my name... Just because someone doesn't post, it doesn't mean he's a "troll", or otherwise uninformed.
It's dumbasses like you that measure your worthiness by the number of posts under your name that are turning this board in another Rant.

Georgia had 8 EE's last year. The only SEC team with more than LSU>

If a player attempts to run the ball out of his own end zone, but is tackled before making it out, it's a safety.
What? No... You have to leave the end zone and go back in for it to be a safety.
I'm sorry, I should have been more specific when making my statement. I was trying to emphasize the point that the defending end zone is in play.
Let me be more specific... If a defending team member possessing a live ball in his own end zone is downed, it is a safety if his team is responsible for the ball entering the end zone (such as a snap or a pitch). Conversely, If a defending team member possessing a live ball in his own end zone is downed, it is a touchback if the opposing team is responsible for the ball entering the end zone (such as a kick).
quote:
This is incorrect. Your own end zone is definitely "in play", otherwise, there wouldn't be safeties in football.
Then why isn't that when the offense in on the 1 yard line and throws a TD to the back of the end zone it isn't an 8 yard TD?
Because a live ball become dead once it reaches or crosses the opponents goal line while in possession of an offensive player.
I'm not trying to be a smartass; I'm just trying to emphasize that the offensive team end zone or the kick receiving team end zone is in play.
Back to what started this argument, please Google 'What is the longest kickoff return in NCAA history?' You'll discover that the record belongs to Titus Young for Boise State. On November 14th 2009 vs Idaho State, he recorded a 108 yard kickoff return.

Do you have a link to this? I couldn't find anything. Notwithstanding your incomprehension of my post, if this is true, I am still wrong.
I don't know how to post links. Sorry, I'm old and not that computer savvy.
I Googled 'What is the longest kickoff return in NCAA history' which produced a Wiki-Answer link. It stated: Titus Young for Boise State November 14th 2009 vs Idaho State. 108 yards.
I did the same for the punt return.

jesus people it's the first fricking game.
Thank you.
It's only one game and although that's the best he's looked as a Tiger, he proved that he still can't throw accurately on the run.
Don't take me wrong, I'm thrilled with Mett's play last night and I'm eagerly looking forward to his continued improvement, but let's be real... He still has a long way to go before he's drafted in the first few rounds. Let's see what he looks like against some of the SEC defenses.
re: Offensive Positional Breakdown from TCU Game
Posted by CPT 8ch on 9/1/13 at 12:58 pm
I would agree that Mett probably had his best overall game as a Tiger; however, he proved that he still can't throw accurately on the run. Otherwise, he looked great. I doubt he goes high in the draft unless he improves that aspect of his game.

Florida - 1997 when they were #1
That was the loudest I can ever remember the stadium being for the entire game. My wife and I had to literally yell in order to understand each other. I think we stayed at least 30 minutes after the game watching the kids on the field. Seeing people put clumps of the end-zone grass in their pockets was priceless.
Georgia 2003 is probably my second choice; however, nothing is better than us beating Bama in Tuscaloosa.

re: Will the "market" ever abolish cupcake games?
Posted by CPT 8ch on 8/24/13 at 10:28 am
I graduated in 1990 and took over my grandmother's tickets in 1991 so I feel your pain concerning these "cupcake" games. But, lets look at the bigger picture.
Besides serving as "warm-up" games at the beginning of the season or providing our starters a "breather" during the season, one of the main reasons for "cupcake" games is because the athletic department budget is based on playing 8 home games per season (or 7 home games and a profitable neutral site game).
All "legitimate" opponents would require a "home and home" agreement before playing us in Tiger Stadium, resulting in an average of only 6 home games per season instead of 8. Personally I would rather play 6 legitimate opponents at home with no cupcakes than 4-5 legitimate opponents and 3 cupcakes. I'd even be willing to pay as much as I do now, but I don't think everyone would.
The "cupcakes" play us in Tiger Stadium without a promise of us returning to their stadium because we pay them to do so.
Think about it: Even if the stadium is only filled to 80% capacity, and we pay a "cupcake" $500,000 to play us at home, the athletic department still probably banks about 8-10 million for that game.
When it gets right down to it, it's all about the money, and it takes a shitload of it to run a program like ours.

I think he's right... We had about 7-8 early enrollees in last year's class; I'm sure some of them counted towards the 2012 class which reduces the size of our 2013 class.
If I remember correctly, we had some space in the 2012 class for those 2013 signees because of some grade casualties.

Do you know if LSU is looking at Kara Gremillion from St. Amant?
The reason I ask is because I saw her play when she was younger and I knew she would be a special player one day. Also, I saw where she made the 5A all state team as a sophomore this past season.

re: RV Parking in Omaha

We parked at the casino/dog track in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 96, 97, 00, 02 & 03. It's about 5 minutes from Rosenblatt. I haven't been to the new stadium yet so I don't know if this is still convenient. We towed my Jeep and drove it back and forth.

Haven't been to the new stadium, but the 3 times we took the RV, we parked at the casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa. It was only about a 5 minute drive to the stadium. I don't remember what we paid to hook up there. We towed a car and used it to go back and forth.

Who on here could jump further than 22ft when you were in high school?
Back in 1979, when I was in 9th grade, I consistantly jumped 22'+ in practice, but I only officially broke 22' once in a meet (22'6"). Boots Garland, the Assistant T&F coach at LSU, was a friend of my dad's and he worked with me the summer before 9th grade. Working with him, learning proper technique, I added over 2' to my jumps.
I hated our track coach at Woodlawn(BR), so I quit before the District meet and didn't participate after that; besides, track season interfered with turkey season.
Looking at the video, Noil doesn't have good technique. With his obvious natural ability, if he were to work with someone who can "coach him up", I could see him adding 2 feet to his jumps and coming close to challenging the national HS record (around 26', I think). Hopefully, he'll come to LSU and participate in track as well as football.

Will never understand this...
I though this was a good question until I thought more about it...
For work, I too digitally sign documents on a regular basis and think nothing about it. I just assume everyone does it. Then I thought... How many 18 year old kids actually have the ability to digitally sign anything?
re: Tevin Lawson and Jeremy Cutrer
Posted by CPT 8ch on 2/7/13 at 10:08 am
My son plays in the Denham Springs band, so I attend all the games.
After watching Lawson throughout this past high school season, I'm not surprised LSU pulled his offer (for whatever reason).
As I posted several times, he did very little to impress me offensively or defensively. Evidently, he performed well enough at the camps to receive an offer because he surely didn't receive his offer based his performance during games.
On occasion, he'd blew up his opponent and made a sack or a good tackle for a loss, but those plays were were the exception, not the rule. He always seemed a step slow and he played uninspired.
I don't mean to bash Lawson, because he is a super nice kid and I wish him the best. I just don't think he'd contribute much at LSU.

Correct, so follow your #6 shot with buck shot. Chances are your first shot is going to be within 10-15' so you'll blow a nice big hole in whatever you're aiming at.
